This logo was produced by myself (Jim Mahoney) and Bennett Leeds when we were employed at HB in the 1980's. it was based on the existing 2D version. Bennett and I made this with custom code on a VAX running VMS, written in "C". I believe we presented it to the studio in 1985 in an attempt to encourage the studio to pursue 3D animation. Bennett wrote the animation code and I wrote the renderer. We did this work on our own time (mainly weekends). Very happy to hear people liked it! :)
Phasicblu, you rock for posting this! Also, we FINALLY have a genuine KFS 3D Crown WITH music (KeenRich made a recon of the logo using the jingle and a video posted by the now-suspended joecool85).
It was also the 1st Popeye cartoon made since the death of Jack Mercer (he died in the mid-'80s), the original voice of Popeye.
Maurice LaMarche (later best known as the voice of The Brain on The Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain) supplied the voice of Popeye on "Popeye and Son."

I use to have a tape recorder that could make it sound like that.

Although, the H-B logo was the original Swirling Star (seasons 2-3 of "The All New Popeye Hour," and all episodes of "The Popeye & Olive Oyl Show").
These two are from "Popeye & Son."

What show was this taken from?

Popeye and Son, which aired for only one season on CBS (I remember that show when I was young, it was one of the first Popeye cartoons I've seen).
