Here in Quebec on local television stations there are trident ads way more racist. They actually CGIed the lips to make them huge and floppy. This is what happens with marketing people, they get an idea and everyone else feels like they need to jump on the bandwagon and outdo the previous ad... sick

What on earth is wrong with the advert? I'd heard a lot about it over past months so I finally YouTubed it. The only problem is the accent is so blatantly fake! (^_^)

Stereotypes start from somewhere. If there wasn't a single Jamaican person who acted like this, the advert would not have been made in such a fashion. Though born in England as were my parents, and having little to do with black culture, I have enough crazy relatives who act in this way to appreciate that it can be true to life.

All right, so Jamaicans have funny accents - no need to rub it in, though. They (and the whole of the black community) get enough racial prejudice coming to Britain without some gum executive suddenly coming up with a scheme like this.

P.S. I'm NOT Jamaican (or black), and this probably was NOT meant to be racist. I just don't think they should've made such a point about the accent.
