  • damn did I just almost have an heart attack, was looking for thin lizzy's...lol

  • the place where this video was filmed is better known as trout town . my grandfather grew up there , He met my grand mother there more then 50yrs ago she lived in the end apartment , my grand fathers home place still stands and is in the family to this day . what child hood memories lay in those hills. R.I.P. mama ( phylis ann may) trout. you are always loved and truly missed

  • it was filmed in stone,ky about 5 miles from my home

  • The reason the home got torn down was officals saw this vid and determined the house was condemed and made Mikes cousin tear it down which he did at the last moment. I remember going to the house after it was condemned. The floor was actually caving in. And folks were still living there. I used to have a video of me playing autoharp and dulcimer there. I think Mikes cousin charged Patty something like $200 to use his chickens in her video here lol.

  • So glad to find this video. My late husband used to live in the house that wass in this video. It got torn down a few yrs ago and Mikes cousin who owned it is passed on now. Mike and I would come back here almost every yr to see it again. He had fond memories. He said he remembered sitting on the porch with his mama, And it had no indoor plumbing either. A number of people who lived in that house are passed on now. I love you and miss you MIke,

  • the video for this song was recorded about 5 minutes from my house. a couple of my friends are in here. :)

  • Patty's joy at performing is contagious, this video, like the song, is a delight.

Patty Loveless is a national treasure!

  • i love this song!! im in love with my fiancé, he is in the army, 1rtr, and he is the most amazing thing thats ever happend to me,, and when he comes home its an amazing feeling just to see him smiling at me <3

  • Thanks Derdagian 1...I agree.

  • She's a good singer, too! Check "daniel prayed" with patty and ricky skaggs.

You can look up 'girl from the greenbriar shore' Ralph Stanley from the Down from the Mountain tour and she's one of the first faces on the video. It'salways a good idea to get a pretty lady in your video.

  • who is the purty lady playin fiddle?

  • She is Carmella Ramsey, and she seems to be quite the prolific musician. She shows up with everyone who is top of the line in country music and Bluegrass. Her face lights right up and you'll see her pleasure in performing.

  • Don Humphries was a bluegrass festival bud of mine going back to the Weiser, ID, meetings and Grass Valley BG festivals of the 70s. I didn't know he wrote this number till I saw his name in the credits on the album notes. Man, he could write em and sing em. Patty, with the help of Duncan's and Richardson's twin fiddles and Alan O'Bryant's 5-string really make this number. Good video to go with it too. Thanks for doing bluegrass, Patty!

  • One of Patti's best album ever:) Saw the down of the mountain tour and Patti and others were just wonderful Thanks for the posting

  • my grandpaw is n this video he looks like elvis n the truck mirror

  • patty looks absolutely adorable in this vid.... god she's amazing....

  • dolly don't sound that good.

  • so many of my friends were in this video, lol

  • I love this it sounds like Dolly Parton is in this song

  • It's funny how I know so many people in this video. I lived pretty close to that house as well (before they tore it down.)

I love the fact that they showed the girl wearing the Belfry shirt at 2:33.

    GO BELFRY!!

  • Thanks for all of your comments.

This is my very favorite Patty Loveless video.

I especially love the part near the end where the gals are playing their fiddles.

    Vic

  • @VicDeHaven Just to let you all know the guy combing his hair in the car is my grandpa and he was on oprah jealous

  • this was taped like 2 minutes from my house

i didnt get to go to the taping because i was sick i was so mad i can name alomost everyone in that video whats sad is so many of them are grown up now of course im only 15 but that house they taped that on has been torn down but i still remeber exactly where it is i miss them days

  • Great stuff & the part that I love it at the 1:23 mark with the ducks.

  • You're right! They're so cute.... it looks like they're marching in time to the music!

  • I normally hate bluegrass but Patty rocks, one of the few that can sing bluegrass with out sounding like they are calling a hog. Please I ment no offense to any bluegrass fan or to the music I respect it. Just not my thing except for a few, and just my opinion

  • I read your comment about Bluegrass singers sounding like they're calling a hog. I hadn't laughed so hard in a week. I agree with that even though I like Bluegrass. No doubt about it though, Patty Rocks! Thanks for the laugh.

  • glad I made you laugh, also glad I did not offend. Best regards

  • To randyincv & stashnut73,

Tt's nice to see you folks playing nicely with your comments on my Patty Loveless page.

    Live long & prosper.

  • Ha Ha Ha I don't believe it my sisster lived in that

    Place. That is to funny/Cool

  • This was sooo in my town..woo hoo

  • where exactly is this hometon of yours, mizzboo21?

I thought it might be in the Smokies except for Patty's line about "the ships are in and the sails are down".

  • It was done in Stone, Kentucky..I live like maybe 5 minutes from there. Almost all the people in the video I can pinpoint. THis place is very small so this was kind of a big thing around here.

  • Thanks a bunch for sharin g this info with us mizzbo. It makes me smile to hear this tune every time I come back here to see people's comments. And the best part is, all these comments are positive!

  • My sister lived in that place where they did that Video her name is Penny

  • oh yeah bluegrass rocks,i wish country would stay like this unlike the new ones coming out.

  • Yes indeed. Bluegrass certainly does rock.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Thanks for all your PL input you two.

Yup, this is the one that made me fall in love with Patty. And most of her songs are really "feel good" tunes.

  • I love this song. Patty Loveless is from where I am from, and we are distant relatives. (my last name is Ramey) I heard she has a good heart, and not only that, but boy can she sing!

  • This song "The Boys Are Back in Town" was written in the early 1980s by Asheville, NC song writer Don Humphries who was living in The Bay Area at the time. The Nashville Bluegrass Band's Stuart Duncan and Pat Enright are also given writing credit because they wrote the last verse that begins ":Come in the house..." to replace Don's original "Get out the wine. Get out the grass Try to get granny off of her ass. Try to get sister to sass..."

  • WOW! Great Video! Thanks for sharing it! She was born to sing this type of music! Out of all her albums her Mountain Soul CD was the best! I've met Patty Loveless 15 times during the last ten years and she is as down to earth in person as she appears in this video! Thanks for sharing it!
