@redmarine28 Thank you for your service. Good to see those who served this nation willing to step up and take credit. I was in a bar here in san diego 2 nights ago and met a guy who had lost his hand and both legs. I asked him if he was in the military and he finally, almost embarrassed, said yes. I thanked him for his service. redmarine28 thank you. If you need to say anything I am here....
I always liked this song...just not the way it was performed on this album...Grace just sounds a little too drunk...or something. I think she should re-release it with a sober performance...expecially today. Don't get me wrong I love Grace but she just sounds a little off on this one. But hey, I'll take a tipsy Grace over most of the garbage comming out today!
this song really capitulates what an emotionally strong voice grace slick has. I've always loved her voice, not because it's musically perfect, but because she sings passionately...especially in this song
With the recent headlines of the decades of pedophilia in the Catholic Church, and the denial of this hyocritical Pope, this song coulldn't be more timely or meaningful.
"One man of peace dies and a hundred wars begin." One of the best lines in any song.
The Jesus people...became popular around the time of this record....was alot purer back then... not the hypocrisy of todays t.v. preachers.....imitating the 1st converts, sharing, loving, worshipping
That's true. But it's one of Grace's LEAST subtle. She skewers religion more artfully in af few lines of 'rejoyce' than in this whole song. I heard tell that Grace's daughter became a Xtian...wonder how ol' China Wing reacts to this track now.
This is what Grace said according to the China Kantner entry in wikipedia
"My daughter loves studying Jesus. Some friends of hers turn their nose up at that. They don't understand that she is not .talking about churches and what churches say; she is studying the actual words and message of Jesus."
Pete Sears and his wife were strong Christians during the Jefferson Starship years so they had some in the band over the years.
this here is how us marines fought the fuckin nam

Did she really become a Christian? I thought she was only "studying" Christian theology...

grace, drunk, drained of hope, bitter, vicious, keening, still holding onto humor and the piano.

I wish they sold Jefferson Airplane's music more commonly. It's so hard to find, considering they are suh a talented band.

I always enjoy the music of Jefferson Airplane, especially songs with Papa John Creach.
Thank you JeffersonJukebox
