  • Oh my god!! LOOK OUT FOR THAT POLAR BEAR!!!!!

  • well hey there pilgrum!! i like the tripod/stick & chair idea. What about the damn dog though? What is the chair fabric made of?? Emergency blankets are ok,your right they work way better to heat you with a fire. I've used them lots just to see how far they will take me. I've also done no emergency blankets, just a tarp or just a tube tent. With/with out ground sheets, summer and in winter. i like itcuz it keeps your butt off the cold. Figure to reverse the chair and close the blanket.hole4smoke

  • @turbzdajuggalo the chair material is Nylon. It is interesting to try different shelter materials and configurations. A person can learn a lot doing that.

  • Great vid. I can see it getting almost too warm in there but I guess you could move it back from fire if you had to.

  • Why use the time consuming setup instead of a tent?

  • @lamyeechiu Did you watch Part 1? If you did then you would find that I answered your question there. Please take another look at the title of this video. This is a Survival Sleep Shelter System. The best application for this system would be to carry it on your person when out in the wilderness. Because of it's compactness and light weight, that is very do-able.

  • @lamyeechiu Part 2 of reply. When confronted with a survival situation and you have been separated from your tent and sleeping bag, Say if a bear tore up your camp and destroyed tent and sleeping bag or you overturned your canoe or raft in rapids and lost everything or......... This system could easily be instrumental in saving your life.

  • Great video! That critter at the end got my attention for sure!

  • @MrBoogerhook Thanks. I've gotten a request to include "the bear" in more videos. He's just about always with me when filming but I'll have to make a special effort to get him in the videos more. Thanks for watching.

  • @MrBoogerhook at first i thought it was a bear

  • BEAR!!!!

  • thought that was a bear coming up from behid him then hahaha!

  • a fire and it will be a comfortable night :-)

  • @rabbitflink Yep, it should be. I really thought that the system should work but it surprised me at how well it does work. It is warm in there.

  • At first I thought that was a bear standing in the background watching you. But no, just a dog covered in snow.

  • @whuddafugger Yep. He's my bushcrafting buddy.

  • Frosty Doggy!

  • @badbrainz1980ify He loves it when we get out and do stuff like this.

  • Great video! I thought it was a bear near the end also, LOL. Beautiful dog. I'm always interested in ways to survive in the wilderness, esp the cold. Thank you for sharing.

  • @TammyLoves2Read You are welcome Tammy. Thanks for watching.

  • is that a newfoundland dog?

  • @bowdude21 He is part Bouvier Des Flandres and part mixed Labrador. We got him as a puppy from a puppy rescue place. He's a great and fantastic dog. Thanks for watching.

  • Nice shelter. I thought I saw a bear in the background, 4:33. Nope, just a cool dog.

  • @rangermonk thanks. I have to agree with you. Buck IS a cool dog. He is my bushcrafting buddy.

  • Completely awesome! Thanks for the instruction!

  • @bizzarrogeorge You are welcome. Glad you liked it.

  • hey

  • Cool!!! A good way to keep off of the cold ground.

  • @EarthBlue2 Thanks for watching

  • Quite enjoyed the vid, always useful to pick up tips that could help in an emergency.Thank you

  • @SuperDeltaRomeo You are welcome and thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • You can buy rolls of mylar from hydroponic garden supply rolls of 25',50',100,' 150' x 50" prices range from $15 roll up to $50 plus shipping. HTG supply is the site I located that has this. I have an idea that I will build if successful it might revolutionize portable winter shelter.

  • @cdltpx That is some excellent and helpful information. Thanks. Good luck on your idea and let me know if you post a video on it.

  • @phreshayr I am waiting for my disability money to start. Crazy aint it? I could make a design that would be so popular that I could earn enough money to get off disability? I haven't even gotten my first check and I am thinking how to get off? Pride always comes before a crash according to Soloman I wonder if my feelings are a result of pride. All I can say is if I can learn a way to earn a living from home I will gladly give up disability but they gave it to me fair and square.Ron Paul 2012.

  • that was wrealy gwreat thx

  • @shippen2010 you are welcome. Thanks for watching.

  • @Phreshayr thats a cool dog then, when I first saw it I thought it was going to attack you lol

  • @scrin867 lol Yep he's a cool dog. The only way he would hurt me or anyone else is if the person got whacked too hard from his wagging tail.

  • What the hell!? Is that a skunk bear?

  • @scrin867 If you are referring to my dog, he is in part, a Bouvier Des Flanders. An excellent dog.

  • 4:34 I thought the dog was a bear I was like SHIT!

  • @Ironlakgrafff the dog occasionally catches me off guard as well and I think he's a bear for a second.

  • Comment removed

  • like the dog

  • @DraGorian777 Thanks. He's part Bouvier Des Flandres and part Labrador mix. Hes a great dog.

  • You know there was a shaggy bear in this video?..lol. Good vid

  • @redwoodfox I assume ya mean my dog. Yep he's a great companion. Thanks

  • Nice one!

  • @brgzz Thanks

  • anouther great vid . do you a brand that you like best for your space blankets

  • @cslr11 Thanks. No I just buy the cheap ones at Wal-mart or Fred meyer. I do have a larger one though that I have never used that seems to be a real nice blanket. It is the one intended to carry with me in case I ever NEED one for survival. It called "Heat Sheet". You can do a google or youtube search for more info on it.

  • good video as usual. thanks for sharing it. :-)

  • @DisillusionedAcronym You are welcome. Thanks for dropping by and viewing.

  • I love it !!! thanks

  • @snappa222 You're very welcome and thank you.

  • i thought your dog was a bear cub at first lol. nice shelter...

  • @FixedByDoc LOL ya, glad he wasn't. Thanks. have a good one

  • Nice video. You can really tell you're an Alaskan when your shelter is held together with duct tape, LOL.

  • @mechanic99703 LOL I had to laugh at this one. it sounds like our (Alaska) secret is out. Without duct tape.....well I guess a lot of us Alaskans would be rather helpless. I used to have a "Wall Tent" that I spent quite a few winter campouts in that was made of black plastic sheeting, and regular cheap poly tarps and duct tape. The coldest temp we camped in it was 38 below zero F. I was always afraid that wind would rip our duct tape joints apart and leave us in the cold.

  • I wonder if adding a small sheet of clear plastic to the front would hold in more of the heat from the fire. Just like the winter shelter made by cody lundin in the dual survival ' shipwrecked ' episode. It has almost a greenhouse effect.

  • @Prepare2Survive I'm sure it would. I believe that regardless of how extreme the temperature is, even -40F, -50F or -60F, with a sheet of clear plastic over the front it would still be fairly comfortable. Because of how warm it was in there while being still open fronted, I believe that it would HAVE to be quite a bit colder in order to be comfortable with a closed clear plastic front. Otherwise it might be too warm. Good idea. Thanks.

  • A similar emergency shelter is used for caving accidents to keep the victim warm until helpers arrives. Usually you would put one or two canldes inside the shelter to provide more warmth.

    Thanks and greetings, Tim

  • @steintanz My dog is big enough that if I could rap him and me both in a space blanket shelter we ought to stay pretty comfy. Good to hear from ya buddy.

  • What about calling it (the survival chair) ? surplied in kit form at just £30.00 or $45.00

plus P+P of course, great to see you still out playing in the snow the snow we had here in the U.K. seems so long ago now it's spring at the moment with summer not to far away be safe my best Michael S

  • @armouredcockroach That thought of marketing it actually did occur to me but I'm a lousy business man. The snow in the vid is misleading because I actually filmed this 2 months ago and I finally got around to editing and publishing it. We DO still have plenty of snow here now but it is rapidly melting and another week or so it should be just about gone. Have a good one Michael and thanks for dropping by.

  • Great video & idea But i wouldn't use that for Sleep.

I'd use that for hunting. Good luck

  • @maxinpains Well it's not much for camoflage especially with a fire out front but it sure would beat sitting in the rain and cold.

  • @phreshayr Nah. you really don't need it with camo. most of target Animals can't see it anyway. They can sense infra-red refrections & scents & sounds so on..therefore the shelter for the hunting apprications does not need to be with camo.I own hunting goods companies to make stuff.. I personally do love camo stuffs i add camo futures on everyitems I sells but it is actually meaningless to use it as a hunting hut.

remember I started everything from scratch & I do know how to sell them.

  • cool

  • @ncbookz Thanks nc. Glad ya like it.

  • Outstanding shelter my friend.

  • @EDINBURGSTAR Thanks bud
