i do feel sorry for you, the rules do not require nets and as such referees become lazy relying on nets to tell them if the ball entered or not, i know i have and i have learnt it the hard way. however the best way to deal with this is to get the refs better trained because it is what he says that counts. more training is needed. i know in Canada 16 hours of training gets you a badge. it is a shame no one want to work on the refs as much as they work on importing coaches etc

they didnt check for holes right after the kick, they did it before the game and refused to do it again. after the game they went and looked at it and there was a hole right where the ball went through. Bad Call Ref

Here's what I've been able to gather just in case people were still wondering.There were holes in the net and it was reported to the officials i believe after the Freshman game of the night. The ref either ignored it, didnt find it a problem, or was just incompetent. I think the latter

there was no freshman game, im on the freshman team and they didnt play, it was just vasity

Thanks for your input. You are correct. It was a playoff game, so no freshmen games. I don't know if there were other games (playoff or jv) at that stadium or if my sources were referring to prior game reports. All i know is that the Referees did not do their job in officiating the spot kicks and checking the field prior to the game.

Yes and the hudsonville freshmen coach even reminded the referee before the game even started that there was a hole in the goal. Glad to see they listened.

I was at that game to scout and recruit players from both teams. I sat through the whole rainy mess. To be honest Rockford was lucky to have won. They eeked out a goal in the last 10 after being even with Hudsonville by my count in "dangerous chances." And the ref didn't do his job on this spot kick, clearly in. Its just another show of how incompetent the reffing in West Michigan is. The above clip is a shame no matter who it happened to.

im not biased towards any team here, but it doesnt really matter how many shots u have or how much possession u have if u dont do something with it. it appears to me that hudsonville deserved the win while rockford is lucky their equipment is no good...

yea that ref sucked, and it was a goal but come on. we (Rockford) outshot u 18-6, dominated possession, got fouled in the box, had a countless number of corners. oh yeah and i hit the crossbar in double ot. We deserved the win from start to finish. hudsonville should be thankful it even went to overtime.

I've watched this five times and its still hard to see if its inside the post or outside. Even hard to tell from the Hudsy player's reaction! If it was in, tough break for Hudsy and huge break for the Rams.
