~This story has intrigued me for years. I am just now understanding the point. The moral of this story is that he obtains this power, and his reward for his efforts is nothing but heart break. The reason being' .. he has the inability to love or to be loved...So' with all his hard work he still ends up with nothing.. because he could not love. Love is the answer.
Diablos pero es q Grenouile es descrito de forma tan despreciable que parece q Ben es muy bello para ser el en la pelicula claro esta pero bien me parece una muy buena pelicula y un mejor libro a mi me encanto.

I saw the movie, and it made no sense at all. First of all, most of the people he killed should have been able to fight him off pretty easily, even some of the women. Secondly, people do not use their smell exclusively. We also use our ears and eyes.
Most importantly....SOMEONE WOULD HAVE HAD A BAD COLD or otherwise impaired sinuses and thus have been unaffected by the dudes super smell power.
1. Well you know between the book and the movie there always a lot of differences and most of the people do prefer the book because it's not so easy for the directors to bring the same emotions from the lectors to the audience.
So they don't always succeed but we should appreciate the attempt, shouldn't we?
2. It could make more sense if you think of the book, we're in the 18th century.
He made them sleep hitting their heads with any sort of arm he could find. So, the victims were sleeping or already dead when he operated (or they died while he was wrapping them into a fat-soaked cloth). Apart from this, don't forget it's an invented book!!! It's just a dark fairy tale that uses real life locations as a backdrop to the story.
But Madam Gaillard is murdered in the film just after she leaves Grenouille, but in the book, she isn't murdered, she dies with 89 in the hospital, isn't she?
1st question: yeah it happens in the book its something i notice as well but it doesnt make me that happy... its like hes not meant to be remembered in this world... its a sad fact.
2nd question: no he doesnt hate only Dustin's character. He Hates The World. He Hates Everyone!! He Respects Nobody.
no, no, No! :S if u just saw the movie - no offense - u didnt understand the story itself i also read the book... (actually i firstly read the book n then found out they had made a movie from it) n the book is completely different from the movie. the protagonist doesnt like anyone at all!!! he just wants some kind of girls to be part of his project of creating "the perfume".

Besides, this book is about the smell, so it's normal that prevails the sense of scent.

sorry i saw your reply again n i think i have to clarify 1 thing: in the book he kills just redheads...
you can find the rest of the explanation on your account (here i cant write that much.. lol)
bennylover90 3 years ago
the movie romanticized the story. yes. he selfishly kills all those redheads to create this ultimate perfume..ironically, a perfume 'of love'
