The fastest to win 50 races and the youngest at age 28. Won 49 races from 94-99.

Sr..same story..to a degree. Sr. had more competition, but it is still nothing like it is today..financially and mechanicly.
I'm furious that Jeff Gordon got screwed out of 2 cup titles because of the chase. NASCAR should get rid of the chase because it has recieved (from several opinions/comments I've seen so far) negative thoughts and criticism.

alright, for 1 Dale earnhardt is the greatest driver of all time, 76 win 7 championship, and on a mediocur team, most talented driver ever. Gordon, on the best team ever, best equipment ever, dosen't have a family until this year, its not that hard to do all he's done on a really strong team.

Jeff Gordon is the only driver to finish in the top 3 at every track he's competed on. He's won 4 consecutive Southern 500's and 9 total road course wins. Well, he won his first title with a mediocre team, but I wouldn't call Richard Childress Racing a mediocre team, as many drivers besides Dale have had success with that organization.
Dale Earnhardt, Sr. is not the greates driver of all time. He may have 7 championships, but so does The King, Richard Petty, who owns 200 career wins, the only driver coming close to that is Pearson with 105.

Not necessarily because teams adjust themselves to the rules they have to race by. You saw it in '08 with Jimmie Johnson- he ran shitty half the year, experimenting with setups so he'd have his best equipment for the last 10 races. Under the old system, drivers would've raced Jeff differently which would lower his chances. By the way, if Earnhardt hadn't died in '01 he would've won that title against Gordon, and the record Gordon would have to beat would be about 9 championships, not just 7.
And gave 3 to Jimmie johnson. The rules are getting even dumber. Now its like drivers that are 300 points behind have to right to be 1st in points come the last 10 races, theres no way that is right.

The chase, the lucky dog, double file restarts, the new chase with giving guys who have more wins a better starting position. Yeah all of it. Terrible. Makes it harder on the guys that do good.
And I think he should top that Top-3. Jeff Gordon is the best there ever was. Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt were awesome, too, but I don't think it's fair to say that they're better than Jeff. Richard got his 200 wins when everyone used COMPLETELY different cars. Earnhardt was really good, too, but I think the cars that Jeff had/has to drive, are probably the hardest, and he's restricted on what he can do, too. My opinion, #24=#1.

Oh i agree. And Jimmie didn't deserve it this year. i was happy that johnson win it in 06 but this was supposed to be jeff's year.
