  • I love that he's at one of THE iconic instruments of Paris (the world, really) playing iconic French music with Daniel Roth himself sitting beside him at the console giving registration pointers. What a scene. And such an amazing piece of music.

  • A sensational inner portrait of this magisterial instrument, with vivid dynamics in the performance and memorable sounds to stir the soul. The close-up perspective offers a thrilling view of the console as the brilliance of Vierne flows from the pages of the score. A fabulous document of James Lancelot's art and the formidable beauty of this Cavaille-Coll masterpiece still in place at St Sulpice. **********

  • wow he gets more help than I do in my organ loft

  • It is wonderful to see this played on the console. Excellent performance the sound of the instrument is wonderful. Thanks for the video!

  • I love watching the couplers pull down keys on this console. While the camera is on the manuals, you can tell which pedal keys are being played. Amazing How can this poor organist concentrate with all the noise and talk. Keith Chapman (RIP) used to play the Wanamaker organ, while turning around and asking all the visitors where they were from. Love the reverberation. Cant wait to get to Paris

  • PHENOMENAL. Thank you SO much for posting this! =D

I loved watching this. It's such a beautiful console, and an inspiring performance of Vierne.

  • This is really kind. You have made an old guy very happy. Oh, and congratulations upon your graduation! I have lots of cd's of the organ but I am really disappointed at their apparent indifference to the web and the possibilities it can offer. Hence my gripe. Best wishes.

  • Caenydd,

very many thanks. I was pleased you enjoyed listening to it. I have to say I never get bored of watching that clip. I think I was quite lucky to have had lessons on this organ, from the man himself as well!! He is as very amiable person, and won't let you get away with any bad playing habits!!!

  • This is wonderful, James Lancelot is a great musician. There is a perplexing aspect to this and it is the fact that Durham Cathedral, where he is Director of Music is almost unique in having no media available on its webite, no organ (one of the finest in the country) no choir, not even any spoken word. Search for the organ on the web! Nothing.

  • Hey Caenydd...if you'd like to hear the Durham Cathedral organ, played by this great man, put "Congregation Durham 2009" into the youtube search engine and it will be the top link. It's the music from my graduation ceremony last year. I had the opportunity to have a go on the Durham Cathedral organ a few times. It is absolutely stunning. The sound's not bad either!! Hope you enjoy it!!
