Hey 12Bass, thanks for posting this bro!! Maybe someday CT will do a documentary DVD in high def to really celebrate the bands history...like The Who's "The Kids Are Alright"...until then...these videos (flaws and all) are priceless! Thanks again! BTW Ive seen CT over 20 times since 1982! Love this!
I think this is very enjoyable, I would love to see a full-length Cheap Trick Behind the Music or a career-spanning retrospective on the band. They are one of the best bands in the world.
This production was made in 88 finished in 89 with the addition of Spring Break as a demo for the band as a Rockumentary. The former mgt made me re-edit down to 28 min 30 sec for MTV. Nearly a year after the demo Every Trick In The Book was released.
My plan was a Cheap Trick version of "The Kids Are Alright".My tape has suffered from nearly 20 years of being in an attic or basement, depending on where I lived.
They've been approached a zillion times for this kind of project. The answer is always a resounding 'NO'. They work hard at keeping their personal life totally seperate from the Rock Star side. Now a career spanning retrospective "ROCKUMENTARY' would be bad ass!
How can you ingore one of the longest lasting American Rock bands?! I know one thing when it's done It'll be a doozie! Hopefully it'll play at the IMAX too! Cheap Trick is made for the BIG SCREEN! Rock'N'Roll!
The videos are from tapes that date back to 1977 and were copies made from either originals or from copies that the band owns. VHS doesn't hold up over time and generation loss adds to the noise of the video. If you don't like it, and some of this stuff has never and will never be released by Cheap Trick, then don't look at it. Or I could just pull the whole production from YouTube. Your reply will determine the documentary's fate.
Though I am a big fan of Cheap Trick, I am not very pleased to see Rick smashing the guitars, like other guitar legends did in the past, such as Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore. Those guitars were given birth to this world just to be destroyed? How sad!
never get rid of these videos please
this is history

Rock'N'Roll is about agression...
Even a "guitar colliector extraordinairre" like Rick Nielsen has to let off some steam once in a while!!

Wow! That's extremely rare to see Rick trashing a few guitars. I wish I could have seen that in person!
