  • I think the book and the video were both amazing and i also think if Michael J. Silver tried completing that it would be an awesome movie. But really REALLY great job on the video ! =)

  • very awesome. i wish this were an actual movie.

  • this book could actually be a great movie

just that this trailer doesn't add up.

  • @bridgetdiego011 this isn't a trailer that's why it doesn't look like one.

  • the book was amazing and incredibly well writen. thats all there is to it.

    good video bytheway. (:

  • Great job!

  • i went to hazelden last summer and read this book while i was there. awesome book.

also, just had my first year of sobriety on the 4th of july, holla!

  • @bhendricks25 congrats : )

  • A brilliant book...and a very good adaption so far. Keep at it. (Who cares if it's true or false...as long as the story is authentic. And this one is).

  • hah, this was a pretty good video, you should make a whole movie

  • You have a very real insight to addiction. I've been there, so I know. I celebrate by sobriety 2 years on April 29th 2010. Just wish I could quit smoking cigarettes. I find this is the hardest addiction to kick.

  • they should make a film based off of My Friend Leonard

with Edward Norton as James & Clooney as Leanord that would be sick

  • i just finished the book today, it's simply amazing.

  • I'm only on page 67 but this book is amazing. If there really is a movie , i want to see it. (:

  • i read this book in rehab, It really inspired me. I've been clean for over a year now. :)

  • Congrats!!

  • Cool book...

  • by teh way if someone wants to see a movie that is the closest adaptation of the book i would recomend seeing "City by the Sea" with James Franco as the drug addict its exactly how i portrait James in the book just with shorter hair.

  • wow thank you. i will check it out. i am into drama and basic bad stuff when it comes to books or movies. i like movies based on drugs, death, etc.. its really interesting to see someones point of view. recommend me more stuff if u want lol.

  • i love the book which i am reading right now. I am alittle half way over

  • I don't like how the actor portrayed James. Meh. Too emotional.

  • A little too much emotion for James. He was just a shell on the outside and confrontational at times, but he never really seemed like he was "cheery" or whatever. Decent makeup though.

  • but he wasnt that emotional. i mean, he had more of an attitude i might say.

  • wow. u definitely nailed how i pictured james in my head. great job

  • wtf?! whats with all the great actor comments. you weren't believable, you were overacting, and i question whether you actually read the whole book...your nothing like the character.

  • AMEN.

  • good job but james was too,, cheery.

really good tho, the make up effects are great

  • wow i actually enjoyed this...great job...great actor

  • Interesting concept and good construction overall. I wouldn't fuse Ken and Joanne into the same figure. The interview is given by Ken. Joanne is sympathetic and compassionate and Ken is regimented and hugely more antagonistic than Joanne.

Also, James needs to be much more zombie-like and project a tougher exterior/shell. He feels shitty inside but always locks eye contact. You could add in more narration to convey his inner hostility and sense of worthlessness.

  • Wow, u seem to be a really good actor, it was so real.

    Great work.

  • you should really get into like hollywood, you seem like a good actor and shit

and the guy filming seems like a good filmer

  • this sucked.

  • It sounds a lot like edward norton in fight club.

  • You look and sound the way I thought James Frey would

  • Yeah i think so too.

  • dam ur a good actor. for so fucking real.

  • u r very sexy

  • hes to pretty to be james

    every ones too pretty

its simply what you would expect at out of

    a drug rehab movie

I mean come on radiohead and the pixies

    lets think outside the box

  • Good job. :)

  • great passage

  • my friend leonard

  • hahaha that was hilarious. Made my day.

  • james didnt have the 4 front teeth at the beginning

  • haha i was just gonna say why does he have teeth?

  • so do u expect him to knock out his 4 front teeth for this video? its not actually him u dookie

  • is this serious or a joke?

  • wuts is the 2nd part of the book called??

  • My friend Leonard

  • great effort, but it was a little corny.. sorry dude

  • LOL This was so hard to watch. So corny but great effort. XD

  • ;;i tnjnfkk

  • Everyone's aways going to have their own views on the book, I suppose it just depends on the person. I thought it was amazing.

Same goes for the controversy, some will feel cheated and lied to but personally, if it made the book a better and more gripping read, I don't mind that he altered some of the truth. Most films are "based on true events" and perhaps this should have been stated from the start but shit happens. I don't think people should let themselves get too wound up about it.

  • i dont get why everyone cares whether or not he fudged details or not. its not like it falsifies the whole idea of being an addict, being in a clinic, suicide, depression, or any of the other things. it just adds interest.

all these people that feel like frey "conned them" need to grow the shit up. because its just a fucking book. and a great book IMO.

  • I agree. It's a great book! Those who enjoyed the story should take it as just that, a great piece of work. Movies do the same thing, its called taking artistic liberty. Maybe if audiences were told the exact real story, they would not find it so exciting!

  • a book yes , a great one ? well he`s no faulkner.

  • well said man, exactly what i would of said

  • reguardless if the book was true or false he wrote it as a lesson to other addictors and readers i really loved this book because its as if your him i think the book was amazing and i would recomend it

  • a million little pieces was a horrible book. it portrayed addiction in a completly false light and he lied about many situation in the book to make it sound better. just an aweful book

  • Comment removed

  • very nicely done!

A Million Little Pieces is definitely one of my favorite books.

but I don't think it should be a movie, the book is too amazing as it is, the movie would never live up to it.

but it would be a great movie nevertheless.

Kevin Spacey would be a great actor for the part of James.

  • James was 23 years old. Kevin Spacey's like double that. Bad Idea.

  • I agree 100% Maybe a Jared Leto could get a way with it, but if it were to go to film, I think James would be better portrayed by an unknown actor.

  • I agree.

And even if the movie was half as good as the book, it would be a very hard movie, or should i say heavy movie. Even the book made me feel uneasy too many times.

  • You interpreted his character badly...He's a lot more pissed off

  • man i read the whole book all i know he loves a girl name lilly

  • nicely done, i enjoyed it :D

  • NO I NEED IT!!

  • I really want there to be a Million Little Pieces movie...and it'll be just like the book.

  • the sounds sucks!!!!! and the counseler wasn't a girl it was ken it was a guy.

  • actually it was a female nurse who asked these questions near the beginning of his time in the facility.

  • the counseler was ken, but it was a girl nurse asking him those questions in the begining of the book.

  • yeah thats not how it goes.

he doesnt act like that at all.

  • I read a million little pieces and it will always look good in my imagination. but it was ok, not great.

  • no matter what, my interpretation will always look better in my head, but considering, this was simple. Not sure about the acting... a little too enthusiastic maybe... maybe it's just my interpretation of Frey in the book who seems more gloomier...

  • that is so not how the book is @!!!!

  • brilliant work, you should do more

  • A Million Little Pieces...Amazing

    My Friend Leonard...Brilliant

...His writing just keeps you reading

  • James Frey's book is amazing ...who cares if he exaddurated parts? its called artistic lisence... maks it more interesting. It wud hardly be dramatic if he was worried about going to prison for like 3 weeks :S

  • I thought that was great! Almost what I pictured in the book. I just wish it would have gone on....wish it was a movie.

    Loved the book.

  • radiohead!

  • that was the best fricking book i ever read.

you did a great job on this. not exactly how i pictured james [but i didnt even picture him to look like him... if that makes sense] but just right with joanne. crazy.

  • that was nothing how i pictured it to be.

    eeeegh.

  • wow, that was truly amazing. :)

  • is that the guy from rent?

  • whoaa, that is exactly how i pictured Joanne during reading! great video.

  • cool clip...i would love to see this book become a movie! i think everyone should read this-those who do drugs, did drugs, or have never done drugs. It's eye opening.

  • i love that book..it is in fact a true story, it's just exaggerated a little bit..that's all...

  • I suddenly realize that James Frey and a lot of other people lost a lot of money since "A Million Little Pieces" could have been a movie based on the book.

  • he looks like matt leinart

and i love this book im like half way threw but im sorta dissapointed that i figured out that this wasnt true but still a great book

  • i feel inlove with "a million little peices". it help me deal with my dad's adiction. I am still heartbroken from when i found out how much the book was fabricated. however, the book may not be true, but it is a beautiful story, and this adaptation of the book was just brillient. keep up the good work. i look forward to seeing more. i wouldnt mind seeing some other characters such as lilly and leonard

  • It was actually a guy quoted with those words.

And I wanna see the other characters depicted. Specially leonard. :P

  • Very well done..

    props to the actor!

  • love this book [=

  • you know what...who cares if it is a fake story...it isn't, it's just exagerated a lot, but y judge by it's reality

  • >that frey dude is a retard...make up a book....good scam

Hahahaha thats the dumbest thing I've read today

  • I'm sure you didn't read the book. Just by your comment.

  • i loved this book very much

  • Serious? This is good. James Frey wanted it to be emotionless, careless. This guy uses to much care, and some sense of sarcasm in his voice. James Frey pictured his character as a stone cold, constant eye-contact.

  • not really...

  • This is a good book! Who cares if he made up some of the story. He`s not the only one!

  • Fantastic! I absolutely loved this book and this adaptation recaptures the feeling the reader experiences when reading this book perfectly.

  • For Christ's sake, cut the voice over narration. You don't NEED any of it. You're supposed to be making a movie, not a book. Why film anything if you're just going to recite every dang word from the book over again?

  • Uh...cause its from the book...

  • I thought this was very well done! Nice job.

  • that frey dude is a retard...make up a book....good scam

  • Dosny everyone do that..harry potter. IT IS STILLA GOOD BOOK read it then judge.

  • Is it just me or would edward norton make a good lead in the movie?

  • wow. this is so awesome to see...

I'm really looking forward to Michel Gondry's film version of the book... I hope it'll kinda have the samy style as this...

  • you are my frigging hero.

  • Good adaptation! I'm about half way through the book right now and you've done a great job on the imagery and general feel of the story. Your film is very close to what I pieced together with my imagination. Good stuff but now you've got us all wanting more...

Great Job Mike! Keep up the good work.

  • you should do more parts of the book and make them into a video.

  • I'm glad i'm not the only person who peicesRaidoheadwith this book. They're all I could listen too while reading it. This was very well done. Keep it up. I love this book.

  • It's nice that you show that James didn't dare to look himself in the eye when he looks in the mirror.

  • I liked it, I only think it feels too silent in the begining. I don't know, I can't really explain it. But yeah, you should go watch the video that I made for this book. It was a project for Language arts, but it turned out pretty okay.

  • i liked it !! does anyone happen to know the song at the end ?

  • Read the credits dewd.

  • Wave of Mutilation - The Pixies

not their album version, but the version from the soundtrack to "pump up the volume" with Christian Slater.

  • Freaking awesome.

  • silvermgt. you're not bad dude... not bad at all. coming from someone who went through rehab and read james frey's book. you've done an alright job man

  • I haven't read 'A Million Little pieces' but, now that I've seen this, I'm going to.

  • good vomit scene, good make up...coulda used more of the Pixies song at the end there...good job, convincing even though the book was apparently a load of dog crap

  • omg, this is my faviort book!

  • that was really professional. Good job

  • This is pretty good. I could see someone else playing the lead actor, but the adaptation to film is well-edited and well-written.

  • Wonderful. Looking forward to seeing more.

  • Pretty good all things considered, a little too much VO and the actor really was just reguritating the lines instead of really feeling what the charecter was going through. Interesting work, 4 stars.
