Beyond what I said below, keep in mind that a plane's engines are 20 to 80 feet away from your seat in a plane, and you wouldn't hear them on a cell phone. The module on the Saturn 5 is hundreds of feet away from the engine output. You'd get lots of bass-ey vibration (loud) but it wouldn't come across on a little microphone in your helmet by your mouth - especially a gated microphone that cuts out to total silence at the end of your words.

Again, the rumble we are use to hear from rockets is produced the engine pressuring against the atmosphere. The rumble traveling through the body of the LEM due to engine activity isn't that loud. The craft are soundproofed. Do you think they would've survived the trip there if they could hear the rocket engines roaring?
