  • I might see some complications where the mechanics are obstructing the noise waves or actually interfering the quallity by producing to much extra noise from the mechanics. But it's interesting as it could produce alot more extra new options. Guitarist only have 2 hands to use for example.

On the other side, it might be easier to record specific single/combined tones and just mix them by computer software and replicate the sound that way.

  • Awesome... I've seen more such robots on youtube, but this one is pretty accurate and well designed. Nice work!

  • Fuck this. Fuck you technology, this will destroy human talent forever.

  • but does it tune itself?

  • @AaronFinan If it doesnt tune itself, its ok. the new robot guitar tunes itself.

  • I bet that robot gets ALL the ladies.

  • Who would dislike this. 10 people, all virgins, should go jack off and put their jizz in a milkshake and drink it

  • @50calpal1 10 people recognise this is destroying human talent

  • @KrossPoison1 it isnt destroying human talent. it is a talent in itself to make that contraption. It isnt a talent to play the guitar. it is a skill. i know because i have been playing for 6 years now

  • @50calpal1 To play guitar is a skill, to be good at composing and being able to play your composition yourself is talent. Maybe you don't have it.

  • Or you could have made a cd player

  • 2nd? and first?

  • Comment removed

  • AWESOME JOB! Now make a program that play "Stratovarius - Stratosphere" :D

  • how is this song called? :D (first one)

  • This ma- er- machine shall be the next Sinister GAYtes!!

  • i want the Good Riddance tab!!

  • No one has a comment about this robot playing green day. and it's good green day. None of that new age bullpoopy they put out. aahhh who am I kidding. I love all their stuff. boo me

  • What about a guitar playing a robot?!?!

  • @shannyfanny46 lmao

  • what about playing guitar hero with this ?

  • Great technique

  • its takes that many wires for something like that to be played by a robot. but only two hands to be played by a person

  • @rokinrussian A person is actually a much more complex thing than that robot.

  • @rokinrussian ... With a million nerves (like wires)

  • @MrJINZO666 The point is...advertising, they show off what they can make and people pay them to make other things :S use your brain lol

  • Thumbs up for me this took some hard work to make.

  • check out their drum and pan flute playing robots too

    at teamdare.nl

it all improved quite a lot since this thing of 2 years ago

  • how about some hendrix??

  • it just sounds like a midi file on guitar pro...perfect, but no soul

  • Beat that

  • It's Mcmlovin!!!

  • awesome

  • Pretty weird...

  • When machines are sentient we're fucked as a species.

I'm gonna become post-human first chance I get...

  • Does it work by playing MIDIs?

  • they day this machine plays metal we are all doomed

  • that is fucking amazing

  • Make it play some Hendrix!!

  • 2end place? BULLSHITT!! I say 1st place.

  • I quit lol..and by the way God doesn't exist

  • I quit. LOL

  • FREE BIRD!!!

  • make it play some ac dc or guns n roses!

  • midi controlled acoustic instruments ftw

  • great!

  • best mechanical guitar i've seen yet. you should try to make it play thunderstruck. its amazing how much work it takes for a robot to play a guitar but a human can do it pretty easily

  • @schmidtbag you call a couple thousand years of evoulution easy!! lol

  • @trumpettom001 god programmed us to play guitar, not evolution, you fool

  • @gdydd hahaha joke's on you! God doesn't exist!

  • @ennoidshun either you're an idiot who can't see sarcasm, or you're just really stupid because you can't see sarcasm

  • @ennoidshun YES!!! finaly someone that doesnt beleive in the fucker

  • Супер що ще скажеш!

  • I wonder what changing a string would be like...

  • ye should hook it up to an electric guitar and try to program the bot to play songs like "caprici di diablo" and "through the fire and flames" :D in the mean time great rig ya got there.

  • 0:30 is time of my life. thats the second song i learned how to play. the first one was iron man lol

  • Well, now I have to outdo this robot...

  • it will be good substitute for my audio player

  • Is the last song Apache?

    What's the first song?

  • @BrucePetty Dick Dale - Misourlou

  • Cute, gentle machine :-)

  • it kind of sounds like something you'd hear in MIDI format on a Super Nintendo game.

  • Brilliant!

  • Even if it has no soul, I prefer to hear the robot playing guitar than some of the people I know who can "play" guitar...

  • @RadioMasterDude It might not have one now, but that's soon to come.

  • @RadioMasterDude soooooooooo true

  • @RadioMasterDude Well you couldn't make it more obvious on how talentless you are.

  • @KrossPoison1 Dude, just because people appreciate this doesn't mean that they have no talent. It takes a lot of work to do this, you know.

    P. S. You might wanna check out their videos before you judge their "talent".

  • @RadioMasterDude HOLY SHIT YOU'RE FUCKING AWESOME I TAKE IT BACK

  • cross btwn, computer, guitar and a trype-writer, lol

  • clever, but a bit clicky - maybe add some little rubber feet to the fretting rods?

  • the green day melody is incorrect!

  • Thats awesome.

  • this is sad

  • MEN U DO ALL THAT SHIT CONECTIONS AND THAT STUFF FOR NOTHING

IT JUST DON´T HAVE A SOUL TO PLAY IT

  • can it tap? lol

  • 0:27 lol green day wtf? xD

  • Theres something missing in it....the FEELING!!!

  • NOOO, my job :( .

  • Respond to this video...NEED 3 to play "chantay pipeline"

  • WHERE IS THE FEELING?!?!?

  • @vicrss it's a fucking robot, how should it know how to express emotions!?

  • dale duroooooooo !!!

  • NO.

  • AWESOME!!!!

if this is 2nd place i wonder what's first!

  • you guys just like this because its green day

  • Misirlou=)

  • i saw this robot a couple of days ago. when it started playing misirlou, i declared it awesome...

  • Very special the way you are interested in guitar. I would like you to be closer of the guitar synthesizer. Especially concerning the trigger problem we meet on that kind of guitar. Congratulations...even though we can see it's still at the beginning of your researchs.

  • Dude, we don't build robots to replace actual musicians, we just build them because it's fun when you build something and it works out. Or at least, thats the moto of my computer's club "Build not to kill you but kill time" I'm not from team dare btw, i'm just some 15 year old hanging out in a highschool club.

  • i feel so bad for that poor guitar covered wt al that shi*

  • i cant wait till i can have one of those that i can hook my ipod up to imagine having a band instead of a stereo in your home entertainment system!!!!

  • @TheOpenmynded

    thatd be awesome dude

  • Thats such a brilliant idea. Maybe thats what theyll have in the future. You have all the instruments at home and the robots and you just downlaod the data files from iTunes or whatever and it plays for real in your home. Nice.

  • Nicely done...

  • how many miles of wire did you use in the building of this ?? COOL .

  • something onpredictable but in the end its right i hope you had the time of your life. take this photograph and time dont ask why i hope you had time of life fuck

  • cute! especially the last part when you modulate speed with red spot.

Would you tell me how you do that? which data you base on?

I am doing a robotic piano controlled by Arduino but I couldn't figure out this simple question.

Now I measure video frame difference and turn it into pitches. for example, more movement more notes.

  • lol, excellent robot and great choice of songs. You should try Deportation/Iguazu by Gustavo Santaolalla (Babel soundtrack) or a similar song. That would be amazing to see.

  • Is that Michael Angelo Batio?

  • This is absolutely amazing.

  • very impressive

  • wich is the song at 1:30??

  • I'm fairly sure the song is called 'High Chapperal' by 'The Shadows' - as is Hank Marvin, Cliff Richard et all.

  • @netsky3

    Misirlou

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

    Apache

    Sirtaki

  • They made pianos that play themselves.... cool that someone made a robot that can play an instrument like the guitar...fretting and all. As far emotion, well...its a robot. I am sure someday static arrangements that have sliding and vibrato and other emotional techniques would be used. It will be a long way from Stevie Ray Vaughn ...but robotics have gone far.

  • what is the song after the greenday song called?

  • Greenday - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

  • no, the song *after* the greenday song?

  • ohh srry, have no idea =(

  • @chinazach

    Apache (Shadows)

  • Parabéns, bom trabalho, fiquei impressionado. Congratulations good work.

  • Ζόρικα κόλπα!

  • That's pretty impressive

  • This is the future of electronic music, mark my words.

  • its funny how much this sounds like a midi playing of the songs, only its a real guitar making the noise

  • its just to perfect. theres no soul

  • Who needs soul when you play this accurately

  • @YahBabyYah500 Well it is a robot, I dont think robots have souls.

  • @FunkMasterFlex3 and thats where your wrong lol

  • @YahBabyYah500 obviously soul was not the purpose.

  • @YahBabyYah500 Did I hear Green Day somewhere in there?

anyway, it's a robot. Who knows if they have souls or not?

  • @YahBabyYah500 there is a soul...just hidden behind cases and wiring with a motherboard.

  • lol, looks like they kidnapped the guitar and are doing evil experiments on it!

  • lmao

  • what a troll-able vid

  • I'd love to see this machine do sweep picking :D

  • @xxRockst4r i want it to play a shawn lane shred solo. it would blow up.

  • @xxRockst4r it probably can do it better than any malmsteen ever could

  • @xxRockst4r lol yeah, preferably with 32'd :L

  • what sick fuck would make a robot play greenday. makes me want to barf

  • I don't get it, why are some people so upset about this machine?

  • A lot of things in our world are getting taken over by machines - it's just economical, efficient. I guess people don't want that to happen with music.

If anything, humans have the ability to feel and innovate - and those two things are required for music. I'm listening to this and although I recognize the notes and they sound pretty, I feel no connection to it whatsoever. It sounds empty to me.

  • You're not seeing the human part. Musical instruments don't play themselves, robots don't operate themselves.

  • But one day we will.

  • Sorry, I posted to soon. What I meant was that there's always a human on the other side of technology, just like in these Youtube comments.

If anything, things like these enable more humans to produce music.

  • I did miss the human part, but this is after watching the robot playing violin in Japan... so no, there isn't a human required at all times in machinery.

  • that was amazing

  • i just played this on guitar hero 2!

  • Imagine street performers (well the ones in the rich areas). Will just have one of these doing their work for them hah

  • lol misurlou

  • soaking with awesomness

  • Fail. Look up 'Misirlou'.

  • i think its even more amazing that it takes such a complex machine to perform the task a human can do.

  • Don't you think a human is much more complex than this machine?

  • but its nature... not only can a human play the music, we can put emotion into it. something a machine cant do.

  • Of coarse a human is more complex! A human built this stupid useless contraption. Lets see this machine build anything.

  • I think it's pretty funny that your comment is so poignantly anti-robot. What's useless about experimentation and progress?

The process, manfacture, and coding alone for this project will probably ensure all of the team members future projects, grants, and jobs. Not all advances in robotics and coding need to make something practically applicable to YOU for them to have value and relevence.

  • Who but you really cares then, Unless your one of those lucky people. It is pretty impressive though. I play guitar so I have to Laugh A little.

  • wow this sounds better than Green day itself. where can I buy a CD?

  • at least it sounds better than midi :D

  • this is fucking cool

  • 1:00 Something unpredictable and in the end its right I hope you have the time of your life

  • No shit, Sherlock?

  • NASA project?

  • lol can it tune itself?

  • sounds pretty good

  • they won't even need humans to play live music and the POINT IS ITS LIVEEE(ALIVE) MAN F""" ROBOTS its cool but scary

  • Youre stupid

  • there will always be human musicians that play live shows... just because a robot can be programmed to play something doesnt mean it can write music or entertain a crowd...

  • Hell, I wanna see it do a hammer on and pull off.

  • wonder what got first place

  • is that song from greenday the second one he plays?? it sounds familiar

  • yea it is

  • It's green day - Time of your life.

  • Sound like it " PUMP IT!"

  • wow. very clever

  • Did he spent much time for makeing this?

Heh..why did he make this for?

  • zorbas in the end hahahahha!

  • 0:27 = time of ur life XP this is fucking awesome

  • This guy is a genius!!!!!!!!!

  • technically, it isnt being played by a robot, robots cant think for themselves, its just doin what a code is telling it to

  • technically it IS being played by the robot. the code it telling the robot what to do (as code does for all robots) and the robot is carry out its task by playing the instrument.

  • i'm with you. the man writing the code can have no skills at playing a guitar.

  • And your limbs are being controlled by your brain.

    Brainwavesnshit - Code

    Human body - Robot "body"

  • dude, thats cool

  • Last number is: Sirtaki

  • it's actually "cretan dance", or widely known as the theme from "zorba the greek". :)
