  • I started out holding the pick between my thumb and index & middle finger. I've been holding the pick like that for 2 years now.

Just found out that it's not recommended so now I have to start all over again.

Don't make the same mistake as me. trust me.

  • @iKindaSmell Yea, same here.

It's not that hard to get used to a different pick holding though :D

  • i use heavy/extra heavy jim dunlop picks, and ive always had trouble keeping the pick between my index finger and thumb, it slips and slides while im trying to play thrash metal (Metallica, Pantera Etc), and i hold my pick in the middle of my index finger and thumb almost like a fist, but my Middle, ring and pinky are straight out, am i holding it wrong? any input is appreciated. thanks.

  • why do you have youre fingers like that?

  • Thanks for the tips :)

And nice guitar! it looks a BC Rich Warlock :) I have it, a Kerry King Signature but Bronze version, so no Kahler tremolo bar.

Unfortunately I'm not that good at playing guitar. I've been playing for 2 years but I never got a guitar lesson, so I learned all by myself....and I just can't hold the pick in that way! :(

  • Take your time, don't develop bad technique just because it's easier...you'll regret it and have to start over in the long run. ...trust me :(

  • @xWickedXRabbitx It's what has happened to me. =/, I can play fast tremelo, pinch harmonic, gallop whatever, but I hold the pic funny as hell and its ruining my speed. >.<
