thank you auto spies, you've rubber stamped my decision to buy the new 520d msport instead - good review but i really think the new 3 series interior is badly thought out, badly laid out and basically pretty horrific. I mean seriously - the coffee cup holders have a "part" you have to take off, the sat nav screen looks like they literally cut an ipad in half and glued it to the dash and the i-drive feels like the top of a milk carton....! if you want to buy an old school bmw, go 5 or 7.
Thanks Uploader, enjoyed the overview you gave of this great new BMW. Nice exterior and interior shots and acceleration footage. Looks like the 8 speed flappy paddle box is the one to get and definitely in sports trim.
I think you have a swayed opinion since you own them, having actually compared the three (yes, to buy one) the three series was very disappointing. The ride is terribly harsh, interrior is ok, but cheap compared to its competitors. I myself went with the MB C350. I would even take an a4 s line over the bmw
Don't mean to sound like a hater, but with that big speech at the beginning about why your automotive journalism style is so superior to others, I really expected a lot more than adjectives like "neat" and "interesting" combined with first person camera footage. Never heard a mention of what these cars are like to live with. Or any other hard data on how much the cabin has grown, actual MPG numbers, CO2 output or even horse power. Just saying, given that speech and all.
@5r4nd0n Thank you. You need to remember is we only had the car for about an hour to ourselves so we would have loved to do all you asked, we needed to use time wisely, so we gave a first impression.
Great review!! It's great BMW jumped on board the turbo 4 train!! However, I totally disagree with your comments about the interior. It's definitely an upgrade, but has a ways to go before its on par with audi's offerings. Also, I think you should be able to tuck that nav system away. Looks like it would get annoying.
spartan interieur at previous generations?? We all agree with the E9x, the interieur was bad. But take a look at the e46 and tell me the interieur in that car was bad. the e46 is 12 years old and has the best dash so far. don't talk about cars you dont know!
Lexus is a Toyota, will always be a Toyota and a Toyota will never be BMW or Audi. But remember: Gentlemen never drives less than 6 cylindres. BMW 328 with 4 cylindres? it`s a disgrace, shameful and sad.
@PlasticGSXR - wake up and smell the coffee. Today's 4-cylinder engines are remarkably quiet, smooth, and powerful. Audi has been doing this for years with their 2.0T engines and now BMW is finally getting on board.
Amazing the numbers here who are fixated on a 6 cylinder engine. Is prob because they are American and have no clue of gas prices outside of the US. With gas prices over $8 / gallon outside of the US, BMW are only responding to the global drive of all manufacturers to increase mpg while decreasing CO2. When the US gov finally chooses to deal with its deficit & increase taxes on gas like the rest of the world... The 320d auto with 62mpg = more sense and is just as quick in real world driving!
Oh okay so, autospies, you can tell us what it's like to own a 458? Virage? 991 Carrera S? I wouldn't try to put aside the much more viewed and praised magazines.
@Buttnut105 Well since NONE of those writers have ever owned or WILL never own one of those your question is useless. Most of them don't make enough to drive a Jetta. And WE get more views then they do. About 3 to 1. And by the way, their top ten and car of the year awards are the best awards MONEY can buy. It's ALL a fix and always has been. That's why I started Auto Spies. I HATE fixes. Sorry to burst your bubble
@autospies Oh please. People watch car videos to learn about the cars, to get an idea of what they're like to drive; especially cars they'll never be able to afford. I don't mind that any magazine has any agenda because I wouldn't ever buy a car just on what they say though I can't say I distrust them as much as you do. So, sorry to burst your bubble. I'll come back when I want to see a BMW review, you have plenty of those.
@autospies you probably never heard of EVO magazine, did you? check them out and learn how car reviews are done. I haven't heard a single word on how the car actually drives, that's a big fail, even for a "first impressions" vid.
I highly doubt anyone will mistake that four cylinder. I find the exterior to be, surprise surprise, a combination of the E46 (cut) with the E90 (rounded). However, a lot of the E46 class has been lost. The E46 just has this classical interior look that makes me happy when I drive and exterior that makes me happy when I approach. I understand tastes are subjective, but it seems BMWs are becoming less classic and more flashy toys.
For the same price I can get the Audi A4 with essentially the same engine except it would have the super practical all wheel drive and it comes with more features as standard. I don't see the appeal of the BMW anymore. Maybe someone can explain it to me.
@MrTyronePimp I think it's a matter of taste.. RWD is just more fun than 4WD, despite being less practical in slippery conditions. The engine of the audi is going to be different than the bmw. But again it's a matter of taste. Though the interior doesn't leave much room for discussion ugly as it may be it offers a LOT of gizmo's even in standard trim. And it's a bit to soon to say but for performance I think you should compare the 335i with the S4, and the to come M3 with the (to come?) RS4.
cmon man you praise the car like if it was a bugatti veyron, no complaints at all???
all the new bmws look like shit, the 1 series the new 3 series, the 7 series etc etc,
audi interiors are the best, id rather have a car that when people looks at it say omg that car looks amazing, instead of telling me that my car looks like shit even when it is a bmw, that way i wouldn't have to tell my friends that it looks like shit but has a great engine blah blah blah
First of all he praises he company for being better than normal motor journalists, because they reiew cars they actually have personal relationships with. Well.. he eems to be forgetting the huge bias that comes with reviewing a car type and model that you love. Second: he claims that you wouldn't know there's a four cylinder in the new 328. Well.. Any fool with the sligtest knowledge of engines will hear it's a four cylinder the minute he fires it up.
@jo05dk - Don't be so quick to judge. These new engines are so smooth and quiet that it is pretty much impossible to tell how many cylinders they have just by listening to the engine. BTW, you can't hear individual cylinders firing, even at idle speed.
@EvenSteven2004 Are you saying that you can't tell the difference between a four and a six cylinder? Listen to the car man.. It's obvious it's a four cylinder, even more so when it accelerates.
Not that i mind the idea of the four cylinder. From everything i've heard about the 328 it's a freaking amazing engine, and the economy figures can't be faulted. To me it's a part of the new 3-series lean and mean image, and -after getting used to the idea- i like it.
@jo05dk - What I'm saying is this: If I blindfolded you and then put you behind the wheel of an Audi 2.0T or the new BMW 2.0T and told you start the engine, you'd have no idea if the car had a 4-cylinder engine or a 6-cylinder engine. The reason is because this new generation of engines is so smooth and so quiet that there's no difference in the way they sound or feel from inside the car. If you don't believe it, take a trip down to your local Audi or BMW dealer and see for yourself.
@EvenSteven2004 - Ok sure haha.. I used to be a Service Adviser at Penske Audi. How bout you start with a google search of "Audi 2.0T problems" and you'll be shocked. We've had record lease breaks, returns, and pre-sales of the models with 2.0T engine. Ask any enthusiast and they'll tell you their past motors were crap as well. The 1.8T (recalled and replaced entirely) the 3.0 V6, 2.7T those were all bad. Their best motor is the 4.2L V8. And so far the new 3.0T is catching up on issues
@IPGAuto - You're an idiot. I can google problems for any car and any engine and be shocked at the results. So you were a writer and you think that qualifies you for knowing something? LOL If Audi engines were as bad as you're saying, nobody would be buying Audi vehicles at all. So save your BS for someone who doesn't know better. BTW, I used to be an ASE Master Tech, so I know a little bit about engines.
@EvenSteven2004 - Your a dumbass. Neither Mercedes or BMW had anywhere close to as many problems. Actually, lets take a look and see that both Mercedes and BMW placed in the top ten contenders for reliability. Where was Audi/Volkswagen, with Jaguar and Land Rover.. LAST. I've been around these longer than you've been breathing. Go ahead buy it, I don't give a damn. Your not changing the FACT that their motors are shit. Good ASE Tech, vs Audi S-A whos been around them for years and years.
@IPGAuto - If you think MB or BMW are considered reliable, then you must be a complete idiot. Sorry, but if you want to talk reliability, then talk about Honda or Toyota, not a German brand. Go look up the reliability data yourself...you're be in for a shock if you think ANY German car is on the top of the list. But like I said, I'm a former tech and I do all my own work. I've owned Audis for the last 10 years and they have been VERY reliable. LOL at you for being a writer for Audi.
@EvenSteven2004 - Actually.. not to burst your bubble but Porsche is ranked 3rd, where Lexus and Toyota come 1st and 2nd. Again, could care less since I know that the 2.0T motor is shit. Their past 1.8T was shit, recalled and replaced entirely. Good luck working on Audis
@IPGAuto - Now you bring up Porsche? LOL What happened to MB & BMW? Keep flip flopping...lol. Like I said, the Japs are on top now and always will be. And since you can't read, I said I'm a former Audi tech. That's still better than being a Penske writer. You were nothing but a parts salesman and like most of those losers, you know nothing about cars.
@EvenSteven2004 - You dummy... You said no German car is reliable so I brought up Porsche. Great, well while you fixed what I wrote up.. I know how many complaints the 2.0T has gotten so yet again your not going to unconvince me otherwise.
@IPGAuto - And you said BMW & MB are reliable. That in itself is a laugh riot. Porsche is a non-factor because they sell very few cars overall. BTW, I own a B8 Audi 2.0T and it has been 100% perfect, no issues whatsoever. You worked as a writer, so you only see people with problems. That's like working in a hospital and thinking that everyone in the world is always sick. You're a fool.
@EvenSteven2004 - Mercedes contended for top ten most reliable. Jeeze, do you use facts at all? Your the fool. Google Audi 2.0T engine problems. Its got more ConsumerReports negatives than any import brand. Search man search.. Get facts, I don't need your OPINION.
@IPGAuto - Sorry, you're wrong again. I'm looking at Consumer Reports right now (since you mentioned them) and the only European manufacturer in the top ten is Volvo (they are #10). MB is toward the bottom of the list, along with Land Rover. How's that for facts? Read it and weep, loser.
@EvenSteven2004 - Im talking about reliability of no problems. ConsumerReports rate things like function/idea/usability. In that sense, sure they rank lower, but BMW/Benz vs Audi.. Audi is below
@IPGAuto - So you make the claims, but don't cite your source? Tell me where you found reliability data for "no problems" on all cars. Are you talking about JD Powers initial quality? That's not about "no problems", it's about reliability for the first 90 days of ownership. And even then BMW & MB are not near the top of the list.
@nnguyen2 - Lets put it this way.. The 2.0T and 3.0T motors from Audi have huge complaints. Google Audi 2.0T engine problems and your in for a mine field. They burn a lot of oil, which most owners don't know.. runs low on oil and increases engine wear a lot and reduces engine life a lot. Their transmissions are weak, differentials are weak. I compare Audi to a gorgeous model. Looks good with all the make-up but underneath its no bueno. Go 3-Series. Its about to have a waiting list. Amazing car.
@IPGAuto - Negative. Audi engines are solid and don't have a lot of problems. While oil consumption may seem excessive, the fact of the matter is that it is almost always within acceptable limits and it drops off as the engines are broken in and get some miles on them. Transmissions and differentials are rock solid on Audi vehicles. But still, all cars have problems. Funny how you didn't mention the HPFP issues that BMW has been experiences for many years now.
@nnguyen2 335i is very fast car. However, they did cripple it for this year due to the new body and the newer engines (starting 2010?) which are harder to "chip." The new 335i looks nice! If you are into style, the A5 is gorgeous- in my opinion. A5 is a bit under-powered for my taste.
@thetaobear88 yeah I agree, the A5 is definitely nice looking, even better than this BMW in my opinion. but the Audi is a rather heavy car, paired with too small an engine imo.
Hey, how much did this car cost with these pacakges? I live in canada, so its more expensive but at least i'tll give me a hint because i currently have the 2010 328 xdrive and am looking forward into buying a new one.
"Former models look less nice inside than Lexus" !?!?! Even compares Lexus with Audi fabric and buils wise. Wow those US guys really like over the top plastics
@ThePimz123 well this reviewer says that Lexus interiors look better than those of BMW and compares them even to those of Audi. I thought #WTF, i think Lexus interiors look like a heap of ill designed plastic. I'm not an Audi fan (because of lack of character) but their interiors are second to none. Comparing Lexus to that is not making this reviewer very plausible.
I love BMW's and I'd be the first to be biased here, but starting the video with that whole "we are sooo objective, unlike the car magazines" bit and then praising the car silly, it doesn't fly man.
In the states this particular model will makes no SENSE at all! For the majority everyone drives a 328i however when priced out to the options similarly equipped on many of its rivals it exceeds way beyond the price of the more potent 335i which already comes well equipped as standard. The 335i starts at $42K..... this is a 4 cylinder 328i and with all these options it prices out to well over $50,000..... call it what you want but that is STUPID!
I'm kind of sad that BMW took away the traditional side markers from the new 3 series but the Integrated turn signals on the side view mirrors aren't a horrible transition either. Just wish they would have kept at least one traditional design Q.
Terrible design for the navigation screen. I've already been behind the wheel of a new 3-series and I can tell you that there are far too many reflections in the nav screen because it has zero shielding. Trust me, plenty of BMW owners will complain about this once we see more of these cars on the roads. Overall, I'm not impressed with the interior design. Audi is still miles ahead when it comes to interior design.
Those russians at the end are really not making this any better. But thanks for the video, I liked it very much. Love to see everything close up many times and slowly unlike in the reviews. Oh and, I am working for a car magazine myself....
this is the old model redesigned.. the side line of the windows show that this is not "all new" and the guy who is speaking is manipulating.. Besides.. interior looks even more asian alike..
This interior is almost the same as the new 5 series, and let me tell you this i have the new 5 series, the ac button started fading, the steering wheel volume buttons also faded in less than a year,i also have a 2007 mazda 3 with shitty interior and yet none of this shit ever happened so please don't talk about BMW quality and by the way my bro has a 2010 bmw X5,his door handles started peeling..never gonna buy a BMW ever again.
Something is wrong with this car.The buttons to open and close the doors are completely out of date. The red stripe on the dashboard makes it look cheap. The steering wheel is so very ugly. At least you should clean the interior carpets. I definitely do not buy it.
still not a good looking at the S4 or the G37....also 42k for a 2012 335i sedan?!.....that just crazy if you ask me...BMW has gone off the deep end with prices
Before the new 3 series came out my favorite sedan in this class was the Infiniti G37 next to the BMW 3 series but now I can actually say I am really loving this new 328i sedan. Their standards are so much more on par with their competitors now. Before I was so put off by the lack of standards they offered, manual seats on basic models where a joke and cheap looking, there was no LCD infotainment system like on Infiniti and Audi's and the style of the previous 3 series was just lacking.
I could tell immediately that it is not an inline 6. The sound is just not the same. The inline 6 sounds, revs and runs incredibly smooth. Also, the whole car is overgrown the 3 series mark. The 1 series is the new 3 series :) The front end is a little bit ugly, much like the 6 series used to be, and the interiour may be good quality, but i prefered the simplistic very underrated look of the 3 series without all the chrome/shiny plastic bits inside the cabin.
Its not that I do not believe journalist, but they only tell you about when a car is new. No one tells you about the long term reliability of cars like BMW. Consumers is about the only mag that does this. Any car can be wonderful when it is new, what about the next 3 to 10 years of use?
@TheKevin34162 Its already up on the BMW website, pricing for the 2012 328i starts at $34,900 and pricing for the 2012 335i starts at $42,400. This particular model is a 2012 328i Sport line, with all these options this vehicle will price put to just under $50,000 however if you asked me, that was a waste of money on his part. I would have opted for the more powerful 335i in a heart beat for the money he spent on this 4 cylinder 3 series.
@Johncarson9113 Yeah the 335i is the only way to go on these cars. The idiots who buy the 4 cylinder models and load them up with the features only care about bragging rights and the badge. The 4 cyl isn't bad but a BMW is best appreciated with that silky smooth I6 motor.
Ok the interior of the old 3 series was great, I don't like the new naw,it is too hi, and the cup for drinks was better in the old one, and those red lines don't fit in a premium car. For now I will stay with the old one. Anyway BMW is great
I agree that BMW interiors are typically Spartan, but I bought my 330i for the performance. You gotta admire their cars ... even the entry-level ones. I've driven Audi, Benz, VW and Porsche. I like all of them, but love the Beemer. Not always great for the backseat passengers when you drive it hard. But what else can you say... IT IS a driver's car.
So I'm a current 2011 Audi S4 owner; last car was an '08 335i. I do like this car a lot better than the outgoing E90, especially the interior, but I don't like that hood seam across the front of the car. I don't see why BMW didn't extend that hood line down through the top of the headlights and over the kidney grills. That would be a much better look. Overall, I like it though.
all you little girls who keep callin it a poor mans bmw need to wake up, 3Series is an entery level, and mind you this new one comes with more standard features, and options Audi, and MB dont offer to their lower cars... So in a sense the A4 is a poor mans Audi, and the C300 is a poor mans Mercedes... So you kinda made no point... Moron.
This is BMW NA strategy for the 3 series...flood the market with heavily subsidized leases...then sell them at heavy losses when the lessee returns the car...
From a strategy standpoint...it's an obvious copy of the A4...4 cylinder turbo with an 8 speed...GOD, this guy doing the reviews who's obviously been paid off by BMW seems to be oooooing and aaaaaing over the thing like it's the first car out that with that combo...
3 series...the poor mans bmw. Bmw throwin their hand in making money by offering a cheap model so ppl can say i drive a bmw. Rather drive a dodge charger over this girly dated car.
At first, u mentioned other reviews said the car was soft. After all, do u feel if it is soft? Does It Deliver The Knockout Punch Again To Audi, MB, Lexus And The Rest?
The new remote keys for this car are pretty sweet, they come in different colors so you can match your key with the paint...why do I feel like BMW is trying to become the automotive equivalent of Apple?
People talk about how Audi's are the ones that look too alike...well BMW now takes the crown on that one! With this new model the 3, 5, and 7 series all look alike...great review
Well,I've been waiting for this model in order to change my Merc C230Kompressor 05'.BMW with a new twin turbo 2liter motor,I think that would be the best car in this class? We will see?
my E 90 320d sport has no buttons and I like it...it holds a road like no other car in the class..what the hell do I need gizmos and gadgets in the car.I dunno know what the fuck I pad,I whatever is... Anyhow..They will never beat E46 coupe for drivability

All the spiel about offering a superior review and nothing about handling. The whole point of a BMW is how it drives.
He spent the same amount of time talking about the interior stitching as he did driving the car. Perhaps he should review knitwear instead of cars.

Point and shoot...really?
vothry 1 week ago
I highly doubt anyone will mistake that four cylinder. I find the exterior to be, surprise surprise, a combination of the E46 (cut) with the E90 (rounded). However, a lot of the E46 class has been lost. The E46 just has this classical interior look that makes me happy when I drive and exterior that makes me happy when I approach. I understand tastes are subjective, but it seems BMWs are becoming less classic and more flashy toys.
COMSsalC 1 week ago
For the same price I can get the Audi A4 with essentially the same engine except it would have the super practical all wheel drive and it comes with more features as standard. I don't see the appeal of the BMW anymore. Maybe someone can explain it to me.
MrTyronePimp 1 week ago
@MrTyronePimp I think it's a matter of taste.. RWD is just more fun than 4WD, despite being less practical in slippery conditions. The engine of the audi is going to be different than the bmw. But again it's a matter of taste. Though the interior doesn't leave much room for discussion ugly as it may be it offers a LOT of gizmo's even in standard trim. And it's a bit to soon to say but for performance I think you should compare the 335i with the S4, and the to come M3 with the (to come?) RS4.
jezof89 1 week ago
@MrTyronePimp The A4 engine is weak compared to this one. Sure they're both turbo 4's but the BMW has way more power.
triplebts 1 week ago
@triplebts 30 hp difference, same torque... I wouldn't say way more power, but a little peppier.
MrTyronePimp 1 week ago
cmon man you praise the car like if it was a bugatti veyron, no complaints at all???
all the new bmws look like shit, the 1 series the new 3 series, the 7 series etc etc,
audi interiors are the best, id rather have a car that when people looks at it say omg that car looks amazing, instead of telling me that my car looks like shit even when it is a bmw, that way i wouldn't have to tell my friends that it looks like shit but has a great engine blah blah blah

KINO2x 1 week ago
Thi guy made me laugh for two reasons.
Well.. Any fool with the sligtest knowledge of engines will hear it's a four cylinder the minute he fires it up.
jo05dk 1 week ago
@jo05dk - Don't be so quick to judge. These new engines are so smooth and quiet that it is pretty much impossible to tell how many cylinders they have just by listening to the engine. BTW, you can't hear individual cylinders firing, even at idle speed.
EvenSteven2004 1 week ago
@EvenSteven2004 Are you saying that you can't tell the difference between a four and a six cylinder? Listen to the car man.. It's obvious it's a four cylinder, even more so when it accelerates.
Not that i mind the idea of the four cylinder. From everything i've heard about the 328 it's a freaking amazing engine, and the economy figures can't be faulted. To me it's a part of the new 3-series lean and mean image, and -after getting used to the idea- i like it.
jo05dk 1 week ago
@jo05dk - What I'm saying is this: If I blindfolded you and then put you behind the wheel of an Audi 2.0T or the new BMW 2.0T and told you start the engine, you'd have no idea if the car had a 4-cylinder engine or a 6-cylinder engine. The reason is because this new generation of engines is so smooth and so quiet that there's no difference in the way they sound or feel from inside the car. If you don't believe it, take a trip down to your local Audi or BMW dealer and see for yourself.
EvenSteven2004 1 week ago
@EvenSteven2004 - Ok sure haha.. I used to be a Service Adviser at Penske Audi. How bout you start with a google search of "Audi 2.0T problems" and you'll be shocked. We've had record lease breaks, returns, and pre-sales of the models with 2.0T engine. Ask any enthusiast and they'll tell you their past motors were crap as well. The 1.8T (recalled and replaced entirely) the 3.0 V6, 2.7T those were all bad. Their best motor is the 4.2L V8. And so far the new 3.0T is catching up on issues
IPGAuto 1 week ago
@IPGAuto - You're an idiot. I can google problems for any car and any engine and be shocked at the results. So you were a writer and you think that qualifies you for knowing something? LOL If Audi engines were as bad as you're saying, nobody would be buying Audi vehicles at all. So save your BS for someone who doesn't know better. BTW, I used to be an ASE Master Tech, so I know a little bit about engines.
EvenSteven2004 1 week ago
@EvenSteven2004 - Your a dumbass. Neither Mercedes or BMW had anywhere close to as many problems. Actually, lets take a look and see that both Mercedes and BMW placed in the top ten contenders for reliability. Where was Audi/Volkswagen, with Jaguar and Land Rover.. LAST. I've been around these longer than you've been breathing. Go ahead buy it, I don't give a damn. Your not changing the FACT that their motors are shit. Good ASE Tech, vs Audi S-A whos been around them for years and years.
IPGAuto 1 week ago
@IPGAuto - If you think MB or BMW are considered reliable, then you must be a complete idiot. Sorry, but if you want to talk reliability, then talk about Honda or Toyota, not a German brand. Go look up the reliability data yourself...you're be in for a shock if you think ANY German car is on the top of the list. But like I said, I'm a former tech and I do all my own work. I've owned Audis for the last 10 years and they have been VERY reliable. LOL at you for being a writer for Audi.
EvenSteven2004 6 days ago
@EvenSteven2004 - Actually.. not to burst your bubble but Porsche is ranked 3rd, where Lexus and Toyota come 1st and 2nd. Again, could care less since I know that the 2.0T motor is shit. Their past 1.8T was shit, recalled and replaced entirely. Good luck working on Audis
IPGAuto 6 days ago
@IPGAuto - Now you bring up Porsche? LOL What happened to MB & BMW? Keep flip flopping...lol. Like I said, the Japs are on top now and always will be. And since you can't read, I said I'm a former Audi tech. That's still better than being a Penske writer. You were nothing but a parts salesman and like most of those losers, you know nothing about cars.
EvenSteven2004 6 days ago
@EvenSteven2004 - You dummy... You said no German car is reliable so I brought up Porsche. Great, well while you fixed what I wrote up.. I know how many complaints the 2.0T has gotten so yet again your not going to unconvince me otherwise.
IPGAuto 5 days ago
@IPGAuto - And you said BMW & MB are reliable. That in itself is a laugh riot. Porsche is a non-factor because they sell very few cars overall. BTW, I own a B8 Audi 2.0T and it has been 100% perfect, no issues whatsoever. You worked as a writer, so you only see people with problems. That's like working in a hospital and thinking that everyone in the world is always sick. You're a fool.
EvenSteven2004 4 days ago
@EvenSteven2004 - Mercedes contended for top ten most reliable. Jeeze, do you use facts at all? Your the fool. Google Audi 2.0T engine problems. Its got more ConsumerReports negatives than any import brand. Search man search.. Get facts, I don't need your OPINION.
IPGAuto 4 days ago
@IPGAuto - Sorry, you're wrong again. I'm looking at Consumer Reports right now (since you mentioned them) and the only European manufacturer in the top ten is Volvo (they are #10). MB is toward the bottom of the list, along with Land Rover. How's that for facts? Read it and weep, loser.
EvenSteven2004 3 days ago
@EvenSteven2004 - Im talking about reliability of no problems. ConsumerReports rate things like function/idea/usability. In that sense, sure they rank lower, but BMW/Benz vs Audi.. Audi is below
IPGAuto 3 days ago
@IPGAuto - So you make the claims, but don't cite your source? Tell me where you found reliability data for "no problems" on all cars. Are you talking about JD Powers initial quality? That's not about "no problems", it's about reliability for the first 90 days of ownership. And even then BMW & MB are not near the top of the list.

I am planning on getting a car within the next 2-3 months. So.....BMW 2012 335i (release in Feb 2012)or Audi 2013 A5 (release in July 2012)
Help me please!!! I can't decide!
nnguyen2 1 week ago
@nnguyen2 - Lets put it this way.. The 2.0T and 3.0T motors from Audi have huge complaints. Google Audi 2.0T engine problems and your in for a mine field. They burn a lot of oil, which most owners don't know.. runs low on oil and increases engine wear a lot and reduces engine life a lot. Their transmissions are weak, differentials are weak. I compare Audi to a gorgeous model. Looks good with all the make-up but underneath its no bueno. Go 3-Series. Its about to have a waiting list. Amazing car.
IPGAuto 1 week ago
@IPGAuto - Negative. Audi engines are solid and don't have a lot of problems. While oil consumption may seem excessive, the fact of the matter is that it is almost always within acceptable limits and it drops off as the engines are broken in and get some miles on them. Transmissions and differentials are rock solid on Audi vehicles. But still, all cars have problems. Funny how you didn't mention the HPFP issues that BMW has been experiences for many years now.
EvenSteven2004 1 week ago
@nnguyen2 335i is very fast car. However, they did cripple it for this year due to the new body and the newer engines (starting 2010?) which are harder to "chip." The new 335i looks nice! If you are into style, the A5 is gorgeous- in my opinion. A5 is a bit under-powered for my taste.
thetaobear88 1 week ago
@thetaobear88 yeah I agree, the A5 is definitely nice looking, even better than this BMW in my opinion. but the Audi is a rather heavy car, paired with too small an engine imo.

Johncarson9113 3 weeks ago 2
@Johncarson9113 Yeah the 335i is the only way to go on these cars. The idiots who buy the 4 cylinder models and load them up with the features only care about bragging rights and the badge. The 4 cyl isn't bad but a BMW is best appreciated with that silky smooth I6 motor.
