Put half blocks in between the farm lines (over the water). There's still water and you wont crush your plants. Also, use shift to crouch when building on the edges of things.

@HmmDunnoMyName oh so the water still flows underneath, ingenious. And is there a hidden trick to the crouch or is it just so that you move slower and have less likelyhood too fall? Good comment thanks
