over the past 30 years in america, we've had a libertarian approach to economics. now the middle class is the smallest it's been in 30 years and it's shrinking. the whole libertarian thing has failed, whether some care to admit it or not.
@exbronco1980, "over the past 30 years in america, we've had a libertarian approach to economics." Unfortunatley not. Name one libertarian president. There hasn't been one for maybe a century, Calvin Coolidge was libertarian-ish I think. And at least their policies work in practice and in theory, the whole communist thing can't do either.
what do you call reagan saying "government is not the solution, it's the problem"? what do you call bill clinton signing welfare reform and the gramm leach bliley act? the GLB act deregulated wall street. what do you call george w. bush's huge 2001 and 2003 tax cuts? maybe we have not had a pure libertarian president, but the past 30 years has definitely had a libertarian quality to it.
@exbronco1980, tax cuts are not libertarian, most libertarians are for uniform taxes, not tilted one way or the other. I won't deny that many of the past presidents have been libertarian, but Obama turned out to support much of the same policies as bush, who did the same as before him. It's either they don't care, or they are subject to the same political forces and special interest groups as everyone else.
@exbronco1980, anyways, I found an objective list of presidents ranked by how libertarian they were (scored by number of pro or con libertarian policies they enacted, etc.) Raegen is 21, Clinton 29, bush 36, all at least half way down the list.
Obama and the democrats are just more of the status quo. It may not be likely, but it certainly would be better if we got a libertarian president next time around. Anyways, do you have any real argument against libertarianism?
yes, all media- tv, websites, books, magazines and newspapers are owned by the state and hence leftwing. all media, that is, except fox news and the wall street journal and you. that's why no newspapers in 2000 and 04 endorsed george w. bush. that's why right wingers never come out with books. u sure like denying reality.
How many "could you imagin if...'s" must we endure from you wingnuts? LOL! Crybabies, loonies and sycophants, ...not to even mention 'cultists'. Why did Reagan shut down the mental institutions?
Furthermore, by taking that financial burden of paying for people with expensive health needs away from business, you are keeping more jobs inside of our borders and preventing them from leaving our borders for cheaper countries.
But it just behoves me people aren't willing to make this sacrifice, what do you have to loose? To me, not risking personal bankruptcy from healthcare costs helps to ensure financial security for every healthy and sick American.
Besides, I can understand why nobody seems to be for single-payer. Healthcare costs money and the money has to come from somewhere. Either you are going to risk paying a for-profit HMO with the chance of going bankrupt when they decide to drop you, OR you allow a non-profit institution to NOT deny or drop your coverage. PLUS, you can go from job to job and not worry about your health benefits going anywhere. You will have the same coverage as our folks in the military get from the VA.
1990 pages...what you should be asking is why isn't the media doing a better job of reporting what is in the bill on TV? Grant it, some websites in the past did post PDF copies of the regular Senate bill and the GOP's bill on their website (CNN was one). Most people in America have access to the Internet via their home, school, library, place of work, etc. If you didn't have the intuition to download it and read it for yourself, shame on you for not keeping yourself properly informed.
Which administration was RESPONSIBLE for the recession again?
And 'jobs saved'= number of jobs that were predicted to disappear yet didn't, while 'jobs created'= number of jobs created. It's not really that complicated.
we all know the Senate Bill is only 209 pages long, right?
The complete bill that was published in the Congressional Record in the official and conventional manner, in size 12 font and times new roman type and not double spaced. You know like everything else we have ever read in our lives.
Now I'm actually pissed its not long enough, only 209 pages?
Honestly, how can you take someone serously7 when they lie all the time?
Yeah. Take a look at those 1990 pages. The text is HUGE. It doesn't look like one page is over 200 words long. You can see it in a video called "HR 3962 Sample Health Care Bill- 1,990 pages- 2 volume set" Get a grip people. You can read the damn thing online for Pete's sake.
1. The Stimulus package is meant to create SPECIFIC JOBS; jobs that are outlined. If you're upset about the unemployment rate then go complain to your private sector.
2. 80-90% already have insurance through work. The public option makes it cheaper for college kids, part time workers, small businesses, and the self employed. The coverage is not free. No one who makes under a quarter of a million dollars a year will be taxed for it. Taxing for it will end after 10 years.
GOP John Dennis is running against Pelosi in 2010. MAKE SURE EVERYBODY YOU KNOW IN SAN FRANCISCO KNOWS THIS!!! This time, they have NO EXCUSES. VOTE PELOSI OUT!!!
lol all health insurance companies already have price controls. So the GDP spending of other countries does matter. I would love to see one health insurance company that doesnt have price controls. Goto the doctor for a physical, he bills your insurance company $100,000. There is a reason that doesnt happen.
Countries (like mine) with nationalized health care do have lower expenses but that's because they don't treat people but make them die while waiting for treatment.
It's easy to have low health care expenses when you don't treat people.
@MigDanskeren Then why is it that Canada, the United Kingdom, France and 46 other countries and territories INCLUDING your lovely country of Denmark ALL have higher life expectancies than the United States?
We taking your medical technology and putting price control on it? No, we are buying our medical technology from the manufacturer with the patents as you do. You do not own the technology ether. The patents of the technology is mostly owned by companies in western Europe, Australia, North America and Asia. The medical methods is developed in many different countries in different eras including in Nazi German and Japanese experiment camps.
obamama supporters don't think - they idolize their saviour and hate those mean-spirited Republicans. No matter what he does, they applaud it. Besides, the main stream media are telling them evrything is hunky dory and MUC better than when we Presdient Bush at the helm. They'd rather have their ruler than a leader.
Oh yeah, the "started 2 wars and left us hanging on both while not raising any taxes to responsibly pay for it" leader. The leader who brought us the Patriot Act which bypasses using warrants to search anyone's home of which Obama continues to keep in place. Democrats are not your saviours and neither are Republicans. The sooner people realize that, the better.
You mean one where anyone can RSVP ahead of time and come in? Or the one where any capitol hill staff can show their badge and come in? Or the one where anyone can still be there without RSVPing, they just had to stand on the other side of the gated off area, which was well within sight and hearing range of everything? That much was proven to us, because we could easily hear the people who didn't get in shouting at us with their megaphones.
lee, your videos were always kinda out there, a little controversial, but in this one you really lost me. i mean, you take spinning the truth to a new level. you''re getting played by the republicans. they don't work for you, they work for the lobbyists. you'er an idiot, man, that's all there is to it
this is your best video ive seen. if people cant realize the absurd things happening in our country after watching this then they are absolutely stupid and ignorant to the facts
jnicelap managed to get a typical left-wing ad hominem attack AND the "teabag" buzzword out, all within only 20 words. Note the lack of a logical counter-argument. It's nice to see the left is really upping their game.
jnicelap, I think you've said quite enough. I supported those that stood up and spoke out against bloated gov't and careless spending, and I don't watch FOX. Last year, dressing Bush like Hitler and burning him in effigy was "patriotic." Now speaking out against spending is an "Un-American Fox new operation." Pathetic. Just because you need to tune into MSNBC to find out what sort of leftist crap you're supposed to regurgitate, don't assume those that disagree do the same with Fox.
The work perfomed by the shadow army is poorly monitored and ineffectively controlled. We have not seen good results from these "contractors", from reports in the press, but they have cost the taxpayers in this country dearly.
It seems that "friends" of the past administration engourged themselves at the public war trough.
Economic illeterates? LOL! You pay more money for health insurance and you have less people insured than European countries. Are prices in Europe controlled by gouverment? HELL YEA, IT IS CALLED PUBLIC OPTION. The US doesn't only have an ineficient monetary sistem, it also KILLS 18000 people a year for lacking of health coverage. Nazis killed Jews, the US kills poor people with no health insurance. If you have money for terrorist wars like in Iraq, you also have money for universal health care
...how do you relate "...Nazis killed Jews, the US kills poor people with no health insurance." no one is looking for these people and purposely fucking shooting them in the head, you fucking idiot. I see more fucking poor people getting treated in the ER then people with real fucking medical conditions. Oh but i am on welfare and white trash and my kid has a cough but i ve been using all the robotussin to get high so i need some for free. They;re killing themselves
Killing and letting people diying is the same. 18000 people die every year in the US for not beeing covered and the gouverment allowds that. That means that for the US Gov they deserve to die because they are poor. If they were killed by terrorists they would be honoured as heros, if they get killed by poverty and diseasses they deserve it. You care more about making CEO of health insurances rich, than peoples' lives. You are disgusting
As a conservative, I should be against public healthcare out of principle. As a Canadian who has it, has used it, and has never paid a dime for fractured bones and even surgery, I can say that you Americans don't know what you're missing. Something a bit ironic: a national standing army is a very socialist concept, and the USA has a BIG one of those. Public executions OK, public medicine not OK. Seems kind of backwards to me.
The statement he made about how the media want to see a black succeed ast the quarterback position so much that they touted Donovan McNabb as a good quarterback when Rush did not feel he was. McNabb was and continues to be a good quarterback.
Rush can have whatever opinion he wants about McNabb, but attributing others positive reviews of McNabb to reverse racism was a political stance that was not necessary. He could not keep his politics out if his sports commentary and he paid the price.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
as for the "rationing" healthcare, well if the USA would get that "only we can make it" shite off drugs etc which would reduce the cost of them(afterall, compitition), maybe rationing wouldnt be an issue now would it?
*cough* Congress approved military action, so Bush didn't go to war "illegally." If he did, why did Congress not impeach him? Fr that matter, why did they continue to approve funding for the war? *cough*
Mom suffered greatly in the hospital, but was very comfortable with the hospice care at home. I believe that the hospice care made her remaining time with us very comfortable and peaceful compared to the torture that she experienced during her hospitalizations. Hospice care did not shorten her life and made her passing less traumatic for her and for her family.
Hospice care also helped to save enormous resources that was used to help others.
Another way to control end-of-life health care costs is (no...not death panels),but the judicious use of hospice care for the terminally ill.
My mother suffered greatlytoward the end of her life. She had Alzheimers disease, diabetes and many complications of these diseases. We ran with her to the hospital on many occasions and ran up enormous (Medicare) bills for those hospitalizations.
This could have been avoided with good hospice care...prolonged hospice care.
What would the numbers be if everyone were in Medicare and that all (or even a portion) of the money that is paid to private insurance companies is, instead, fed into a more autonomous (free from arbitrary political machinations) Medicare system?
Actually, averagejoe, Medicare runs pretty well and has a low operating expense when compared with private insurers (Medicare does not have to show a profit, pay enormous bonuses to executives or answer to shareholders). "Waste , fraud and abuse" is a catch phrase used to explain away costs that may or may not be due to mismanagement. I does not really apply to Medicare. Cost comes from the population they care for...the elderly: those not covered, for the most part, by private insurance.
If we spread the cost of Medicare to the entire population, making coverage mandatory to everyone and shifting a good portion of the dollars now going into profit-oriented private insurance companies into the Medicare coffers and couple that with emphasis on preventative care, better dies, exercise and rational, comforting end of life care, we can probably pull it off without much stress.
But that is in the best of all possible worlds, eh Voltaire?
Thank you for your well informed and thoughtful comment. It is delightful to know that there are knowledgeable unbiased scholars like you in America poised to solve all of our problems.
Really, jsnappa, lets be civil. And base your comments on reality and facts, not ideology.
U r aware that the proposed gov. controlled health care bill has nothing to do w/ good health care? It's nothing more than increased gov. control that will make health care more expensive. If ur convinced of the fairy-tale that the gov. can provide for u, then I'm sure u r sending your entire income to them voluntarily, tho u sound to me like someone w/ no income.
I would like to discuss the issue and not sink to personal attacks. In this case I will reveal a bit of personal information in the hope that we can then stick to the issue. I know the system very intimately. I have been a physician for 26 years and speak from the perspective of an insider in the present health care system. I am finacially comfortable and have health insurance.
From your comments, it appears that this has become a matter of class warfare. That is a shame because the health and welfare of our brethren should be paramount.
I am sorry to hear that you think our military is such a poorly run and inept government entity. I can only assume that you feel this way because you have made blanket comments on the ineptitude of government run programs. Do you feel that way about police and fire departments also?
I am also a health care insider. The admin's proposed bill has nothing to do with providing better care, and it will be more expensive. I also have close friends who are veteran cops and one who is a retired fire chief, so yes those depts. are also politicized and inefficient. I am also a military vet, the military is ~20% effective due to political agendas of the DC elite.
If you think the current admin.'s plan is based on benevolency and providing quality care, again you are wrong. So I must ask again, if you're convinced the gov. can provide for you so well, why aren't you sending your entire income to them so it can be redistributed as they see fit?
What I am certain of is that the system the way it is presently structured is unsuited to provide good care for all at a reasonable price. There are too many middle men taking a piece of the pie in private health insurance. The relationship should be between the health care providers and and the consumers (patients). If there needs to be an insurer, I would prefer a non-profit one.
I too am a vet (VN era), and I can attest to the inefficiencies of the military, I but do not want mercenaries.
I do appreciate your POV, and I agree the present health care system needs reform. I am certain that more concentration of wealth and power at the federal level is not an appropriate solution.
As far as mercenaries, the current mix of contractors/military in both Iraq and Afghanistan is ~1:1. DC is using a shadow army to make up for their failure to properly support our military, again for political reasons.
Concentration of wealth and power with corporations is not an appropriate solution either. They have NO loyalty except to their bottom line and occasioanlly some shareholders. THAT does none pf us any good.
Agree with shadow army...why are we soending oodles of money on mercenaries who recruit their people from the ranks of our miltary (by paying them handsomely with dollars provided to them by taxpayers). They deplete or military and our treasury (while taking a nice cut for themselves).
The money spent on "contractors" would probably have been better spent directly on the military if we plan to be the world's policemen.
Or we should choose our wars more carefully and not be easily fooled into a war painted as a self defense measure when it was really about chasing oil reserves and defending our Saudi oil suppliers.
You mean the gov. might lie to us in order to get support for a war? : )
Funny you mention "the past admin.," I'm still waiting for the current admin. to uphold one - JUST ONE of the promises to undo the "mistakes" of the past. Seems to me the lies keep rolling out of DC.
Hard to believe, eh? I tend not to blame "the government", but rather try to identify the individuals, groups within the government and the powers outside of the government who are pulling the strings. The motivations for the action is what interests me.
The jury is still out on the Obama boys. Nine and one half months is too soon to tell. I did not blame GWB for 9/11, either.
I blame Clinton for 9/11, he had the opportunity to go after the terrorists after the first WTC attack but apparently a blow job was far more important.
It wasn't Clinton's fault either. It was the fault of those who perpetrated it. There were some worn spots in the fabric of our national defense and a brilliantly simple and clever plan, which was patiently developed over many years, was put into effect at the right time.
None of us are the bad guys. The hijackers and their backers were/are the bad guys.
Clinton tried, Bush tried...no luck. We need to stay united while Obama tries. I know which side I am on: OUR side, the American side.
You continue to ask a loaded question: Why am I not sending my entire income to the government so it can be redistributed as they see fit?
You have broadened the discussion to make it an ideological one. Well, I subscribe to no particular ideology, becuse none is adequate to deal with the diverse issues before us.
I an not a socialist, communist, capitalist, liberal, conservative or libertarian. I am an independent thinker...an eclectic.
True, that. Why is it so? Too much influence by some insurance companies in government?
Auto insurance companies can be tools as well, by the way. Without regulation they would pay out very little.
Would you recommend less government in policing, fire protection and national defense? Perhaps private policemen and firemen are a good idea. Would mercenaries be a better option than our own military/ How about Blackwater, err, Xe Services, LLC. They might be willing...they are pricy, however.
Seriously, averagejoe, health care is a critical service and I hesitate to allow the "free market" to completely dictate it's delivery. There must be some influence by govt to assure universal access.
What we have to devise is a method to keep costs reasonable. I have always gotten a better deal when I do no have to deal with a middle man. How about limiting insurance companies (private or govt) to providing only catastrophic coverage and having everyone establish health savings accounts?
I like my doctors. Most are working hard seeing lots of sick people, and they seem to be fighting insurance companies all the time. I would like to deal with them for routine visits without undue interference from either private or govt insurers. Without the add'l overhead, the docs can compete for my routine business with good service and reasonable fees.
If I get an exotic disease, get hit by a drunk driver, have a heart attack or get ravaged by age, catastrophic insurance takes over.
Please don't call Politico leftist media, the rest of your comments are totally stupid also, but this is probably the worst one. I did like your point on Grayson though, I got his e-mail about it "FOX tried to ambush me but I'm super important". One interview won't kill him, at least get them on the phone, he is right though, he doesn't work for Fox...Fox being a worthless opinion channel (which is no different than what MSNBC is half the time, but at least they only do it half the time).
You obviously know nothing about Rush except what your Dem slave masters tell you.
Rush started as a sports announcer and he still discusses football on his show. He is friends with many current and former players of all ethnicities who are frequent guests on his show. He was ASKED to co-own the Rams as they are in financial trouble and now St. Louis will probably lose their team due to uneducated bigots like YOU, aznkor101.
Re Grayson - how many times has Fox news done an ambush interview on someone from the GOP? Further, I wonder how many ambush interviews MSNBC or CNN has done on either party.
Interesting also that O'Reilly aired ambush interview footage from a Fox News reporter on Dr. Tiller. Dr. Tiller was murdered (in church, no less) earlier this year.
Was Dr. Tiller doing anything illegal? Nope. I guess the right thinks what the law says about issues they find important doesn't matter, though.
And on a final and more philosophical note - I feel completely trapped in today's America. Hate my job, but can't lose medical benefits... so I stay. Imagine the freedom of not having to worry about health insurance. Non "company backed" plans are absolute nightmares.
I could start a small business (which I want to do). Live the "american dream".
So, I find myself asking - which allows us to be more free? "Public Option" sure seems like it would be nice.
Thing is, a lot of people in this country like Snoop. He's also been on a ton of shows, and has proven that he is a pretty cool guy - he doesn't say anything inflammatory. He's just laid back and funny (and predictable on live TV). And doesn't care much about politics. People don't like politics in their sports.
Folks have given Limbaugh a chance before. He just can't control his mouth, though. He is unpredictable. And he can't help but making political statements.
Re Grayson and the K Street whore - his words were poorly chosen, but kind of spot on. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to call her that myself (because she kind of is one), but an elected official should be more careful. Grayson has apologized for his comments.
Personally, I found it more concerning that he was on the Alex Jones show. How could any self-respecting person go on Alex Jones?
Funny, though, how you get mad at Grayson, but then quickly call Snoop dog a "pimp". (but meant nigger).
Nice race-baiting there. But no, Snoop Dogg IS (or WAS... apparently) a pimp.
And what's wrong with 'nigga'? Snoopy says it in about 5-10 times a song like he's discrediting his own race! ...not to mention the lovely and totally NON-offensive references to women in his lyrics.
After all, every pimp needs a ho or two, am I right?
Snoop Dogg also produced a porno in the early 2000s. Apparently there is no place in the NFL for white conservatives. But there's open arms for a former Crip, pornographer, and admitted drug user who has made comments far more divisive than Rush Limbaugh.
Conservatives have no idea what they are getting themselves into.
They are essentially rendering themselves powerless.
I can't imagine any "conservative" elected official being able to ever get anything done when they are on the receiving end of the kind of propaganda campaign being unleashed by the current cons. "movement".
See, until now - the kind of nonsensical rhetoric seen spewing from cons. ever got much traction because it was so absurd.
I'm having a hard time deciding if Alan Grayson or Henry Waxman is the ugliest member of the House. They are probably equally hideous, the more I think about it.
Conservatives wanted it to get ugly. Grayson has no problem getting ugly. Remember - conservatives picked this fight. And it's awesome watching Grayson school y'all every chance he gets.
Grayson hasn't contributed a single thoughtful argument to the health care debate. His "die quickly" accusation was stupid and divisive, and since then he's done nothing but act like an asshole on national television. Write it down, Grayson is getting destroyed in 2010. And Obama, not the Republicans, picked this fight when he wanted to socialize 1/6 of our economy. If you think Pelosi's bill is only about health insurance, you're naive. 1,990 pages of taxes and government intervention.
hahahaha. So, the "death panels", "you lie!!", "Obama is a fascist dictator", "Obama wants to kill your babies", etc. is constructive in helping ensure all Americans can get non emergency room healthcare? I mean, they weren't divisive AT ALL!
Grayson was simply expressing a very narrow mind of the GOP's "philosophy". Just as the right refuses to have anything other than a very narrow mind about the left's (and even center's) "philosophy".
Also, it is possible to have a "socialist" healthcare system and be a "libertarian" country.
Canada has a socialist healthcare system, but yet is ranked the 2nd most libertarian country in the world.
I know many Canadians personally (good friends and colleague with one, actually), and they liked their healthcare a lot. We both have same insurance plan - he has not been happy with the medical system here, though. Was denied for a MRI, so flew home and got one. Turns out he needed surgery.
Awsome video! The Stimulus was a JOKE! Alan Grayson is a BUTTHOLE. Nancy Pelosi is a TOOL. Obamacare and "cash for clunkers" is a DISASTER. Obama wants us to "grab a mop" and I wanna use my mop to shove up his...Grayson
HTWWs who are you talking to? The disastrous trends are irreversible. The great gradual indoctrination that Marxists began in the 20s and the infiltration of education academia, the media, politics and civil services and their attack on American values and all that was a source of strength has finally brought them to power and the masses rejoiced.
The American people deserve what they get for grand buffoonish stupidity... Good luck for them with the great leader and the gang who want to "fundamentally change the US". People like Lee and tea party set are a minority and a shrinking one at that. More immigrants, illegal aliens, and the welfare ghetto baby machines, and worst of all, the colleges, where liberal white guilt manufacturers the most able destroyers, have hopelessly effed the US..
well nobody is saying that we didn't lose 4 million jobs the government was just saying that we could have lost 5 million if not for the stimulus bill, and i suspect that they have a way of measuring that, however biased and inaccurate their measurements are. Even if the stimulus bill did fail miserably you didn't give any argument or show any evidence saying that the jobs weren't saved, you just said they weren't. why should we believe you more than them?
eeddssxx...I think most of us are under the assumtion that everything the government, the Federal Reserve, or the media says is a lie. If you have paid attention over the last 2 years there would be no need for requesting evidence for what is common knowledge.
i personally need evidence to believe the argument either way. i never said i believed the government statistics, but i do need evidence. I need evidence because a lack of evidence just leads to more nonsense. A society based on assumptions instead of facts can't function properly.
although that still wasn't much evidence it's probably the tip of the iceberg. And of course even if they do review the evidence like they say they will people probably won't care enough to report it once its corrected
What did "we" do to lose the jobs, whatever the number? Evidence would suggest that oppressive government involvement in our lives is the root of the problem.
i wasn't saying anything except that i wanted to hear some evidence. Somebody else showed me that a little bit of evidence was provided in the sidebar. I never once mentioned who i thought the evidence would benefit i just wanted to see it. You can't call something else a lie without first proving that it isn't true. Therefore your statement is completely random. In fact you did exactly what angers me which is this "evidence would show we're right" attitude both parties have. prove it.
There is no thought to who is "right" in my comment. Why not look at the issues addressed and see the umbrella problem: Too much government intervention. If banks, automakers, companies are at risk, they make much better business decisions.
Sorry you're angered by different angle of thought. Let's regurgitate facts produced by people desiring to prove their value.
Grayson referred to Enron's head lobbyist, Linda Robertson, reborn as the Fed's head lobbyist as a K-street whore. When it was Enron, she helped them steal billions of dollars from taxpayers and rate-payers and now that it's the Fed, she is crawling around DC starting whispering campaigns about members of Congress who are demanding the audit that the Fed dreads more than anything.
Rush was talking about someone from the white house saying that the private sector wont start to create jobs until the middle of next year. Any GDP groth we have had has been from cash for clunkers and a piece of it was from the first time home buyers credit. Its all government growth. Not private industry. And watch how bad the last quarter car sales are goign to be. All people did was buy a car earlier than they planned on. Last quarter sales will tank.
I just googled the thing Gore Vidal said that is horrible and to make matters worst was Joy's response. "Well it's too late for that now, refering to him wanting to kill Bush. This from the same people that thought it was horrible that Rush said he hopes Obama's policies fail. It's one thing to not like someone's policies another to want someone dead. Yes, they are a peaceful group. Funny, I heard the "n" word only from liberals when refering to Obama. Example Rev. Jackson.
hey lee, do you think you can do a bill "length and content" comparison/analysis? might give us a little more insight.
lol and i don't think snoop is literally a pimp.... it's an urban term....
lastly just a suggestion, but might be better for everyone if we stayed away from the ad hominem wars from both ends. the comments posted end up being a flame war.
err just speculation but the health care bill is 2000 pages most likely because the way we practice law in this country is EXTREMELY mechanized and bureaucratic. that being said, it should be no surprise the bill of rights is nowhere near this long (often quoted by Lee), considering it was created during early establishment.
More juvenilia from the right. Blah blah blah k street whore blah blah blah no answers from the right blah blah blah we were in charge and look where it got us blah blah blah.
This guy should give his dad's camera back to his dad and take a class or two in politics and video production.
What are you talking about? The production of the video has nothing to do with anything, maybe you were too worried about the looks and not the content so you decided to finger yourself. (BTW It's an i Mac camera so nice touch with the dads camera thing)
Lee... I have found that the majority of Americans are economically illiterate. They don't have the slightest clue about the harms that come about when Government resorts to over spending. They just like to make excuses & hope for a "free" hand-out. Always forgetting where the money comes from. After the healthcare plan blows up in their collective faces, they'll just blame Bush. Or Rush (I'm not a fan). Or the Boogey-Man. Everybody but themselves. So much for lowering the cost of healthcare.
While Congressman Grayson is an extreme leftist (a "radical extremist" if you will), he is a strong supporter of auditing the FED, which is long over due.
no facts , all opion.

Obama and the democrats are just more of the status quo. It may not be likely, but it certainly would be better if we got a libertarian president next time around. Anyways, do you have any real argument against libertarianism?
Houshalter 1 year ago
@Houshalter it's bullshit that is obsolete.
exbronco1980 1 year ago
@exbronco1980, how can it be obsolete if it's never been implemented? You don't seriously believe communism or socialism is better?
Libertarianism, lack of government, is a default position. The burden of proof is on you to prove your position is better. We're all waiting.

yes, all media- tv, websites, books, magazines and newspapers are owned by the state and hence leftwing. all media, that is, except fox news and the wall street journal and you. that's why no newspapers in 2000 and 04 endorsed george w. bush. that's why right wingers never come out with books. u sure like denying reality.

Furthermore, by taking that financial burden of paying for people with expensive health needs away from business, you are keeping more jobs inside of our borders and preventing them from leaving our borders for cheaper countries.
But it just behoves me people aren't willing to make this sacrifice, what do you have to loose? To me, not risking personal bankruptcy from healthcare costs helps to ensure financial security for every healthy and sick American.
soulchild2008 2 years ago
Besides, I can understand why nobody seems to be for single-payer. Healthcare costs money and the money has to come from somewhere. Either you are going to risk paying a for-profit HMO with the chance of going bankrupt when they decide to drop you, OR you allow a non-profit institution to NOT deny or drop your coverage. PLUS, you can go from job to job and not worry about your health benefits going anywhere. You will have the same coverage as our folks in the military get from the VA.
soulchild2008 2 years ago
1990 pages...what you should be asking is why isn't the media doing a better job of reporting what is in the bill on TV? Grant it, some websites in the past did post PDF copies of the regular Senate bill and the GOP's bill on their website (CNN was one). Most people in America have access to the Internet via their home, school, library, place of work, etc. If you didn't have the intuition to download it and read it for yourself, shame on you for not keeping yourself properly informed.

Countries (like mine) with nationalized health care do have lower expenses but that's because they don't treat people but make them die while waiting for treatment.
It's easy to have low health care expenses when you don't treat people.

Hospice care also helped to save enormous resources that was used to help others.
amsquare 2 years ago

Hmm...
amsquare 2 years ago
@amsquare,
The numbers would be even more horrible than medicare.
Mismanagement and corruption are what have made Medicare costs soar.
In government run systems mismanagement and corruption are a given. NO?
You posit a system "free from arbitrary political machinations".
There ain't no such animal.
averagejoe040 2 years ago
Actually, averagejoe, Medicare runs pretty well and has a low operating expense when compared with private insurers (Medicare does not have to show a profit, pay enormous bonuses to executives or answer to shareholders). "Waste , fraud and abuse" is a catch phrase used to explain away costs that may or may not be due to mismanagement. I does not really apply to Medicare. Cost comes from the population they care for...the elderly: those not covered, for the most part, by private insurance.
amsquare 2 years ago
If we spread the cost of Medicare to the entire population, making coverage mandatory to everyone and shifting a good portion of the dollars now going into profit-oriented private insurance companies into the Medicare coffers and couple that with emphasis on preventative care, better dies, exercise and rational, comforting end of life care, we can probably pull it off without much stress.
But that is in the best of all possible worlds, eh Voltaire?

I would like to discuss the issue and not sink to personal attacks. In this case I will reveal a bit of personal information in the hope that we can then stick to the issue. I know the system very intimately. I have been a physician for 26 years and speak from the perspective of an insider in the present health care system. I am finacially comfortable and have health insurance.
amsquare 2 years ago
From your comments, it appears that this has become a matter of class warfare. That is a shame because the health and welfare of our brethren should be paramount.
I am sorry to hear that you think our military is such a poorly run and inept government entity. I can only assume that you feel this way because you have made blanket comments on the ineptitude of government run programs. Do you feel that way about police and fire departments also?
amsquare 2 years ago
I am also a health care insider. The admin's proposed bill has nothing to do with providing better care, and it will be more expensive. I also have close friends who are veteran cops and one who is a retired fire chief, so yes those depts. are also politicized and inefficient. I am also a military vet, the military is ~20% effective due to political agendas of the DC elite.
jsnappa 2 years ago
If you think the current admin.'s plan is based on benevolency and providing quality care, again you are wrong. So I must ask again, if you're convinced the gov. can provide for you so well, why aren't you sending your entire income to them so it can be redistributed as they see fit?
jsnappa 2 years ago
What I am certain of is that the system the way it is presently structured is unsuited to provide good care for all at a reasonable price. There are too many middle men taking a piece of the pie in private health insurance. The relationship should be between the health care providers and and the consumers (patients). If there needs to be an insurer, I would prefer a non-profit one.
I too am a vet (VN era), and I can attest to the inefficiencies of the military, I but do not want mercenaries.
amsquare 2 years ago
I do appreciate your POV, and I agree the present health care system needs reform. I am certain that more concentration of wealth and power at the federal level is not an appropriate solution.
As far as mercenaries, the current mix of contractors/military in both Iraq and Afghanistan is ~1:1. DC is using a shadow army to make up for their failure to properly support our military, again for political reasons.
jsnappa 2 years ago
Concentration of wealth and power with corporations is not an appropriate solution either. They have NO loyalty except to their bottom line and occasioanlly some shareholders. THAT does none pf us any good.
Agree with shadow army...why are we soending oodles of money on mercenaries who recruit their people from the ranks of our miltary (by paying them handsomely with dollars provided to them by taxpayers). They deplete or military and our treasury (while taking a nice cut for themselves).
amsquare 2 years ago
The money spent on "contractors" would probably have been better spent directly on the military if we plan to be the world's policemen.
Or we should choose our wars more carefully and not be easily fooled into a war painted as a self defense measure when it was really about chasing oil reserves and defending our Saudi oil suppliers.
amsquare 2 years ago
You mean the gov. might lie to us in order to get support for a war? : )
Funny you mention "the past admin.," I'm still waiting for the current admin. to uphold one - JUST ONE of the promises to undo the "mistakes" of the past. Seems to me the lies keep rolling out of DC.
jsnappa 2 years ago
Hard to believe, eh? I tend not to blame "the government", but rather try to identify the individuals, groups within the government and the powers outside of the government who are pulling the strings. The motivations for the action is what interests me.
The jury is still out on the Obama boys. Nine and one half months is too soon to tell. I did not blame GWB for 9/11, either.

amsquare 2 years ago
I blame Clinton for 9/11, he had the opportunity to go after the terrorists after the first WTC attack but apparently a blow job was far more important.
Pvic 2 years ago
It wasn't Clinton's fault either. It was the fault of those who perpetrated it. There were some worn spots in the fabric of our national defense and a brilliantly simple and clever plan, which was patiently developed over many years, was put into effect at the right time.
None of us are the bad guys. The hijackers and their backers were/are the bad guys.

I am an independent thinker...an eclectic.
amsquare 2 years ago
In fact, if we could get LESS government involvment in health insurance it would be beneficial.
Government mandates severely limit competition in health insurance.
Purchasers have very limited options.
A virtual monopoly exists in many locales in America.
If mandates could be lifted then you would have hundreds of choices in health insurance. This drives price down, no?
You have hundreds of choices in Auto insurance, why not in health?
averagejoe040 2 years ago
They might be willing...they are pricy, however.
amsquare 2 years ago
Seriously, averagejoe, health care is a critical service and I hesitate to allow the "free market" to completely dictate it's delivery. There must be some influence by govt to assure universal access.
What we have to devise is a method to keep costs reasonable. I have always gotten a better deal when I do no have to deal with a middle man. How about limiting insurance companies (private or govt) to providing only catastrophic coverage and having everyone establish health savings accounts?
amsquare 2 years ago
I like my doctors. Most are working hard seeing lots of sick people, and they seem to be fighting insurance companies all the time. I would like to deal with them for routine visits without undue interference from either private or govt insurers. Without the add'l overhead, the docs can compete for my routine business with good service and reasonable fees.
If I get an exotic disease, get hit by a drunk driver, have a heart attack or get ravaged by age, catastrophic insurance takes over.

See, until now - the kind of nonsensical rhetoric seen spewing from cons. ever got much traction because it was so absurd.
Seems absurdity no longer matters. :)

I'm having a hard time deciding if Alan Grayson or Henry Waxman is the ugliest member of the House. They are probably equally hideous, the more I think about it.
wilco618 2 years ago
Lincoln was ugly. I am more interested in who is the dumbest, or who is the most callous, or who is the biggest corporate whore.
amsquare 2 years ago

1,990 pages of taxes and government intervention.
wilco618 2 years ago

JimboVids 2 years ago 2
Even if the stimulus did save 1,000,000 jobs, at a price tag of 787 billion, that's $787,000 per job.
theneedledictator 2 years ago 2

The LOBBYIST for the FEDERAL RESERVE.
Put those two things together.
She's a fucking nasty, disgusting, wench whore slut bitch.
elitebanktyranny 2 years ago
well nobody is saying that we didn't lose 4 million jobs the government was just saying that we could have lost 5 million if not for the stimulus bill, and i suspect that they have a way of measuring that, however biased and inaccurate their measurements are. Even if the stimulus bill did fail miserably you didn't give any argument or show any evidence saying that the jobs weren't saved, you just said they weren't. why should we believe you more than them?
eeddssxx 2 years ago
eeddssxx...I think most of us are under the assumtion that everything the government, the Federal Reserve, or the media says is a lie. If you have paid attention over the last 2 years there would be no need for requesting evidence for what is common knowledge.
thekraken23 2 years ago
i personally need evidence to believe the argument either way. i never said i believed the government statistics, but i do need evidence. I need evidence because a lack of evidence just leads to more nonsense. A society based on assumptions instead of facts can't function properly.

although that still wasn't much evidence it's probably the tip of the iceberg. And of course even if they do review the evidence like they say they will people probably won't care enough to report it once its corrected
eeddssxx 2 years ago
eeddssxx,
What did "we" do to lose the jobs, whatever the number? Evidence would suggest that oppressive government involvement in our lives is the root of the problem.
ACourtRep 2 years ago
i wasn't saying anything except that i wanted to hear some evidence. Somebody else showed me that a little bit of evidence was provided in the sidebar. I never once mentioned who i thought the evidence would benefit i just wanted to see it. You can't call something else a lie without first proving that it isn't true. Therefore your statement is completely random. In fact you did exactly what angers me which is this "evidence would show we're right" attitude both parties have. prove it.
eeddssxx 2 years ago
eeddssxx,
There is no thought to who is "right" in my comment.

Yeah but it seems that logic doesnt fit into lees diatribe, shame he had potential but he seems to be just another part of the propaganda game..

Jackson.

hey lee, do you think you can do a bill "length and content" comparison/analysis? might give us a little more insight.
lol and i don't think snoop is literally a pimp.... it's an urban term....
lastly just a suggestion, but might be better for everyone if we stayed away from the ad hominem wars from both ends. the comments posted end up being a flame war.
xblindx 2 years ago
err just speculation but the health care bill is 2000 pages most likely because the way we practice law in this country is EXTREMELY mechanized and bureaucratic. that being said, it should be no surprise the bill of rights is nowhere near this long (often quoted by Lee), considering it was created during early establishment.

More juvenilia from the right. Blah blah blah k street whore blah blah blah no answers from the right blah blah blah we were in charge and look where it got us blah blah blah.
