  • I was born in 2001. Gimme that iPod!!!

  • OMG they had a game back then on an iPod??!!!

  • ITS ALMOST 11 YEARS OLD!!! OMG!!

  • You're gonna need some baggy pants to fit that in your pocket... :P

  • What a fucking brick!

  • HOLY CRAP IT'S SO BIG LOL

  • Why do all gadgets gimme better sounds? I mean CD walkman sounds way better than iPod. It's almost a decade old

  • where did you get the charger

  • hey ashens

  • i bought 6 of these at a bazzar for $60, i find it funner to use than the new ones

  • ipod 80 gb...best ever ftw!

  • wow...apple came a long way. The macintosh during teh 1980s, ipod during 2001 and now we got ipad 2 and iphone. What's next?? A gaming console by 2017???Hmmmm........

  • @SuperMe4lyfe Apple actualy did release a game system.

  • @samieskittle123 I dont mean the pippin. I mean something that actually gets successful. And I also dont mean the ipad or ipod touch game apps.

  • the big one is comfortable for me to hold it

  • i like original ipod better because it's bigger! the new one is super small!!!

  • I want that iPod:)

  • Wow!! Now in year 2010 there smaller and touchscreens yay!! Technology it's becoming easier and easier!! I love apple product there the best!!!

  • does anyone know if the first gen works with windows?

  • @huamanJR it does not you need a mac WITH FIREWIRE it is very picky

  • @bart2daman that suck wished they would make a anniversary collectors edition then lol.

  • i have an iPod Touch 4th Generation . wow , that iPod is ancient . (:

  • oh my god I can't believe how old it looks. lmfao. and it's only been 10 years.

  • You could stick a new os on that like rock box on basically use it for almost anything

  • Old gadget looks good when used or taken care of by someone who knows what looks hip to use.I personally think it still looks pretty cool after 10 years of its release.I've dusted off both of my 1st gen 5 GB and 2nd gen 10GB and started using them again as well. The sound quality of those are supposed to be better than most of the other ipod models.

  • I have this too, 5 gig version. It's ubercool

  • that thing is a freaking DINOSAUR!

  • you sound like ashens

  • @travisray96 £399 on launch here

  • you do that thing that chris tarrant does on who wants to be a millionaire after he says something, its like a sucking in saliva sound..

  • @TheRoyalCommand I have bad asthma, so not always easy to breathe (video creator on my new account)

  • ESE FUE MI PRIMER IPOD

  • I bought one of these early iPods too & still have it & still use it. One other thing. When you bought the iPod back then it actually came with its own case, along with the firewire cable and the adapter/recharger. This all came in a big, square box. I still have all the original stuff except the cable & the earphones, which broke. The case was pretty substantial, not a cheap thing, but it was pretty useless because you had to pull the ipod all the way out of it to get to the selection wheel.

  • ipod touch will never be garbage

  • The iPod has come a long way....

  • i still use mine

  • Hi!! i bought one like this yesterday, but my mac don't recognize it, it only charges, what can i do?? thanks!

  • @xmdude626 actually a brick is about 25-30% times bigger

  • I still have mine. But it's second gen. And 10 GB.

  • Nobody said oypod, get your ears syringed

  • @haloplaya382429 It's called an accent. Why not accept people who are different than you?

  • I wonder future iPods have for us. Apple seems to be liking their new touch interface and software(slide to unlock, home screen) we will have to wait

  • Your 1st gen iPodd can't be connected to Windows machine.

  • fuck. 8 years old and it looks like shit

  • Anyone got a link to where i can buy 1 have been looking all over the internet and cant find it , preferably on ebay or amazon ect

  • iPod. The true legend of all Mp3 players!

  • It's so big!

  • wow thTats old

  • Woooow, looks like the first iPod had an universal FireWire connector! Better than the iPods these days.

  • the thing is fucking thick

  • I have a 120gb iPod Classic that I purchased new at Best Buy in March 2009, absolutely love it, can hold all 86 episodes of the Sopranos!

  • yea he does sound like ashens

  • who the f@@@ is ashens?

  • who the f@@@ are you to not know who ashens is?!?!?!?

  • he sounds like ashens xD

  • That sucks that its broken. I wonder if in fifty years one of these would become worth some money being an original and an antique and all. Does anyone think these might become rare and worth some money in 50 years?

  • ha ha! i got an iPod 2G, 40GB (photos n music only) and its quite a fatty.. i paid 30$ for it, so 40GB of music worths it.. i love my iPod than a 160Gb one :P

  • in a few years, the ipod touch is gonna be garbage compared to whatever new comes out

  • @brizzlefizzle Hahahahaahaahahahhhahahaha iPod was the FIRST mp3 player that was A HIT iPod made it a hit! It invented itself. By that i mean it isnt a MP3 player it is a iPod

  • @brizzlefizzle nahhh ur dumb

  • @brizzlefizzle nahhh ur dumb well maby ur right lol i cant belive 80 gig

  • @345mik how am i dumb when i have the second highest rated comment?

  • @brizzlefizzle ipod touch is already garbage! iphone is way better

  • This ipod side looks like the box of the ipod touch but maybe alittle bigger

  • the new one look better than the old one

i have a ipod but i dont even knw what generation it is

  • Wow 8 years, you've got an iPod/iPhone with more memory, a bigger screen, a phone jammed in it, longer-lasting battery, integrated speakers, a touchscreen, and wi-fi capability all in a device half the thickness. Amazing how technology advances

  • That's not a big advancement at all considering the technology had been out in japan for years.

Right now, Apple has 160GB iPhones sitting on the back shelf, but they want to feed you a little at a time to ensure consistent sales. People have been talking about them since 2007. My, does time go by slowly.

  • @blueblob4 well that could have been done back the just far more expensive

  • @blueblob4

    Sarcazm anyone???

  • @blueblob4 not advances... shrinks

  • thats was a major upgrade in 2001

  • Just to let you know, the reason it isn't 5 full GB is because of the numbers not OS. The original makers of computer software set up for there to be something like 1064 MegaBytes per Gigabyte. Apple lists their devices as 1000 MB PER GB so they don't have to pay for as much space.

  • 1024 =P

  • I guess that explains why the120gb Classic is only 113.11gb :P

    Cheapskates.

  • It would be cool if I had one...

  • iPod rocks!

  • this was high tech shit at the time. was thinner then any other true mp3 player.

to bad i still had a 95 windows pc at the time and couldnt afford the 500 dollars for it but, i have a iphone 3gs now :) BAM

  • And this thing was still thinner than most mp3 playersback then

  • how heavy is it?

  • Apple could sell it in the original and one made of acrylic for collectors. I would buy.

  • me too, that thing is History

  • wow this thing is huge @@

  • Chapers is that you ? O_o

  • it looks kind of funny now, but when you think about the alternative in 2001 - those big CD cases everyone used to have, and the plastic walkman CD player that broke 3 months- this is actually pretty sleek. It just looks huge compared to the newer ipods

  • can you use that 1 with windows? I heard theres a way around it for it to work

  • I didn't know it was that thick.

Still the ipod was smaller than other mp3 players at the time, it had a 1.8 hdd while the others had 2.5" hdds.

  • ITS A FUCKIN BRICK LOL!

  • the dinosaur ipod

  • *bows down*

  • but i still tink that ipod mini is cooler

  • cool..

  • OMG.

ITS THE FATHER OF ALL IPODS!!!

    *bows down and worships*

  • Comment removed

  • That's the best kind.

  • this iPod is very fat!!

  • I DID,NT NOW THEY WERE OUT IN 2001!

  • im gettin it tmoz cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That things a brick!!

  • hey ill buy it

  • i have a first generation ipod and of course it doesnt work with any of my apples. how do i replace the software? if you know or have any kind of idea than feel free to holla at me

  • i got that and the 3G

  • That Iphone has alot of scratches. =P

  • Old things last more than new technology, EXAMPLE:

Gameboy (still works) PSP (It turns off by itself)

Super Nintendo (I have dropped that thing 1,000 times and still works) X-BOX 360 (Ring of death in 1 year...2 times)

P.S. These are my things I don't know about other people

  • yeah

for example: original game boy dropped countless times still works

psp: first drop and already dead

ipod mini: dropped it many times, still alive

    ipod nano: dropped it, broke......

windows 98: works like a charm with no antivirus

windows vista: shall i need to go in details......

  • I love how during the video the battery would be draining by a bar each minute

  • mine's still working great after more than 5 years. 1st gen rules!

  • would you sell it to me...

  • no way holmes! :p

  • trade you for a ipod touch 32gb

  • Don't think so mate. Anyone has an idea about how much it is worth right now? Cause I still use mine almost daily and I drop it like once a week :p That thing is ubreakable...

  • just like the ipod mini, its a fucking tank

i also have one, some ipod collectors want to trade it.

my answer is always no, i know this is going to be a jewel in the near future and worth saving a piece of history

  • if it wasnt for this "ugly" device

you wouldnt have your fancy nano or touch

    respect the original one

  • thnat pod is fat :/

  • yeah, Steve jobs was chubbier when he introduced it, but now he is getting thinner and thinner, just like the ipods!

  • LOL good analogy

    that made laugh

  • he has cacner x(

  • i have this in 20 gb but mine broke when i turned it on it has a picture of a sad face with x's for eyes and it says something about a file lol

  • Wooo, that things a beast!

  • and i thought the iphone was thick....

  • If you keep that for about twenty more years it will be worth SO much money

  • no it wont...ever

  • mark my words

  • A true relic

  • wow welcome to the good ol days, mine still works great!

  • If it works, it's like a piece of history and belongs in a museum.

  • iPods have come a very long way.

That 1st gen one is sooo thick!

  • wow...That is one ugly mu fuka.

    haha

    i have a cooler one!

    i have a nanoo

and it is not the latest one. but it is reallyyyy good.

  • Wow! Thick as a brick!

  • My first iPod was my 1g iPod Touch...and I'm downloading the newest version of iTunes, so I can install the 2.2.1 firmware I downloaded free C=

  • 1g ipod touch?

  • I meant 1st gen...

  • I bet apple already had the ipod touch back then they just release them later to get more money

    Smart

  • i doubt it because some of taht stuff is brand new technology.

  • they came a long way

  • lol damn u can kill someone with that

  • "Hey, catch!"

    "Ow!!!"

  • Very good video.

    5 stars.

  • i want one

  • the well helped witht the game
