Which is why the 335 diesel has only 20 bhp less than a 335 petrol then, because diesels aren't that good in the bhp per litre secnario. The 335i has a specific output of 102 bhp/litre, the 335d has 95 bhp per litre, a mere 7% less of a power to engine size ratio.
And the 123d has exactly the same power to engine size ratio as the 335i, with 204 bhp from its 2 litres, it too like the 135i/335i has 102 bhp per litre(and the 123d has 2 less cylinder and 8 less valves to boot).
Why so prejudiced about diesels? Modern diesels have filters which make them much cleaner then petrol engines, so you're very wrong saying that this is 'a smoking diesel'. Btw, the diesel is much more fuel efficient than an equivalent petrol car. Put a 335d against a 335i in a race from London to the south of France and the 335d will most definately win.
With all the filters it's very wrong to call a 335d 'a smoking diesel'. Another thing, put a 335d against a 335i in a race from London to the south of France, and the diesel will win due to it's fuel efficient engine.
Every other car becomes pointless.I drove a 911 for a day last year and, believe me,I have no interest in wasting money on any other car that "tries" to be quick.
Indeed the 911 is one of the most honest sports cars, making the most of it's usually underpowered engines [relatively to the direct competition ofc... the engines themselves are just fine!]. Anyone with substantial automotive knowledge acknowledges the qualities of a 911...
But you can't fault a car with 280bhp/600NM doing 42mpg :D
It's fast for people like you,who only cares about saving money on fuel.
So you buy a 50000€ car and than you care about fuel economy???Work harder, buy a house, than buy a 50000€ car and don't be ridiculous thinking about fuel.
And to think the Americans still think diesel is only good for trucks and buses. Of course in Europe we all know that diesels are much faster than petrols unless you are on a test track. Its a pity that here in Ireland we have the gayest taxation system ever, its all to do with engine sizes, imagine Ireland is the only country IN THE WORLD that you can buy an E90 316i. For fuck sake. And PS, the E90 316i is slower than walking, as it uses the 1.6 litre engine found in the E87 1 series.

I will buy small cars just to go from A to B.Having enough money I would only buy a very very fast car,not a smoking diesel.
PS:no turbo diesel has the power to cubic capacity ratio of a turbo petrol engine!

Even with filters, which eliminate PM10 particulate, diesels also produce PM5,which causes CANCER.
Petrol engines DON'T pruduce particulate at all.

Petrol cars produce lots of PM5

emadelta86, go fuck yourself.
The 335d doesn't try to be quick, it IS quick.
For a diesel, this is a very fast car.

Why the negativity towards Americans? Plenty of us like efficient cars. Don't be a dick for no reason.
