This song was written by one of Nashville's most successful songwriters Rivers Rutherford. He was twenty-one years old when he wrote it. A rare solo composition for him.

I originally heard part of this song on the radio (The Alex Jones Show) when they were coming back from commercials. It was the verse with Willie singing, "I am a midwest farmer...". Just hearing that verse was so powerful I knew I had to hear the whole song so I just googled the lyrics and found it eventually, man this is a good song.
