  • O_O I've just been looking at stuff about the Barneveld, WI tornado...

  • Does anyone know if theres a vid of the Tornados in Barrie and Vaungh ??? like from a Tornado chaser view ??

  • Does anyone know where I can find video from the 1985 Albion/Cranesville,pa tornado outbreak?

  • @Sparrowsong83

    Try searching for

    Hermitage Pa tornado

and look for videos uploaded by cbehr91 and anticyclonic.

  • @Sparrowsong83

User "erievintagevideo" has some local (Erie) news reports from 1985 covering these

  • Just think, Reed Timmer was just a little tyke when this was made!

  • I remember that tornado. I was five that year. My parents and I lived just outside of Neenah, WIsconsin. That afternoon, it was so muggy and humid and the sky began to get really black, then it began to downpour and hail and we could see the funnel cloud forming. The tornado went right past our house and took out some trees and a fence. Our neighbor just down on County J got the worst of it. She was killed by the flying debris. Every time it storms, I still think of that day.

  • @MsAshley28 wow. its always amazing meeting a tornado survivor. i actually meet some1 on youtube who lived through the saragosa tornado

  • Recorded 1992-1993 sometime

  • I love these older 1980s tornado videos. I don't know why, but they are just far more entertaining to me than today's videos.

  • I love the WBGH logo.

  • Anyone know where to find the 1996 movie "Tornado!" with Bruce Campbell and George C. Scott? It's a rare flick.

  • @TheSonomaDude

    Netflix has it.

  • @TheSonomaDude hey, they have it on itunes. i just bought it from there

  • @AJTwister97 Hey thanks bro! Havent seen it in years!

  • @TheSonomaDude and ernie hudson racist bastard

  • Wow... I still have this on VHS... along with Twisters! Nature's Fury (speaking of which, did anyone upload Twisters Nature's Fury yet?)

I always found the footage of the May 17, 1981 tornado interesting. I don't know why...

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

  • Oh Well, and i thought the whole time that my state taxes went toward funding Public Television,i get sooooooooo tired of the Public Broadcasting Network begging for money each and every year,umm-huh its Nova anyways, never liked that show, guess i'll be moving along now.byeeeeeeeee.

  • Who is it?

  • Hopefully Pittsburgh can have some sunshine tomorrow, 5-16-09 so that storms may develop but not hurting anyone.

we wern't talking about the video lol

  • My Hometown of Brownsville, Tennessee Population, 10.500 was hit by an F-2 Tornado on April 2nd, 2006 the tornado hit the west side of my hometown no people killed 24 houses destroyed $400,000 thanks to advance warning, warning sirens and a local weather wire to receive the warnings due to the loss of life.

  • my bro was like 7 when this hit his hometown.

  • the guy in the yellow plaid pants at 3:13 has a big butt lol. This is a great video, i love watching these things. The 1967 one is humorous.

  • Interesting to see a science program starting off with the religious stuff. Lots of stock 16mm footage in this one. Love the hippie storm chasers "is that smoke or is that debris?" little inside joke there. 78' Topeka storm too! It does good to bring the point home, and offer some hope. New Wavers and Doppler Radar, oh my! The pseudo-Carl Sagan narration helps rather than hinders too. Very excellent blast from the past. Thanks for posting.

  • I still have this on VHS Tape :P~~

  • This was 10 years before I was born how sad poor people who lost their lives! ^_^ If another tornado happens again I will save the people!

  • It says 1985, but to me, it looks like everyone's still stuck in the 70s.

  • the 1980's good times good times. but man i saw that video in my 8th grade science class

  • Does anyone else realize that, starting at around the 3:40 mark, these clips were almost exactly recreated for the movie "Twister?" I'm sure that this video aided the CGI techs that worked on the movie in creating several of the tornadoes. I just found this interesting. Great documentary! I remember watching this when I was a kid (and being scared of it!.

  • Holy shit! I was in the barneveld tornado. That was the scariest thing in my life and FYI it was 1984. The only warning we got was a crack of thunder around 1 in the morning. Next thing we know the town is gone but the water tower and the church steeple! Rated f-5

  • that time-lapse of that supercell between 9:26-9:39 was filmed near Mt.Rushmore, South Dakota in 1966.

  • my library still has a copy of this documentary on VHS and it is still in good condition!

  • always watch for rotation at cloud base level, sometimes it will be a lowered cloud base thats rotating (called a wall cloud).

  • 9:46-9:50 I think thats footage of the el rino tornado on april 30, 1978

  • I'll go ahead and label it as that. Thanks.

  • 0:43 i think it is the 1978 tornado in topeka, kansas, i think

  • 0:48-0:49 is acutually a look-alike. It was just smoke from a fire started by lightning that the chasers mistakenly thought that was a tornado. >_>

  • I concure that the apparent tornado is just smoke. The thing for everyone to remember when you think you see a tornado. Watch it for a few seconds for rotation. If there is no rotation, then it's not a tornado.

  • ...Whos says I concure?

  • This almost looks like the same event that Jim leonard was on near Gutabo on a chase, Him and his chase partner saw it and thought it was a tornado. Upon closer inspection it was smoke. The key is to watch for rotation at cloud base and in the actual suspected tornado, and lastly but not least, there has to be a debrie whirl on the ground for it to be a tornado. For those who didn't already know.

  • That could be it, I believe that happened in June of 1985 so the timing would be right.

  • It probably was, considering the fact that both occurred in 1985.

  • It was smoke. That's kind of funny because his chase partner said 'is that a derbies cloud or is that smoke!'. That video is on Tornado Video Classics II but it's hard to see because the credits were rolling in front of it. I also saw it on Twister Fury on the Planes on TLC.

  • that's a good video... i have fury on the planes on vhs i bought... can't find the 2nd one to it anymore =(

  • I love Tornado videos. I am pretty sure that I want to be a storm chaser after I get through college.

  • thank you for posting these videos!...i always enjoy watching tornado documentaries

  • You're welcome!
