I met the Crickets a few years ago, one of the original members, who had some great memories of Buddy. Such a tragedy. Valens and the Big Bopper too. Such magical guitar work, I love that 50s sound, very Fenderesque!
This is a tribute band called "Buddy Holly Live!" - the players were ages 45-48 - they toured for 5 years from 1999-2004. This was a reunion gig in 2005.
Got it. thanks. If anyone had the chance to see Pacific Repertory's version of "Buddy!" in Carmel, San Jose or San Francisco CA, with Travis Poelle as Buddy..... excellent. just excellent. Saw it 4 times and would go again tomorrow if they decided to do the show again.
Thanks for the info. I saw an amazing documentary on Les Paul the other day - He still plays a weekly gig at 90 in NYC - He is an innovator and the inventor of most modern sound techniques.
The Video takes a long time to buff... I watched like 3 music videos before I could play this one.

I have posted a video response of a version we did in 2009 - A version which I believe has worked out the kinks in the 2005 performance.

That ain't buddy. The Crickets are balding and in their 50's and "Buddy" is still 22. Not even a good reproduction.

Les Paul used overdubbing first....Buddy did not think of it
However, he did use it very well on several of his recordings.
