  • Its unfortunate that a Church was vandalized and I don't condone it but please spare me the sympathy and tears.....the next time a Gay person gets attacked lets hear the Catholic Bishops speak out against it and "good Catholics" make a statement against it. Some of us have had enough! FUCK the ROMAN Catholic Church!

  • @NativeNewYorkGuy Agree with you - except for the swearing that is.

  • @nicksum29 Now what fucking swearing ?

  • @NativeNewYorkGuy With your swearing, I can only say that you're pathetic.

  • Gays are humans like us. A true Christian must always love, never making any aggressive behavior against anyone, even if that person's beliefs contradict one's own.

  • Above all things Jesus taught love and understanding. the bible was written 60 years after the death of Jesus and i that time abomination didn't mean the same thing, it meant dishonorable not worthy of death. it also says eating pork and women not covering there hair in church was an abomination. i bet many of you bashers eat pork and the your mothers never cover their hair for church.

  • That sounds like the "Edmonds Fitzgerald Song".

  • sdf

  • Your not Catholic if u have same sex intercourse. This is against the Catholic religion. Repent and be forgiven for your sins. And stop this sick practice. If a man or a women participate in same sex intercourse, they are worthy of death.

  • @Martinbegu21

Do you know what the real problem is... People are dying from starvation, people are dying because of war, people are dying from terrorism and what are people like you more interested in???

    SEXUALITY... Shameful..

I wonder if a gay man that lived a good sinless life and people like you full of hate was stood by Jesus, i wonder which would be following the commandments of Our Lord.

  • @Martinbegu21 why do you say this? what gives you the right? Above all things Jesus taught love and understanding. the bible was written 60 years after the death of Jesus and i that time abomination didn't mean the same thing, it meant dishonorable not worthy of death. it also says eating pork and women not covering there hair in church was an abomination. i bet you eat pork and the your mother never covers her hair for church.

  • @AnthosArtifex I dont want to understand why you act like a girl and why u paint your nails and why u wear your hair like a queer. Its sick. You were born a man now act like one. Your part of a group now! YAAAYYY lets all have weird hair and paint are nails and talk like women from the oprah winfrey show! hahaha You probably have ace of base and there remixes and u probably got a dj tiesto cd. (like every other fag). You take c*ck up ur a** and like it. Thats sick. you prolly like ATM as well.

  • @Martinbegu21 im not asking you to understand anything. just showing you to love all of Gods people. it your problem if you don't understand.

  • I stand by my belief that REAL Christians do not like gay people. I will also say that for you to call yourself a member of the embodiment of gay people persecution inside the USA and throughout the world is not amusing in any way whatsover!

By the way, how is your research regarding the Vatican's position on homosexuality? Ohhh and yes, as a Catholic, you should care about what the Vatican says and conduct yourself accordingly.

  • @j4unumber1

You would be surprised just how much gays are welcomed by Christian communities.. Its just people like you that hates gays and because you hate gays you think other people have the same thoughts as you.. WRONG!

  • @TheCatholicnproud Christians can except you as much as they want. Im Catholic, and real Catholics are against gays.

  • @Martinbegu21 "real" catholics follow the laws set by the church, Homosexuals "must be welcomed with respect and sensitivity, and 'every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided,'' quoting the catechism

  • I do not condone hate even if it is wrapped in a Rainbow Flag.

Nor do I condone the destruction of private property in of anger.

This parish has welcomed GLBT people to its body of worship. I think that is something all of us should be able to celebrate.

The Rainbow Sash Movement has taken a strong position on this matter, and we will continue to challenge anger and hate inside or outside the Church.

  • Thanks for posting this video. The cowards who did the vandalism and then ran, should have done their research. MHR is a part of the Gay community. We do not exist in the Castro to "cure" or "convert" gays into living STR8 lives. We members of MHR, gay, bi, transgendered, STR8, old and young, belong to the parish to serve the community, and act as an example to other Catholic parishes that they can and should accept gay people as just another example of human variety. All are welcome here!

  • Maybe REAL Christians will think twice before saying hateful diatribes toward gay people and any disownment by their Christian families. For the first time in my life, I feel vindicated as a person for what these brave courageous gay people are doing to Christians and their respective buildings of worship throughout the USA.

I dedicate these posts to all those who died due to harrassment by Christians and the rejection by their familes for being who they are through no fault of their own.

  • J4unumber1, perhaps you should have done some research before you decided to post. MHR exists in the heart of the Castro. It is probably the most active Catholic Church in the Archdiocese. Certainly it has the best liturgy. It is fully Catholic and you would find that it has no hateful speech about Gays. Everyone is welcome here. We have long been the target of homophobes on the right. Sorry, as a gay man you picked the wrong parish to protest against.

  • Personally, I do not view the vandalism of this church (or ANY church) as a cowardly act. This is what the Christians deserve! FINALLY some gay people are punishing Christians for the way Christians have treated them all these years! Let this be known to Christians who harrass gay people. Maybe, just maybe, they will do the Christian actions of just ignoring it and taking their just punishments as they are supposed to do.

    To the vandals:

Thank you so much for what you did.

  • Wrong! Any act of vandalism is a cowardly act when the person doesn't stand up and take responsibility for his or her actions. What those cowards did was to join the homophobes who hate MHR because it treats gays equally. It does not preach that gay people are going to hell. Most Holy Redeemer came out in support of Gay Marriage. We always march in the parade. We started one of the first AIDS Support Groups in San Francisco.

  • What do REAL Christians (you know the ones who say "love the sinner, hate the sin" and who say over and over again that gay people inevitably will go to Hell? In other words, hate-mongers?) have to say for themselves now? Hmmmm? This is just a consequence of your support for legalized ability to treat people as sub-human while hiding behind the First Amendment and a few versus out of your false book. Occasionally, I use pages out of the Bible for toilet paper. How does that make you feel?

  • Meanwhile, you appear to be a wolf in sheep's clothing by claiming that your particular parish is friendly to gay people. Who has ever even heard of a Catholic accepting the fact that gay people exist in the world, through no fault of their own? I will say that these particular Catholics are a slim minority. I suggest doing research on what the Vatican says about gay people.

How about the silence among Christians regarding gay people who commit suicide over treatment by Christians? Hmmmm?

  • Over the course of, again many years, of this kind of treatment - that still continues to happen towards gay people by Christians - some gay people are tired of beating treated with such cruelty. Do YOU know that, today, gay people continue to kill themselves because of what they hear from Christians and inside religious places throughout the world? Why should it be up to the gay people to tolerate this kind of harsh negative treatment? Obviously, gay people are no longer obligated to.

  • J4unumber, most individuals reading your posts will immediately see the weakness of your argument. You lump all Christians together. The Christian World has long been fractured. In your anger you lump Fundamentalist "Bible" Churches in with the Churches of the Reformation and in with the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches. Those Churches exist because the theologies of those Churches are different. The Catholic Church does not teach that homosexuals are going to hell.

  • "At the end of the day, what is the difference between hate of Catholics and hate between gays, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people."

Easy for you to say! I will tell you. It's very simple really, but your faith allows you not to use reason as to possible reasons why this happened. For many years, Catholics, and most Christians worldwide, have claimed that gay people are not children of God, that they rebel against God, against nature, against their true selves etc. You get the picture.

  • I think that this church and its property should be torn down, and that low-income housing should replace it. It's a disgrace to the LGBT community.

  • The parish is not Holy Trinity Redeemer but Our Most Holy Redeemer, commonly known as MHR.
