In the Manga Dr. Tenma does not die, he becomes a recluse shadow of a figure and shows up time to time. In the Manga version of " the greatest robot in the world" Tenma increases astro's power to 1 million HP. He appears in two episodes of the 1963 anime, once in the first show, and later in an episode that takes place in an alternate universe where tobio (Aster Boyton) doesn't die.
I felt like the new movie was very mediocre. The 'climax' wasn't very exciting, the characters felt way too Americanized, much of the dialogue felt forced, and, to be honest, it wasn't very true to the source material.
If your looking for a place to watch this online then i suggest theonlinecinema. net/astro_boy all the others sites here dont work, spent near 2 hours looking for astro boy, and this is the only site that gives me exactly what im looking for. theonlinecinema. net/astro_boy
So thankful this was included. As a child I always thought Atlas was so cool. Why on earth was his sub-plot removed????? I can understand not putting in the birth of Astro, but perhaps a couple of episodes later?
Also in 'Atlas Lives Again' how does Astro know that Atlas died/was injured?'
OH if you speak of the show yeah it was re-made in the 80's for sure thats when this version was created but it originated in 1963 in Japan becoming the First Anime ever and a kick ass show at that but if you speak of the Manga i heard not sure if it's true or not but it was translated in 2003 i think.
omg, can't believe how much more different the american version of this episode is compared to this..... this one makes much more sense, and is better
this is the only episode that was cut from the 80s collection set(BEST ASTRO SERIES EVER!!!)that i bought, but yeah its the best astro series yet, the tales are meaningful and the action sequences are actually pretty awesome, dont down it cuz its old
Atlas was more like an abused child, (a project) that was abandoned and left to die. Livian was the only one who ever showed him love. Walpurgis and Skunk are mainly the reason why Atlas (grows up to) hate all humans.

so no wonder atlas hates astro, and always wanted to kill him, in their later battles, and why he hated humans, it all makes sense now!

Please translate the rest of the series i can't stand dubs that take so much substance away from the original japanese versions

When does Atlas get his adult body? Is it implied that he built his own adult body, or does someone else build it?

Wow this is so much better than what they showed in the west , the people who hacked apart this compelling story should be ashamed.

Wow. I finally understand part of the story, since this showed me Atlas' back story.
Thanks for posting this.
I certainly don't appreciate the original company who dubbed Astro Boy taking all this story out. Oh, well. I guess That's what the Internet is for.

Thanks, I checked that out myself on wikipedia after you reminded me. :)
I feel sorry for Dr. Tenma though, he shouldn't have to die...
