i wish eddie could do that on a regular basis again so he can get called up to the nation team again . Eddie has rediculous speed and should be a top striker
take me to the grange end want to see him play - wanted kenny cooper but he chose to stay; i really want to watch eddie with you - he is out american boy , USA USA USA USA USA USA
@bluejy2006 well when you have to live up to the standard of laying in Europe it's tough and the fact he was being loaned around didn't really help him either.
What isn't implicit in this video is the fact that Cardiff's supporters will chant the name of anyone who scores a goal for them.
It's not because they're infatuated with EJ in particular, it's because they're simply awesome supporters.
As for the "USA" chanting, I think that's almost sort of a humor-themed thing the fans do, merely because it's an oddity to them to see an American soccer player, and even more so one playing for their own club.
Although when i got back home from ninian last night, i was gutted to find that the own goal was allowed and eddie was the culpret lol! (cos where we were in the bobbank everyone was under the impression that somehow it was dissallowed and we missed the follwing kick-off cos we were takin the piss outta savage) at least he made a comeback though, USA, USA, USA!!!
yea i completely agree with samlandon345 below. he had a shite start to the season, probably because of over-confidence (typical of most yanks), only showing glimpses of his potential which was naturally followed by a lack of opportunity to play. yet during his last 5 -7 appearances he's come leaps and bounds.
I honestly don't think it's an over-confidence issue(in football us Americans don't have a real big reason to be cocky). I think the fear of screwing up and the pressure to perform had a lot to do with his not producing at first. Now that he has been put down a division and is working harder than ever, he's now producing.
he lacked confidence at the start (from his time at fulham), but by all accounts he worked REALLY hard to get in good form, and it is starting to pay off. he has natural athleticism, but he doesn't sit on that... he is growing up at cardiff and putting in some real effort. EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE!!!!!
Love the moment of silence as EJ takes the shot. Glad to see him scoring, even if he got one at the wrong end too. Is he finally settling in at Cardiff, then?

You're not right Cheddar
Eddie has an almost unique status with City fans - not even top scorer Ross Mcormack is treated wit such insane chanting.
He will never play for a team again whose fans give him such support.
bouncinblue 2 years ago 21
If he was such a favorite, then why did Cardiff send him back to Fulham? And why didn't he actually play more for Cardiff itself?
You say one thing, but the surrounding context contradicts your claim and says something else.

example i can give of top level football was forlan at man u.
eddie was so bad at the start, everyone started willing him on to do well, and because he was so bad he became more and more loved.
the fact he was a striker but there was shirts and scarfs sold outside saying 'i saw eddie johnson score' summed it up.
He was a bit of a accidental clown to the cardiff fans, but we loved him for it.
and because he was bad we didnt play him more, and why we wont be getting him back.
bluejy2006 2 years ago 5
well i would not say he was bad.

@bouncinblue You may have been right had he gone to a different MLS team other than the Sounders, but he's with us now. We're crazy as well. ;)

People misunderstand EJ. He was poor, early, because of a lack of confidence.
When he's confident, he's dangerous. He's probably the fastest player in the championship.

don't be ignorant. his slow start was due to his absolute lack of confidence. once he felt confident, he started to play well.

I think the Cardiff supporters like him more than us Yanks. I'm a big fan but most Yanks really don't like him.

us yanks tend to dislike him because of his poor performances with the national team. but he will be a great player for cardiff :)
