It's funny how when people think of martial arts, they automatically think of the East Asian fighting styles. However, we know that martial arts is everywhere we see when people have to fight.
@UJS8X hi.. well no but over time words change and the old translation for animositie is very different from the term we use today, for example if you look at the origin of the word- [Middle English animosite, from Old French, from Late Latin animsits, courage, from Latin animsus, bold, from animus, soul, spirit; see an- in Indo-European roots.] you get a better idea of why Saviolo uses this word. hope this helps.
Great video, great fencers, one of the best recreation of historical swordsmanship I have seen until now. Greetings from the Broadsword Academy Germany.
Hello. At the moment we're just in Sussex but we have been asked to open a salle in London, which we're looking in to, just taking time to sort it all out.
Wow. This is cool! I never thought that anyone would actually use their hands to parry a sword. Its a pretty good idea if you are wearing gloves. Too bad there aren't any historical fencing places near me....
The swords in the video were made by Paul Macdonald about 6 years ago.
However we're in the process of having a '1595er' blade made. It's on its second prototype at the moment but should be available in the near future. If you'd like to contact us via the website I can keep you updated on its progress.
I love your guys' videos. Not what I teach and practice but it's GREAT to see people who really understand it like you guys. Gives me an excuse to "know the enemy" so to speak! Not that I consider you guys enemies! :-) Well done and well put together. Thank you much!

Why does the seal at the beginning say "animositie?" Is that the mindset you really teach to your students?

@gray1595 Ah I see that makes much more sense. Thank you for clarifying!

From about 0.10, it looks like a much shorter sword would have the advantage.
