I just saw Jeff on sat night in Jersey City...he was unreal. I'm so sad that I was never able to see the full band. I can only imagine how great they were.
Although Aeroplane/Sea is nearly perfect in my eyes, this album just very recently started growing on me. Why I never gave it a chance earlier is beyond me.
True. This one is more all-over-the-place, I think. Also, the production on many of the songs gets in the way of Mangum's vocals. Still, both great albums, and I love that Jeff is back in action.
Very first song I'd ever heard from NMH. I remember hearing it and thinking "this is amazing!" That high note Jeff Mangum sings always gives me chills.
This is a really good album. Its very different from Aeroplanes but its still amazing. This album has a bit more of a psychedelic overtone then Aeroplanes but it suits it so well.
@Fanchus Its all subjective really. This album has my favorite NMH songs (Baby for Pree, this song) but the other album flows a little more and has my third favorite, Oh Comely. In fact, I also can find some good gems off the bootlegs; Oh Sister, My Dreamgirl and Sailing Through should've all been published. In other words, its all good- its neutral milk hotel!
Not only did Aeroplane MAKE this band, it created an entire community of followers and overtime, is probably considered to be one of the best indie albums ever made. 'Nuff said.

Aeroplane is one of the best flowing albums with the changes in mood, tone and tempo. After every song, the next song is exactly what you want.

This is a really good album. Its very different from Aeroplanes but its still amazing. This album has a bit more of a psychedelic overtone then Aeroplanes but it suits it so well.

@koalawithagun I came across some friends of mine discussing Jeff Mangum and I knew it sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite place the name.
Then once I finally realized who they were talking about, I'd forgotten who'd said anything about him.
Not many people I know of have heard NMH, so I'm always happy to come across those who have.
