  • Again, my point is that our Founding Fathers did not seem to have a problem with referencing our Creator (..."endowed ...with certain inalienable rights", etc....), they also allowed Judeo-Christian symbols to be carved into gov't buildings....and they didn't have problem with it. I don't think that the use of these symbols "established religion" and I don't think the Founding Fathers thought so either or they wouldn't have allowed it.

  • My point about the term "Separation of Church and State" is still valid. I don't believe that the way many people interpret that phrase is the way the Founding Father' -in particular....Jefferson...who is the one who originated the phrase in a letter- meant it to be interpreted....otherwise they would not have allowed Judeo - Christian symbols to be engraved, painted, etc on many of our gov't buildings.

  • The phrase "separation of Church and State" never appears in our founding documents. It appeared in a letter by Thomas Jeffereson - who actually advocated and expressed that public schools should have the Bible taught....even though he himself was not a traditional Christian. The phrase phrase appeared in was to the Danbury Baptist Church.  There was lso more to the phrase, which supported the idea that the government should not suppress "the free expression [of religion] thereof".

That is one of the reasons Lincoln was hated so much in his time, because of work to end slavery. The war was based primarily on restoring the Union, not slavery. Slavery was a back issue. Many people are missunderstood when they discuss the civil war and the civil war era.

The reason America's founding fathers were so revolutionary was that they implemented the Christian belief that all people are equal and should only answer to God thus creating a democracy. Every form of government comes from a governing philosophy. Many of which come from religions. Democracy comes from a very basic Christian philosophy.   • I'm a republican, but I don't approve of republicans bringing religion into politics. It doesn't belong there, the constitution states that church and state should be separated. Let me use abortion as an example, I'm against it not because the church says it's wrong but by the fact that life is being taken away from a child.
