Jake is normal but Zoe really does need to be in the hospital. It was wrong for them all too escape, Jake is the only one who doesn't actually need to be in there. The rest, they don't realize it but the hospital is helping them.
O___O im bipolar and i dont act that crazy but its certainly a bell curve. I have done some pretty crazy shit. like jumping off a bridge as a way to practice jumping off a building. ive written rambling letters and diary entries that sound insane when im in a "normal" state. sometimes i think im too crazy to love.
@NellekeTheViper No we do not and no bipolar moodswings are not that swift, regardless of what type you have or who you are they do not change in seconds or minutes. Hours, days, weeks, and even months can be the lengths of time it takes for your mood and mental state to change but never ever in reality would it be that swift. Ever.
um i BIPOLAR you moron! i know alot more about it than you i have been since i was 12 so who the hell are you to judge? are you bipolar? ive been to several doctors so yeah i know what im talking about
How was I judging you? The specific behaviors I pointed out (fear of rejection, histrionic traits, overt manipulation, passive aggressive behavior etc) are not bipolar traits. That's all I was saying. So calm down. I know there is rapid cycling bipolar, but the character in this just strikes me as manipulative (I should have been more clear). So chill, I wasn't attacking or judging you or anyone else, making a comment about bad acting.
Histrionic as in theatrical and overly-dramatic... if you don't think she is a drama queen, that is your right, but she strikes me as very dramatic and theatrical. Compare to the movie "Mr. Jones" (which is also about bipolar disorder) and I think you'll see the difference.
Just because you're bipolar, doesn't mean you necessarily know more about it than me. I know plenty of psychiatrists professionally who aren't bipolar who "know" more about x disorder than the person suffering from it. Being diagnosed with something doesn't make you an expert anymore than I am a virologist simply because I have been sick with viruses. Logic fail. As for whether or not I am bipolar, not relevant or any of your business. Cheap emotion shot=death to your "argument".
andf i thought YOU had bipolar lex now its your friend? why would you want to be... ? it sucks! and the girl in the movie is bipolar not borderline, borderline ppl hear voices and have different personalities.
@jennita374 woooowwwww look up borderline. they do not hear voices. im borderline... not mutiple personality, not schitzo.. borderline. it has nothing to do with hearing shit. its too complex to explain.. youd have to look it up. it does have a lot of the same traits as bi polar though. i actually have both. not bi polar type one though. i have bi polar type 2 which is also known as manic depression.. which is what theyre trying to say this girl has,
@kscene People with borderline personalities can hear voices. Auditory hallucinations aren't just a sign of psychosis, they can be dissociative as well.
i can definitely relate to the girl in this movie, although i have asperger's syndrome, not bipolar. i wish i could find someone to love me the way i am.
This is noooottt bipolar. BORDERLINE for sure. I know because I act just like her, and I'm borderline. AND my boyfriend is bipolar, and he acts nothing like her.
She acts more borderline than bipolar. I have a bipolar friend who is on disability- he's done some crazy stuff, but he doesn't worry about people hating him, he isn't overly dramatic, he just gets hyper and then depressed (usually weeks or months between the two). She changes in minutes, seconds even. She is acting more borderline than bipolar (I realize this is just a movie).
@lexikalfanfic There are different types of bipolar disorder that affect how fast one cycles. There is regular, rapid cycling, ultra rapid cycling, and ultra ultra rapid cycling (called ultradian cycling). With ultradian cycling a person can cycle in minutes over and over again. This seems to be the type she has.
@lexikalfanfic I am bipolar and have angermanagement so i know what it's like and plus i just diagnosed with personality disorder,it's tough dealing with it,what some fail to realize is that ppl with that can't help how they act out, that's why it's a diagnostic, but as lond as the person stay on medicine they are good, just saying#
@lexikalfanfic I have rapid cycling Bipolar and I can change very, VERY quickly. I also care greatly about people hating me. Especially when I am manic. I HATE being manic unlike most people who hate the depression. I say and do things and then feel extremely ashamed or embarrassed. Sometimes I've not even done or said anything that bad.
@shoegalsho2 Im exactly the same way. ive been diagnosed with borderline and manic depressive and add and social anxiety... i cant even tell what is what anymore. i feel like a bunch of diagnosiss rather than a person..
@lexikalfanfic By borderline I'm assuming you mean borderline personality disorder, in which I have struggled with many many years.....yet I act nothing like this girl nor does others with it that I've known.
@lexikalfanfic no there are different types of bipolar. I have Bipolar disorder and im just like her, instead of months at a time, my mood swings might switch within minutes. It all depends on the day for me. So it doesn't just have to be one thing.
@inksplatters21 Possibly, or maybe females with bipolar are socially trained to behave in more "female" ways (whatever that means). The friends I know who are bipolar are male and don't act like this. :) She just seems melodramatic in addition to everything else. I like the movie "Mr. Jones", I think that is a pretty accurate portrayal. What can you expect from a TV movie though?
@genet13 Thanks. I am female but I don't act stereotypically feminine (I like to be on my own, hate the phone, am interested in dinosaurs, etc) and apparently have "Asperger's" traits. So there you go. I think more attention should be paid to the true diagnostic criteria originally proposed when dxing (they made the game, now play by your own rules!). What is melodrama for a boy is considered "normal" for many girls, and a boy's passion to compete is often seen as hostility in females.
@lexikalfanfic Fair enough, you're making better sense now. The DSM has played off stereotypes for decades. Just be careful, when explaining yourself and your diagnoses, not to veer off into female exceptionalism. That's not a compliment so much as acquiescence.
@lexikalfanfic Its just like in a plays when they speed every behaviorally change and over dramatize it to fit in the allowed time. Every movie where they have to show major changes in characters behaviors do it but the difference is in this movie they have to do it in to two ways. This disability is both as each visually as it is internally and they have to show this plus outer problem in like an hour and a half. Sped up and dramatized.
@lexikalfanfic agreed. intense fear of abandonment, reckless behaviour, switching between idealizing and demonising others.(within 2 mins of this film) but yes just a movie!
@peachypiedxb Thanks. Her fear of abandonment and alternation between idealizing and demonizing is prime borderline behavior, as you know, so thanks for pointing that out. I also think she is histrionic, but that is a matter of opinion. I think most teenage girls are histrionic, but good point about the devaluing and idealizing. I think some people see aspects of themselves in this character, don't want to be called borderline and so freak at me for stating what is obvious...
@frkPalmer460 - Carnivals usually have rides, thrill rides, like roller coasters and go-karts, things that go fast and cause "adrenaline rushes." Bi-Polar Disorder or Manic Depression (used interchangeably) causes "highs" and "lows." When these "highs" occur, the behavior may be reckless and spontaneous, but the "lows" are completely opposite. The depression can be very severe. Medication helps to stabilize this condition.
How'd he know her where-a-bouts? This is just a movie :)
