Panicing is not for "socializing" the economy. Its obviously to "capitalize" the economy. The perfect consumer buys whatever he's been told to buy. The "government" is the people. Probably not in the USA, since there the "government" is a marketing agency of the corporations. But in normal democracies, the government is nothing bad. Its the people. And cant see anything problematic about people. The corporations are the problem. For them, people are a vehicle to get rich.
I do agree with you. In my opinion, the US government is the most corrupt First World democracy on the planet. Hell, you can't even be elected to any political office without support from a well funded lobby group or business.
I know politicials in other democracies can and are allowed to accept campaign donations, but there are limits on how much they accept. It's a check and balance that doesn't exist in the US, and the people have been paying for it for years now.

I've probably *had* swine flu. I live in Thornbury, Melbourne, Australia which - if you check the news reports - was pretty much the Australian epicentre of Swine flue for a while.
I had the flu a few months back and later read a government report stating that 95%+ of people who presented at hostpital with flu-like symptoms durring that period were found to have swine flu.
It was nothing, a non-event. I put myself in "quarentene" for a week or so and that was it. No big deal.

I've probably *had* swine flu. I live in Thornbury, Melbourne, Australia which - if you check the news reports - was pretty much the Australian epicentre of Swine flue for a while.
I had the flu a few months back and later read a government report stating that 95%+ of people who presented at hostpital with flu-like symptoms durring that period were found to have swine flu.
It was nothing, a non-event. I put myself in "quarentene" for a week or so and that was it. No big deal.

And by the way, the second wave of the flu is expected to be much more fierce than what was experienced over the summer.

I understand your position. But, if I were a parent I would want my child to be vaccinated against a potentially life threatening, but easily preventable illness.
The fact that it would be administered via the public school system is a bonus. Just one less headache for me as a parent.
All in all, I would think that a parent would place the welfare of their child ahead of the safety of their individual freedom.

On avg. 36,000 people in the United States die every yr. from flu viruses. 90% of those people compose of the elderly and people who had other physical complications before they contracted the virus and died.
2,800 people have died worldwide so far from the H1N1 virus.
The H1N1 virus is considered weak compared to most of the other flu viruses that have already been out. 10,000 people world wide are killed by lightening strikes every yr. This pandemic is far worse than the H1N1 pandemic so far.

I like Ron Paul, he seems to talk to people like they are people, while most other presidents talk to others like they are below them. I dunno. I agree, the swine flu has a hint of danger in it, but it's being exaggerated grossly out of preportion. People need to be AWARE of it and perhaps take precautions against it, but the media hysteria is overblown.
