  • Roger Moore was the only James Bond actor I every liked. I dislike everyone else playing him. (my daughter is disagreeing with me and claiming Rowan Atkinson is the best, she still has a Johny English Reborn trauma I suppose)

  • Such good sport, not such a good sport.

  • Good Sport :D

  • This is one of the classic Roger Moore Bond moments of all time. My other favorite is when he grinned at Jaws while dropping the big magnet on him.

  • Hugo Drax was most calm and creepy Bond villain.

  • whoever thinks moonraker is the worst bond flick is nuts.

It was so clearly Thunderball. Moonraker was a bit campy and over the top, not bad. there's a difference.

  • @InternetLad

I always thought Diamonds Are Forever was the worst lol

  • @InternetLad Yes, someone who agrees!

  • Never has a man looked so good in a suit

  • i love how he doesent give a shit

  • I love Roger Moore, my faveroite Bond EVER!

  • think i mite have to buy the moonraker special edition dvd :)

  • This is why Roger Moore was by far the best 007

  • It's a shame Moonraker had 3 or 4 utterly idiotic scenes that let it down so badly, as it really could have a masterpiece with a liitle more care from Lewis Gilbert, this wonderful scene being a prime example.

  • Okay, we have a sniper, concealed in a tree, getting a bead on Bond with a high-powered rifle with telescopic sights - and Bond snots him with a scattergun loaded with birdshot, while pretending to shoot at a fleeing grouse. As much as I like Moonraker, this scene was even less believable than James Bond copiloting a space shuttle.

  • this is one of the reasons Roger Moore will always be number 1 bond, ever so funny :D

  • i love this scene

  • Did I...?

  • I like the most Bond movies. Especially the older ones.

I like Moonraker the best of them all.

Now I´m reading to my surprise, that Moonraker received and is receiving a lot of negative critics.

I´m not a Bond or cinema super-buff, so could anybody explain to me, what isn´t to like at this fine and very entertaining movie?

This movie is never failing to entertain and relax me, no matter how old I´m becoming or how often I´m watching it again.

Everything after Roger Moore became uninteresting.

  • @megatwingo Different people have different tastes. While you obviosuly liked the film, others dislike it and Roger Moore's tenure in general for its overall campiness and techno-pop kinda feel. I personally dislike it for the simple fact that it strayed from Fleming's novel, and all for the purpose of trying to cash in on the popularity of Star Wars.

  • @megatwingo Pierce Brosnan was'nt that bad too....I mean "Goldeneye" was boring!!!! but "The World Is Not Enough" and " Die Another Day" were good Bond flicks seriously!! Im a late 90s kid so i only knew Pierce as bond first till I watched the HBO all-bond movies special. Daniel Craig is medioca seriously, esp in Quantum Of Solace...I would say Roger Moore,Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan were top three!!!!

  • @RimoltFreeGuy

    The actors aside:

What I never liked with Bond movies after R. Moore was the massive / bad hidden product placement.

It´s years ago, that I´ve watched the later Bond movies but I remember a car crashing into a Heineken beer truck in Moscow.

I remember a long announced new BMW car...that was only used in the Bond movie to drive Bond a few meters without using all the rockets and gadgets, that were used in Bond cars normally.

Later Bond movies turned partly into car commercials.

  • @megatwingo True...the true purpose was lost.

  • @megatwingo I agree with you, after Roger Moore left, the Bond films were not the same any more. Roger Moore and Sean Connery had the best Bond films. The other actors were not really bad actors but I didnt like their films as much as Sean Connery and Roger Moore's Bond films.

  • @broman178

I agree. The later actors were all not bad. But the stories / scripts were weak.

Like I´ve said before, the product placement was THAT obvious in some later Bond movies, that it spoiled partly the whole movie for me.

Some of the secondary roles were clumsy written / disappointing, too.

I remember in "Tomorrow never dies", how easy the "master shooter" killer in Germany was defeated.

I don´t remember his name. But a good villain has to put up a good fight. Even in a small side scene.

  • @megatwingo Of course and I also agree with one of your other comments about Moonraker. Moonraker is also my favourite Bond film and it absolutely frustrates me that it is publically the worst Bond film to be made, just because Bond was in space. To me it doesnt really matter whether Bond is in space or not as long as the film itself is good and I am trying really hard to ignore the negative facts about the film.

  • @broman178

If the James Bond movies would be historical war movies, for example. Then I would understand negative critics about some fantastic story elements.

But Bond is pure entertainment with a lot of room for unrealistic elements.

In certain borders, of course. One shouldn´t overdo that.

But I always felt fine with the way Bond and the story developed. Including the space part.

It was a roller coaster journey around the world that ended in Space.

Wonderful. The best Bond Movie in my opinion

  • you missed , bond!

DID I? AS YOU SAID, SUCH GOOD SPORT

  • You missed Mr Bond.

    Did I?

As you say, such good sport!

  • owned

  • Moonraker is criminally underrated. This is possibly my favourite Moore scene in the entire series. He's such a badass.

  • One of the few good scenes in 'Moonraker.'

  • Such a good scene!

  • Sweeeeet

  • Like this scene !

  • MoOnRaKeR

  • Such good scene!

  • did any one notice this is the only time bond use a gun does not use his ppk at all in this movie

  • interesting, never notices. thx for trivia

  • did i? lol the simpsons copied this aswell.

  • roger moore fans watch my vid

  • Why do you think neither Bond nor Drax killed the other one right there? Why continue playing cat & mouse games?

  • Just for fun, that is the game !

  • And to keep up appaerences: James Bond is trying to keep up the appearence that he doesn't know anything of Drax' secret project in Venice while Drax tries to keep up the appearence that his secret project does not form a threat to the world.

  • Killing an agent while hes looking at your installations would be a proof that you have something to hide.

That was made very clear for all the following movies since Thunderball, by Fiona Volpe

  • @Triopstor Bond didn't kill him most likely because he had to find out what the plan was. And if Drax killed Bond, as someone said earlier, then that would be proof he was up to something, and they would have sent another agent in. So it was in both their interests to leave the other alive for the time being. An accident, on the other hand, would have been easily explained (which is why the guy was in the tree, so they could say "well, he was shot by a novice hunter" or something like that).

  • @Triopstor Because Bond's assignment is find the Moonraker shuttle, not kill Drax. That comes later as revenge.

  • @Triopstor Such good sport

  • @Triopstor

But someone dies, just seconds later. The BDSM girl "O" (Corinne Cléry) is eaten alive by Drax' evil dogs. It's not included here, but watch in the related list for "Corinne Dufour gets terminated".

  • Drax:You missed Mr. Bond.

    Bond:Did I?

Bond:As you said, such good sport.

  • I LIKE THIS FILM

  • Gran escena!!! Increíble inteligencia de 007, más aún con el sarcasmo de Roger Moore
