  • What a voice!

  • "Sway" (Cameo 182) was the ninth of Bobby Rydell's 33 hits between 1959 and 1965. It debuted the week of November 7, 1960 and peaked at #14 over an eleven week run. And, as other people have noted, Bobby absolutely NAILS this song, creating THE definitive recording. Considering that nearly all TV in 1960 was in black and white, the existence of this color short is truly remarkable. One hopes, though, that a higher quality, less blurry print exists somewhere.

  • Bobby Rydell is the ONLY singer who can sing this song....no one else. He's always been my favorite singer in the 60's.

  • Amazing...my second fave Bobby side (Cha Cha Cha is tops)...never saw this clip....5***** and thanks

  • Strategy, strategy, strategy......A briiliant musician close to this situation thinks

re-recording this with some Spanish violins might be one way for Rydell to

score today. A reinterpretation of a classic. I value good ideas.

  • Buble may get the hits, but his voice can't touch Rydell's. PCDs do a sexy version that I adore, but Rydell still kills it. May not have the coreography of the others; Rydell's version is time tested.

  • who are the best Frank Sinatra,Bobby Rydell,Dean Martin,Franki Vallie ======D - Justin Bieber ,chris brown, diddy, other faggots

  • I always considered Bobby Rydell as the best singer of his era and there were many.

  • Hugs the shore...nice an gently like a summerbrezze...

    Don Christer...

  • reminds me of my dad, rip. he loved oldies.

  • My favorite rendition of this great song. 2 thumbs way up!

  • remember...nice

  • Bobby and the philly sound - gotta love it.

  • I am swooning retroactively!

  • Bobby is fundamentally a world class singer who shunned the glitter of Holly-wood and stayed local in Philly. His voice,

style, and orginality surpass Buble then

and today. Buble has got great backers

and is a fine singer with a great orchestra. I've seen them both recently live and com-

    pared.

  • Bobby Darin and Bobby Rydell were a total class act!

  • Nice vid

    Nice voice

    Nice suit

  • Bobby is an original. Voice quality is

extraordinary. Buble is a fine singer, but

only in his dreams can he match B.R.....

  • other dancers may pee on the floor..

  • well very interesting, sorry, but didn't see the smile. man's not gay. the dancers were a sad bit to watch though. better than buble? not. very good though.

  • When the dancers look at Bobby near the end of the vid. I do believe the guy dancer actually smiles more at Bobby then at the young lady dancer! Definitely gay.

  • latinas ;]

  • i ♥ BOBBY RYDELL! i absolutely adore this song when its sung by him.

  • @KyuuChan16 I couldn't agree more. This is actually the first time I ever heard him sing this. But what's with the girl behind him--is that a cape?

  • Echkt! Buble sucks arses compared to the real crooners like Bobby Rydell, Bobby Darin, Sinatra, Dino, Fabian, and even Harry Connick Jr and Rufus Wainwright!

but Bobby Rydell is the king! It so reminds me of my Mom blasting these songs in the 70's and watching "Bye Bye Birdie" :-)

  • You had me until you sais Fabian, he was horroble.

  • @smitchelle

Fabian admitted he couldn't sing. In one interview back in the 1950s he said he didn't understand his popularity.

  • this is the best version ever

  • Better than Buble and arguably even Dino.

A unique talent then and now.

  • I thought the dancers were totally unnecessary. Bobby is so suave on his own.

  • I think this is the very best version of this song.I taped it years ago,but I have no idea where it is now.Good thing I can hear it on You Tube. Thanks.

  • without a doubt!

  • reminds me of one of my bad acid trips.

  • Stop taking acid.

  • I gotta get some skinny-legged furniture, an atomic clock, and have a party with this tune playing. Welcome to the Jet age...

  • This song "peaked at #12 on the cashbox chart on Christmas eve of 1960.

  • This really makes me miss the days when all this music was popular..ahhhhhhhh

  • agreed.

first time i heard this was on a tape i found, it didn't play very well, but i kept on playing it anyway. i could just about manage to see his name on the tape & always remembered it.

years later the internet was born & hey presto, sway is now on my mp3....love this song

  • 48 years later and he sings this better than ever

  • He sings the best version of Sway there could be!!
