There's reservation in having a valuable prospect playing in a league that many people see as being inferior to the K-league. The feelings are mixed however since the Song's strategy seems to that he is learning English and getting used to playing in a foreign league with white people which theoretically should prepare him for eventually playing in Europe which is his ultimate goal.
Not even close since he's in Australia and K-leaguer youngsters are banging in goals for the Korean NT along with Manchester United Park and Dortmund Lee Youngpyo, Zenit Kim Dongjin, etc. Not even recent K-league export to AS Monaco(doing well in France) got a call for recent WC qualifiers as did past NT veterans like the famous Ahn Junghwan(fmr Perugia, Metz, etc.), Lee Chunsoo(did stints in Spain and Netherlands), current Fullham benchwarmer Seol.
The biggest struggle for Korean players from achieving that 'next' step isn't techinque, physicality, fitness, football intelligence, etc.. It's cultural, linguistic barriers, food, etc., that are often the biggest challenge when they move to Europe.
That has got to be the worst performance by a Referee, craig moore was bought down in the box like a rugby tackle...song may as well be playing net-ball 'cause the penalty awarded to him was as soft as his nuts...
maybe roar can go one better next year
congratulations Newcastle, you truly deserve it and as much as I hate the bloke I want Joel to stay simply 'cause he is a gr8 player
once again congrat Newcastle and for the 4th tme this yr u hav broken our QLD hearts hahaha
perhaps if qld could finish they would know more about finals footy. but no farina has to pick zullo every week because he scored one good goal. farina is a moron, he did the same with the socceroos, pikced players who had no future. zullo and the other youngsters do not have the maturity nor compusre for finals footy.
The match shouldn't have even gone to extra time. We have a goal disallowed for offside when it wasn't offside, and concede a very dubious penalty on 90 minutes. If the Roar won this match the ref wouldn't be game to show his face around Newcastle again
Could not believe it when the roar got that penalty in the 90th minute. What great character shown by the jets though. Both of the roar's penalty wins were very dodgy (as was ours actually). Being part of the crowd at this match was unforgettable. GO JETS!
I got blasted after the Sydney game for saying Marcinho needs to tone done the celebrations and get a shot on target. Apparently as long as we're winning it doesn't matter.
Well we lost and as he's done before, Marcinho missed an unmissable goal.
Lynch will definitely go, he's hardly been part of the team since the season began. If Reinaldo goes too it's time for a complete striker revamp. We need one of those guys who has the insatiable knack of putting it in the back of the net.
Can't agree with that. How are they possibly going to back up with an equally good performance next week? This match was oh so draining, physically and mentally.
The Mariners are ultra-confident after their 3-0 win, they have had a long rest and they know how to win ugly. Newcastle will start strong next week, but unless they can get a couple of goals, I can see CCM running over the top of them later in the match.
In 50 years that game will be one of the classics of the A-league.

Song is a valuable prospect for Korea, a lot of Koreans are reserved in having Song playing in AL.

To be called up for NT Song has to come back to Korea and prove his worth in K-League or get scouted to Europe.
