@midibass I used an external amp, so I didn't have to do this. But, I've read on most the forums that most people ran grey to the + and black to the negative -.
@bigjoedeuce Didn't have to touch either seats. U only have to pull the back part of the console to get to the sub enclosure and all screws are accessible without removing any seats.
Dude, I ordered the same Kicker you got except a 2ohm. so all i gotta do is trim the box for the speaker to fit, right? I'll be using the stock amp. Thanks for the info man, nothing is worse than hearing a blown speaker.
@midibass I think the only difference will be that you will be hooking up to the existing harness. From what I read you will only be using 2 wires from it; (grey + and black -) are the color schemes that I have consistently seen on the forums. Google "Jeep Forum How to replace factory subwoofer" if you need additional pics, great thread.
@sanchorodgomez Defintely! That's what most people do, and I'm about to also. If you to the wranglerforum website and search for sub stock replacement, it will explain which wires to use from the stock harness that went into the old sub.
hey many i have the same jeep and i blew my sub too, i was just wondering if it would be possible to run the same kicker sub with the stock amp and head unit. thank you
im thinking about putting these in the front and rear door so 4 of these altogether ... but wondering will it make any rattling noises on the door or window?? does it give a good sound?
@zOheb23Q It really depends on what your using them in and what type of sound your going for. Strictly my opinion is the speaker in itself won't be good enough alone, because it doesn't offer enough bass to be a good low option and it has no highs to give you a good all around sound.
This is an okay install in a Jeep because it is for secondary support bass and not the actual focal point of the music. This speaker was only meant to accent 4 other mid-range speakers. Hope that helps.
@newboy022000 I feel ya man, it definitely would have been a better guide if it was more video than pics, but when ur doing it solo being a cameraman, installer, direction reader...etc...this is what you end up with.
@melmelcorvette Thanks man! You just can't be old school rap. Base 305 - The Sound of Science (Low Frequency) Do or Die - Po Pimp Lil' Troy - Wanna Be a Balla Bone Thugs N Harmony - Crossroads Outkast - So Fresh, So Clean Big Pun - It's So Hard Dr. Dre - Nuthin' But a "G" Thang Outkast - Bombs over Baghdad 2pac - Keep Ya Head up Cypress Hill - Insane in the Brain Do or Die - Do You Song that I'm testing the sub too is The White Panda - Touch 3 Skies
@ccrn226 Yeah, just pull. There is tab you have to press on the side coming from the front. Once you have all the screws up, and can basically pick the entire console up, the only thing keeping it from coming up is that plug (1:03). You have to reach from the drivers side (or the passenger) and just unclip the plug.

Hey man, got the console out, speaker out. I've routed the inside. Only question is, I have 4 wires, red, black, brown and grey. Which ones do I use?

Great video. I'm about to do mine. I just bought a 6.5" JL sub that I'm gonna use.
Question: did you have to remove the driver seat completely?

Okay. Thanks a ton for your help. Peace!

Man, mine JUST went out on me! I got a 2004 and I was wondering how difficult it was gonna be to do. Thanks for your help.

@midibass No problem, but remember if your going to use the stock amp, get a 2 Ohm 6.5" and not a 4 Ohm like mine. The Kicker CVT comes in both.
