water doesnt work like that, it spreads out evenly, so the world would have been covered in water... so there HAD to be 2 of every animal on the boat. But even so, it has been proven that you need 50 or so animals to keep a species in existence. So the flood story is just plain bullshit. It may be taken non-literally only, not as fact.

@shadesters The point I am making is it has to be taken in context. The flood may have only been as large as the world known to them. We simply don't know, though.

@TazeTSchnitzel It doesn't matter what you think, and it has to be in context if people are to take it literally. If you take it out of context, then the whole story would just be a metaphor, and therefore the flood would have never happened.
If waters did rise to mountain heights, then it MUST have leveled out around the world, unless it was completely contained within a valley, which would mean that god didn't kill everything on earth, making the point of the ark, well, pointless...
