He's listed in the first edition of 'The Book of Lists' as one of the strongest humans ever, just because he could walk. Most sources list him at 7'6" 1,020lb., and some say he could singlehandedly pull a loaded wagon out of a mudhole, and pull the ox that drew his wagon wherever he wanted it to go.
In North Carolina folklore its said Mills Darden would pick up full-grown horses and move them around like puppies. He could also toss a 200# man 60 feet. Time to take the Bible more serious, especially where it says: "And there were giants in the Earth in those days...mighty men, men of renown." Og, King of Bashan slept on an iron bed that was 13 feet long. They were known as "ANAKIM and NEPHILIM," the race of human giants.
he's my great great great (maybe four greats) grandpa on my mom's side! apparently he had 2 wives actually, the second of which was in my mom's family and he was also known to pull an ox around town like it was no biggie lol
Mills Darden should be recorded as the biggest man in the world he makes all the other people that way 1,000+ look small they were short Mill Darden was both big tall strong alout stronger then yokozuna the wrestler in the WWF he would dominant any wrestler!
Probably right. But of all time? Roman Emperor Maximinus Thrax stood 8'6" outran racehorse overcame pull of chariot team pulled load too heavy for 4000 lb team of ox to budge wore bracelet as ring military Governor of Mesopotamia. His statue is in Vatican Museum. Most likely the greatest ass kicker of all time! Eleven soldiers simultaneously hit him full force with spears as he slept. It was critical that he not be able to retaliate! Brza Smert & Tom Topham may have been able to beat him?
I've also been intrigued with Mills Darden after reading about him in the Book of Records and conducting further research. His story certainly deserves better treatment than this, but it's a start ...
But was he stronger than 196 pound Tom Topham? I think not. Maximinus was said to be 8 feet six inches and wore a bracelet as a ring. He outran a racehorse and overcame the pull of a chariot team. Topham supported the weight of 6 men atop his body with his heels on one chair and head on another and nothing underneath. His voice was so deep he didn't seem human. Derby, England 1734.
I heard that he would never reveal his weight so a couple of guys made a scale out of his horse drawn carriage and weighed him at around 1,029 lbs. He was also supposed to be the strongest man in the world.
Farmersville, Texas, early 20th century, had 6 foot two inch Sam Harris, top weight 731, said he could "pick up anything that was loose at both ends" story seen in Texas Highways magazine 2008 or 2009.
i looked up this video bcuz the down i come from aka darden tn was named after him... the best thing that they do in darden is the darden lights which come everywhere armound christmas! Anyone is well come... they dont charge addmission & if you like u r welcome to leave a tip 4 the owners of the house bcuz if u have ever seen the darden lights u could imagine the electricity bill lol!!!!!! FUN FACT:
his casket was the size of a box a baby grand piano came in :-O
I read that he was 7'6" and 1,020 lbs. Anyway, he was probably the largest human of alltime. Andre the Giant was 7'0 550 lbs, so you can imagine how big Mills was.
I would have liked to seen the size of this guy, having that height maybe would have made him look just big and taking the focus off some of that weight.
thank you so much man mills is my hero to, he lived from October 7, 1799 to January 23, 1857.I really hope they find a photo of him or at least a painting. It would of been amazing be in presence of him. can't believe you only have 7 views.

The townsfolk once had a bachelor party for Mills Darden. He ate the entire cake before they could tell him there was a stripper in it.
