@MsMightyGinge Hey, what's up, bro. Yeah, man. The sizing of dreads is always a blast. First thing I'd recommend: Make this fun on yourself. Make dreads of different sizes. Not outrageously different, but a couple smaller squares and a couple larger here and there. You don't really have to try to make them different. It'll just happen as the sectioning shapes around your scalp.
And yes. You can combine two dreads together. Large or small. It's just... tough and not always work-able

@grimreap93 A great suggestion. I actually have a lot of Lock Peppa. It's just not being put to use! I tend to forget about it, to be honest. I forget how helpful it really is.

hay i have pretty long hair about 21 inches and i want a lot of dreads i am thinking like 130 so they will be thin, i am guessing, do you have any tips before i start
@ExposedD3ath Just make sure that your sections are smaller than the usually suggested inch-by-inch. And count out how many sections you have before you start backcombing. This way, you'll be 100% sure what you're getting. :D
okay so i havent washed my hair with more than water in over 4 months, and my hair is separating out into locks and i've been twisting and ripping recently, but i used to palm roll my hand against my scalp in a circular motion until a LOOOOT of my hair just started falling out... now the top and sides are dreaded but the back is halfway too thin halfway not done at all... how do you stop hair loss during the locking processs???
@prestonbobbby Hm. I've only seen hair loss when people begin to over-rub WAY too much. Is your scalp irritated at all? Best thing you can do is just go back to letting them sit there, trying not to mess with them too much, and let the areas where the hair fell out to get back on track, then you can start messing with it/helping it along again. :) Good luck, man!
@roscherjt Ooh. You may need to wait for your hair to get a little longer, but you could still try to do the backcombing method. Section them off and backcomb. Or, if you want, you could try to do a natural method.
@roscherjt Just a note. This is..usually the most awesome method, but also the one that you must be most willing to be relaxed about. You literally just don't touch your hair. Spread out your showers. Wash with dreadlock shampoo or just a baking soda wash. Just washing with that sort of product will help a lot. Check out Eyeheartchrist 's dreadlock videos. He pretty much started his natural dreads from month one and gives a good amount of details about the process. :)

Hey man< so my hair is about 6 inches long...ive been growing it out for exactly 1 year haha and the plan the whole time was to spend the first weekend of summer dreadin up my whole head. But now that ive been thinking about it i realized that maybe dreadin up right before summer is a bad idea...? you know swimming, running, playing, wind etc. What are your thoughts on this? should i wait until fall arrives?
@MrBudda1210 I dreaded my hair last year during spring break, so I understand your concerns. I'll tell you up front, the summer season does result in messy dreads, but it's definitely not a big deal. If you want, you can put in the time and make sure they stay maintained. It's up to you, man! :) I think summer is a good time to do it because you can deal with that awkward stage of starting them and making them better,

i really want dreads and i have been growing my hair out for a while now.
i talked to my mom about it and she is ok with it though not thrilled at the idea.
now i just need to talk to my dad and i dont know what to say to him.
he is really hard to please and he hates my hair already cause its "to long"

I loved it when i was able to tie my (non dreaded) hair for the 1st time - although I looked like a lab technician, so I stopped that real quick!
my hair is about 8-9 inches long and i guess i could dread it now, but I kinda wanna wait till its longer...
...so dread guru - should I just screw it, get a dread party booked and go for it, or wait til the magic 10"?
