  • I must admit I watch these Bumpers and does take me back. Nothing like Friday night staying up late without the parents knowing and watching R movies LOL!! HBO was the real deal. Today I hardly turn it on. Good memories..THANKS

  • Lets face it!! TV and movies today suck ass. When time travel becomes possible, i'm going to be the first to use it and push my DOB back 30 years and live in the past, when jobs were a dime a dozen also. Why did i have to be born in 1986? Fuck hollywood and tv today. I won't even subscribe to HBO for free these days.

  • They could update that last logo for next year...30 years hence approx

  • that last one got me a little choked up, not gonna lie.. that one is associated with many great childhood memories :)

  • I still remember the two first movies I watched on HBO when the family got hooked up in the early eighties---it was a hidesous Joan Collins movie called Empire of the Ants followed by Future World. Every Christmas I couldn't wait to see Emmit Otter"s Jugband Cristmas. Nice little memories.

  • The one with the model town was the best by far. I remember when HBO actually ran a small feature where they showed the production and how they designed the minatur set.

  • Better tv, Better Movies. Good times and great memories.

  • What about thanking the Corporation for Public Broadcasting? Just kidding! Nice compilation. By the way...the last logo...did they develop it in 1982? I understand it started to appear in 1983

  • Got to tip my hat to HBO - I grew up with them as a kid in the mid to late 80's and thereafter. Though the Eighties rocked and so did their 1983 Feature Presentation theme!!!

  • 2:21 - 2:54 = God's ringtone.

  • I Like Part O:01 and The Home Box Office ID From (1980) at 0:19 and The (1982) HBO Bumper at 0:24 A++ ID's and Bumpers

  • did she just say "enjoy 24 hour gay entertainment"?

    at about 0:40

  • thanks for the upload and the memories.

  • Man the world was a better place back then.... somewhat fresh and exciting. More choices is not always a good thing. I'd give years of my life to relive that era.

  • I agree....loved that time in my life. Those were the good ole days

  • yea ...we had a 25 inch RCA colortrac and 35 cable channels. back then CNN only ran slides and a streamer. sent that set to the recycler last spring.

  • @jfrockon me too. it was a much better time and place.

  • does anyone remeber the movie channel called spotlight?

  • @jfrockon Same Here!

  • @jfrockon Isn't that what you're doing now just by watching these videos?

  • @MrLogoman007 Revisiting but not re-living. :/

  • @jfrockon I'd give my life to relive that era for once. I wasn't born till 1986

  • why didn't you bother to edit out the present-day HBO ident that came before the 1983 feature intro

  • @ARCTICCUISINE you know that ident is getting to be a classic too. you are right it does not fit the time period. I lifted the intro from HBO's youtube page.

  • HBO! Simply the best. Man I miss these.

  • I am very much old school, I've been watching HBO since I was 3.

  • god i couldnt get past 30 seconds i get it i'm watching hbo

  • I remember all of these. Thanks for posting.

  • LOL 1:41 is my favorite too. Haha, this takes me WAY back. I used to lie on my grandpa's bed and watch scary movies like A Nightmare on Elm Street on Friday and Saturday nights and this bumper would play. I always knew I was in for a treat, lol. I'd get really excited. Damnnnnnn, they don't make cheesy good stuff like this anymore! Whyyyy? LOL

  • Same here. Even as watch it now I can feel the excitement and anticipation rise in me. Ohhhhhh those were the days

  • You know the one on 1:36 reminds me a lot of a recent one. You see it before "Band of Brothers" when it aired on HBO and on the DVDs. It's just a lot more crisp today.

  • They don't have big intros like this anymore on HBO or Showtime. It's just like a 2-second screen thing.

  • 1:41 is my favorite

  • the eitors last credit sounds like hes accepting an award...but he forgot to thank god lol

  • I only remember the last one. The best ones are always shown last!!!!!

  • 1:41 Now that's an HBO classic intro right there.

  • i agree with all...it takes me way back. i wanna live in the 80s again :(

  • @twinklinglicin me to, my teen years!

  • i have old tpaes with these on there. i love watching them. and i was little when they stopped using the last one, so its all i have left. thanks for posting

  • Memories......

  • me too, they should come back for the HBO anniversary becouse of the hard work they done for creating this intro on the last video,

  • last one i remember the most. i was born in 84, so it was used a lot in my childhood. great memories. oh how i miss. :-(
