I must admit I watch these Bumpers and does take me back. Nothing like Friday night staying up late without the parents knowing and watching R movies LOL!! HBO was the real deal. Today I hardly turn it on. Good memories..THANKS
Lets face it!! TV and movies today suck ass. When time travel becomes possible, i'm going to be the first to use it and push my DOB back 30 years and live in the past, when jobs were a dime a dozen also. Why did i have to be born in 1986? Fuck hollywood and tv today. I won't even subscribe to HBO for free these days.
I still remember the two first movies I watched on HBO when the family got hooked up in the early eighties---it was a hidesous Joan Collins movie called Empire of the Ants followed by Future World. Every Christmas I couldn't wait to see Emmit Otter"s Jugband Cristmas. Nice little memories.
The one with the model town was the best by far. I remember when HBO actually ran a small feature where they showed the production and how they designed the minatur set.
What about thanking the Corporation for Public Broadcasting? Just kidding! Nice compilation. By the way...the last logo...did they develop it in 1982? I understand it started to appear in 1983
Got to tip my hat to HBO - I grew up with them as a kid in the mid to late 80's and thereafter. Though the Eighties rocked and so did their 1983 Feature Presentation theme!!!
Man the world was a better place back then.... somewhat fresh and exciting. More choices is not always a good thing. I'd give years of my life to relive that era.
@ARCTICCUISINE you know that ident is getting to be a classic too. you are right it does not fit the time period. I lifted the intro from HBO's youtube page.
LOL 1:41 is my favorite too. Haha, this takes me WAY back. I used to lie on my grandpa's bed and watch scary movies like A Nightmare on Elm Street on Friday and Saturday nights and this bumper would play. I always knew I was in for a treat, lol. I'd get really excited. Damnnnnnn, they don't make cheesy good stuff like this anymore! Whyyyy? LOL
You know the one on 1:36 reminds me a lot of a recent one. You see it before "Band of Brothers" when it aired on HBO and on the DVDs. It's just a lot more crisp today.
i have old tpaes with these on there. i love watching them. and i was little when they stopped using the last one, so its all i have left. thanks for posting

They don't have big intros like this anymore on HBO or Showtime. It's just like a 2-second screen thing.
