  • Gogi is alive and well. She is one of my best friends' Mom. She's adorable, and I'm going to make sure she sees all the wonderful comments.

  • This is who I was named after!!!

  • Gogi Grant bein badass!

  • She and her mother lived at Venice Beach and she was very poor-made a few big hits-married a very very rich man and is now in her 80's.

  • I've known about Gogi Grant all my life but feel I'm rediscovering her. What a fabulous voice and presence she has...

  • What a voice! That's what singing was! Now, you won't hear that kind of an alto beautiful voice!

  • Gogi Grant. One truly outstanding singer in a sea of great lady singers. Thank you for bringing your sound to us.

  • What a voice! So strong and still as if she is holding a bit in and not singing out at the full power she could. That's part of the very special unreached impression she leaves

  • Some really great female singers were in the 40's and 50's. PBS had some great shows with some of the stars of that era on stage. She and a few others still have a great voice after all these years. Thanks to Youtube and posters for showing some great music and stars.

  • Never get tired of watching this one!! Beautifull!! Well done!

  • Folks there will never be another Gogi people..........

  • Ich liebte schon als Kind "the wayward wind" und sehe zum ersten Mal Gogi Grant.... Danke dafür!

  • Gogi Grant ist großartig!

  • I am a 56 year old man in Bartlesville,

OK who has fallen in love with you voice and music. What a gift you have given us

  • The video of Gigi at at the Trump Taj Mahal is unreal!

This is absolutely the most perfect and authentic as to the original 1956 studio recording I've seen or heard in my lifetime. And YES, it stands the hair up on the back of my head!

-I first heard this song as a 5 year old in 1956 and forever will associate it with the "open drives" with my family to our favorite vacation spot which was always San Diego County, CA

It's held it's grip on my soul ever since.

    Gogi is amazing!

  • "Wayward Wind" by Gogi, is sooo good. She had a good, strong voice, real control, and class.

  • RIP gogi

  • She's still alive, as of 18 December 2008, at age 84.

  • Well, She could still take some time off or something.

  • yes she has a lovely voice she looks a bit like elizabeth taylor yes she is up there with pattie page jo stafford she is second to none

  • Thank you for posting this video. Gogi is a wonderful singer, lovely, poised and so talented. I love "Wayward Wind" also - one of my favorites. When I think of all the talented ladies, especially of the 50's era, I remember how classy they looked and sounded. It's great to read here just how she is still performing, sounding as wonderful as always, and to know that she has not been forgotten. Thanks again for posting. - Paula

  • Keep the comments coming. I do send her the links to the pages as do her relatives so I know it really touches her when she sees this stuff.

She is a miracle of nature. I always tell her she's a physiological phenomenon as there's just no explaining the straight, high, solid, rock steady breath control and hair raising power she still has. GOD when She goes up in a wail then pulls back into that steady whisper with absolute perfect pitch & control & you're looking at her now...UNREAL.

  • Gogi sounds great as always. I have rarely seen her perform, and I was struck by how big-boned and healthy she is, but with that 50s-style tiny waist that could only be from wearing that device of torture- the girdle. I don't know if they still even sell them anymore. Although the clip is not in color, I can tell Gogi's eyes are gorgeous- clear,

    bright blue.

  • Gogi grant is my aunt she is turning like 88 this year I use to always hide under the table when she came over to my house she going through a tough time last time I saw her cause her brother had died

  • CRIPES! ADAM. I just chatted with her this weekend she's doing OK AND She's not LIKE 88!

Call your Aunt. She's still performing for the Palm Springs Follies....When she can fit them in her schedule.

AND She still sounds the SAME! All of her range and in person she blows the hair back on the heads of those in the audience.

OK she's 80ish but no singer ever kept her voice into their even their 50s. Gogi's a phenomenon.

  • Whoa! That's what you call singing!!! Gorgeous voice.

  • She's still singing and her voice is unnaturally untouched by time. All her range and control still there. None of that unstable wobbly vibrato that ALL female singers get.

She can blow you out of your seat in the tenth row.

Greatest singer on earth...but I'm biased. I love her.

  • I'm glad to hear this about her. I need to get one of her cds, as I always enjoy it when I do get to hear her sing.

  • Me and my Mom who is ailing watched a soprano version of this on a very old episode of the Lawrence Welk Show. Mom complained that Gogi Grant sang it much better and of course I found the original on You Tube. Thanks for posting. Made my mom's evening.

    Best,

    Dworvak

  • What a fantastic voice! Good follow-up to Wayward Wind, should have been bigger for longer.

  • This was the followup to "The Wayward Wind" and didn't become the big hit everyone expected. Why, who knows? Grant is never less than great in any record she ever made.
