  • Didn't he say the F40 was the best ever?

  • My favourite ferrari,i would love to have one.

  • My dad almost bought a 355 but ended up buying a Corvette C5 convertible.

  • One of my favorite cars ever. Funny, because my dad used to own an etype, hopefully a 355 will be mine one day

  • lol @ brick lavatry house!

  • That highway was in the TG episode where they look for the worlds greatest driving road, isn't it?

  • Ferrari <3 Forever.

  • James Bond 007, GoldenEye.

  • sexiest sounding and looking car Ferrari ever, EVER

  • holy crap he is so young in this video. i thoght it was a wig at first

    lol

  • Eh. I still prefer the 308. Now where's my loud aloha shirt, moustache, and curly chest hair?

  • Still one of the best looking ferrari's of today in my opinion.

  • 3:58 or so, my word, the Stelvio pass

  • 3:58 or so, my word, the Stelvio pass

  • 'Ferrari's a racing team first and foremost"

I wish people would know that! All those idiots buying Ferraris for status, tsc.

    People suck.

  • could someone actually find out the name of the song in this clip, it would be much appreciated. thanks :)

  • Ferraris are like hand crafted sculptures, Lamborghinis are like they've been hacked by an axe. Both good looking but Ferrari can be appreciated more. Ferrari always.

  • The best Ferrari's are the F355, 458 Italia, and F-40....and every single F1 car! Especially, the 1967 "Spaghetti" exhaust and Schumi's V10!

  • i saw a yellow 355 today on the highway. stopped at a stoplight next to it and waved at the driver and his passenger. needles to say i got some wierd looks because man does this car look amazing!

also my friends dad has one of these in yellow and it is a convertable and its awsome

  • @snoogboonin i think i saw your friends dads car about a month ago and it was stunning

  • I would choose that open-gated six-speed manual over the flappy-paddles in a 458 in a heart beat!

  • @danthemanpatrick

Yeah im sick of paddle shift already. It wouldnt have been an issue if they had a manual stick shift option. And I believe the 458 comes only with dual clutch. Gone are the days of raw Ferraris like this 355, a true driver's car. The 458 is a great looking car though and it sound is the best I've heard since the 355. Just saw one the other day and its got the throathy treble of the 355 mixed with the bass of the 430. But still they are nothing like the supercars of the 90s

  • @SylncrProG Yeah, sounds nice, besides on the upchange cos of the fully auto gearbox.

  • love the ferrari 355 i want to buy

  • an earthquake occurred on the road at 4:21 jeremy didn't noticed it.

  • Why doesn't he look at the Ferrari 550 Maranello in this video? The F355 was the entry-level Ferrari, surely it wasn't quite as awesome as the 550? (or was the 512 the big Ferrari when this video was made?)

  • @graemeoliver84

The "entry level" Ferraris have always been the quick ones.

The 550 Maranello series were always the banker, stock broker, businessman Ferrari. Todays 612 is also a remnant of that.

  • @Janusha The 612 is the successor to the 456 and 400, the four seat grand tourer Ferrari. The 550 was faster and more expensive than the 355 (which was course a fast and expensive car anyway)

  • Comment removed

  • @graemeoliver84

Well.. that depends if were talking top speeds or around a track. The 355 was quite obviously the fastest and best Ferrari at the time possibly with the exception of top speeds which Ferrari is refreshingly disconcerned with..

  • The greatest car.... in the world, ever... according to Jeremy Clarkson in 1996. But the next year he probably changed his mind, as he does quite often. And as stunning as the 355 is, the E-Type is still better looking.

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Back then Jeremy Clarkson would shit himself if they gave him a modern Ferrari.

  • @Janusha Surely he'd be more astonished by the time machine required to bring the 2011 Ferrari back to 1996?

  • I love f355. It`s so great balanced in every aspect, the power, the handling, the look, and the best of all - the car sound. Just mindblowing...

  • Jeremy Do say now, that the f40 is the best car ever made.

  • i'm justg wondering why is he comparing this car to a '61 jag e type???

  • oh my lord...... STILL TO THIS DAY (IMO), THE best looking, and one of the best sounding cars, of all time....... the 355 targa will be a high water mark in my mind, till the day I die, and beyond.

    :D

  • @lolNEED55 the same EXACT thing could be asked of you, the EXACT thing! Are you on "crack" or something?

The 458 is massively sophisticated as far as performance goes, opinions don't matter with performance figures, the 458 owns the 355, which is why I specifically avoided "performance" figures.

I think the 355 targa is STILL the best looking Ferrari after all these years, and the sound it makes will never be forgotten. In 20 years, will the 458 be held as high as the 355 is now-a-days?

  • @eeeen321 ..hahah nope I'm perfectly fine and sober xD anyway i totally disagree on what you have said about the ferrari 355 being the " best looking Ferrari after all these years " which is just down to people 's opinion in that case you prefer older and uglier car than newer and " beast " looking car as a taste ?? So for me the Ferrari 458 italia beats the ferrari i 355 in terms of looks!!! HANDS DOWN!! Likewise many people would agree to my opinion to !! :) Peace mate xD

  • @eeeen321 hahah nope I'm perfectly fine and sober xD anyway i totally disagree on what you have said about the ferrari 355 being the " best looking Ferrari after all these years " which is just down to people 's opinion in that case you prefer older and uglier car than newer and " beast " looking car as a taste ?? So for me the Ferrari 458 italia beats the ferrari i 355 in terms of looks!!! HANDS DOWN!! Likewise many people would agree on my opinion too !! :) Peace mate x

  • @lolNEED55 Older yes, "Uglier" no.

lol, your opinion means what? To who? Not I. Again, the SAME thing could be asked of you once again.

I don't give one shit what anyone says on the looks or sound, because they are based on personal taste, and since I have heard multiple examples of both engines at WOT, I am not basing this on what I hear through speakers.

I never said anything negative about the 458, grow up child.

"In 20 years, will the 458 be held as high as the 355 is now-a-days?"

  • @eeeen321 ..My opinion ON the ferrari 458 italia being the better looking car than its "ancestor " the ferrari 355 . Well I'm not saying the ferrari 355 is a total "garbage " car but just ain't as great looking and "beastly " as the ferrrari 458 italia .But hey that 's just my personal opinion and taste which you probably disagree but again hey i respect other 's people opinion and taste and freedom speech so yea ! Hope you respect mine as well!! :) Peace mate xD

  • @lolNEED55 Then you should re-read some of your over-opinionated comments before continuing?

When was the last time you heard both in the same day at WOT? Both are killer, but labeling either as "ugly" or "junk" is ignorant, not opinion. YOU are the only one who typed "garbage", so why quote?

I never said anything negative about the 458, because I am not a fan girl ignorantly talking trash, the 458 is awesome; I simply asked, in 20 years, will the 458 be held as high as the 355 is today?

  • @eeeen321 ..yea why not ?

  • @eeeen321 completely agree

  • @eeeen321

Man I agree with you! I know the 355 isn't as fast as the newer 360, f430, and the now awesome 458, but it is still on of my favorites! The best part is that I can actually aford one in the future! A 50k dollar car is not out of my reach, and most 355's have low miles! Makes me smile!

  • 458 italia or 355... hmmm

  • @bonzie1645 458

  • @bonzie1645 355

  • @bonzie1645 both!

  • @MultiTopgearfan i think i can go for the 458 hehehe

  • What is the song in tha video?

  • 3.5 litres wow

  • If environmentalists want to help the planet they should make some soup and give it to the homeless and stop worrying about what cars we're driving about in. Smacks of jealousy to me.

  • did he just say that a 355 was better looking than a 61 jag e-type????!

  • @SonOfRDGear yes, because It's way better looking than a 61 Jag!

  • The 350 is better.

  • FAMKE drives it !so for me most sexy car ever!

  • This 355 Berlinetta was the first real peoples Ferrari. Also probably the first really great Ferrari. Then came the 360. the 430 and now the 458.

  • Circle

  • The F355 sounds and looks so much better than any Ferrari today ;)

  • until the 458 italia came along

  • @hitbythese The only pretty things on the 458's body, are the Ferrari Badges!

  • @mil161 although i prefer the sound of the 458... like clarkson said it's like "a bear... a burning bear!"

  • Where is he driving at near the end of the video?

  • now we got the enzo.. and the Fxx

  • best ferrari ever

  • look at the best 100 cars in the world by jeremy clarkson!!!

  • don't talk shit, clarkson said this was the best car in the world until 911 turbo was made!!!

  • If I will ever have a 355 I'll dress in blue Denim, put on oldschool sunglasses and a Clarkson wig and enjoy it.

  • That road he's on... is that the same road that they later "discovered" to be the best in the world when they ran around Europe in the Superleggera, GT3RS, and Aston?

  • ive been in clarkson's old 355... and he absolutly thrashed it!!!.nice care though :D

  • @TAGBblackbelt That just proves thathe loved it... cars are meant to be driven, not pampered

  • thumbs up if his hair is fucking cool XD

  • i dont just meen thte italia i meen every thing btw the i adore the 458 i love it but the twin turbo porsche 911 is faster to 60 but it does need better handling and to proove my point well crap i cant post links on this ill send you and email

  • @LawrenceLugar1 screw the brod, get the car!

  • @LawrenceLugar1 me to lol

  • its sad really how sociaty isnt into making thing better 90s super cars are just as fast as the ones int he 21st centre the reason for this god fucking damn eco crap and regulations safty bull shit wtf are airbags going to do if u crash going 180mph no fucking thing. or TC thats bullshit to i really want to have the good ol super car back for me ferrari f40 is the best wats wrong with making a car faster with turbos all super cars to day are NA thats bull shit

  • @wowzinger the 458 italia is so far out of the 355's league, that it's like comparing a house cat to a Lion, it's simply far better at everything!

  • man, these are cheap now. i found one for $40k

not bad for a exotic car. i'd take it over a new benz anyday.

  • @joker0187 You might find it a challenge to afford to run one, if $40,000 is your car buying budget. Rule of thumb with exotics: if you couldn't afford to buy it when new, you'll struggle to afford to run it if you buy it used.

  • Running a Ferrari F355 = less of a carbon footprint than building a Toyota Prius.

Go find a way to make trucks and buses more economical and leave our supercars alone, bloody environmentalists.

  • @hurrhurrbtard Thank you!!!!!! (could you pls tell me if that fact you stated is true?)

  • @Maximum777Payne From my understanding it is, building the batteries for instance is an extremely dirty process.

  • @hurrhurrbtard The nickel for the batteries is mined in Canada, sent to Norway via big diesel cargo ship and refined, then sent to China via big diesel cargo ship and foamed, then sent to Japan via big diesel cargo ship and made into batteries, then flown to the USA and installed in the car on the production plant. all that so you can put out 60% of the emissions of a similar sized non hybrid...

  • Still one of the best Ferraris ever. Also and incredibly important model for Ferrari as a manafacturer. Before it several other manafacturers had overtaken them in performance and technology (not to mention quality), but with the F355 Ferrari regained the throne.

The downside was it made Ferraris own "top model" the 512TR appear ancient by comparison.

  • Hes lost his love for ferraris...

  • Comment removed

  • ew rattlesnake... worst track. I get scared everytime I see this car take a 180 degree turn because those side panels are so beautiful. Not sure if i'd own one because i'd never leave my garage simply staring at it, scared to leave its side... sounds like utopia to me.

  • Clarkson looks fuckin bad ass back than

  • how many cars Jeremy has driven?

  • @okami11408 The world may never know...

  • @LawrenceLugar1 - power isn't a product of cylinders. A v10 isn't necessarily more powerful than a v8.

  • nice hair jezzza

  • in my opinion, the 355 has the best sweetest noise i've ever heard from a car

  • fuck off

  • @gumpamai it is the best

  • Ferrari 355 "the greatest car in the world, ever"

  • Im sorry but any way you slice it the 246 Dino was a much better looking car and always will be...well...in my oppinion anyway.

  • OMGHEHADHAIR

  • that road at 3:53 look sstrangely familiar lol

  • @JacobR343 haha did you think it was the stalvio pass like i did?

  • @ducatiracing I did actually lol they claimed that they found it...or did they lol

  • lol, old soundtracks, gotta love them. got that saved by the bell music going on lol

  • Love the 355. Always have and it will always be the one Ferrari I'd ever own.

  • The only Ferrari I'd ever want to own...a hardtop 355! So what is the f430 and the new 458 are faster, and cleverer they're way to flashy and showy. The 355 is a great car that doesn't brag about it

  • i agree with him, i think it is also a timeless design, it sounds looks and drives beautifully.

  • oh man, a ferrari with a proper manual gearbox is just beautiful

  • I'm glad we are past the pop-up headlight phase.

  • im not.

  • Everyone to their own, I guess.

  • It looks and sounds SEX ! =D

  • Then i don´t want your sex :-)

  • LMAO xD

  • Great Car, but the 80s porn Music has to go.

  • @cdleaser

    I concur.

  • I like the 355.

It's not an overdone, or underdone, Ferrari. It looks driveable, and not too excessive.

It has a good engine too. It has a small liter, V8 - sounds sweet.

Big liter V8's sound like crap.

  • With Hair like that this guys not allowed to have an opinion. Great car though!

  • I really like Clarkson's hairs, his style and his wardrobes in the 90s.... the best motoring journalist ever.. and as for the 355, I think it's arguably the better looking ones compared to the more contemporary 360s or F430s. God it's good.

  • 3:45 to the end LUSH

  • They forgot to show the bit where the F355 catches on fire, looses traction and flings the driver into a mountain.

  • Yes, it probably did. But, what a way to go though.

Ferrari 355 is the best ferrari ever.

    and I want one !!!

  • Hell Yes!!!

Imagine your in heaven "So how did you get here", "Ferrari".

    Instant cred!

  • I wonder if Clarkson had a choice between a Ferrari 355 or a Ford GT what he would chose? Cause back then the 355 was his car of choice now its the Ford GT.

  • 2:15 isn't that a 166MM???? :O

  • classic clip... i love the music

  • What is the songs name, that plays most of the clips time ?

  • My childhood dream car and still is. It may not be the best sports car of all time but It's one of the best and probably the best Ferrari of all time. After the 355, everything went all technology and showcase for Ferrari w/ the exception of the 612 which is the only ferrari as of now to have 4 seats and how it doesn't look that much flashy.

The new 458 Italia is a gorgeous car but I would choose the 355 over the new 458. Technology isn't everything.

  • If i could, i would get both haha. The 355 though i would keep forever.

  • Yeah! if I had the money, I would own both. Weirdly, the three exhausts and the instrument panels on the dash is what attracted me the most in the 458. I'd take the 458 to work everyday and the 355 for the weekends because for me, it's a special car.

458, 612 Scaglietti and 355 are the only Ferraris I would dream of owning.

  • i don't think the 458 is much of a work car though :). Getting that stuck in traffic everyday would give me the fits.

  • Yeah. It ain't a Porsche but I'd drive it as much as It can. I wouldn't really waste such thing by displaying it in the driveway. Well there is still the 612 Scaglietti or the cheaper alternative which is the Maserati Granturismo or the still cheaper but more practical Quattroporte ;D

  • Still both are too impractical for true everyday use. Sadly:( I want both too though lol.

  • Well the Quattroporte, Granturismo and 612 Scaglietti have 4 seats with enough legroom for an adult, they also have a big enough luggage space so they're pretty much a practical choice though you'd have to get used to flappy paddles.

But as all sports cars go, they're not exactly built for Practicality but if it's the closest thing to a Practical car then why bother choose a plain Practical car.

  • But since we're talking about Sports cars, I don't think the person who owns one would bother as he/she can buy both a Practical Family car and a Sports car.

  • ur dumb 612 whats wrong with you if I had three choices of a Ferrari I would chose a F40, 71' P4, and a f430 Scudiria (just to have at least one newer model) mmmmmmmm tasteful :)

  • I'm not really a Ferrari fan in fact, I'd prefer a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 over a 430 Scuderia but they make cars that are waaaay more than anything else I can prefer to like the new 458 Italia which I'd choose over a Lamborghini LP560.

I know the 612 isn't much compared to what you've mentioned since all of those are Iconic Ferraris but I that's the reason why I like it. I like the fact that it's understated compared to others but just as good and it's much more simple as well.

  • who is this did I ask for your reply. NO :P

  • Did you call me dumb because I prefer the 612? yes! Did you comment on my comment? if yes then I think that answers your question.

There's a reason why youtube has the reply button

  • How many cars does this guy have?

  • He probably only owns 2 cars. He sold the 355 and bought a 360. Then he bought a GT Ford and gave it back to Ford for a full refund after a month. He bought the GT back again but sold it to buy a Gallardo Spyder in 2006. He sold that in 2008 and now has his third Volvo XC90 ... he probably still has a Mondeo as well. He doesnt need much else. He can call and have whatever he wants delivered to his house for testing, whenever he wants it.

  • I would give all the cars in the world just for the RT/10 Roadster and the F355 B

  • The 355 really is flawless. It might retain some of the styling of the era, but in a way that passes into timelessness.

  • He should have bought that car instead of the Ford GT

  • He has owned one years ago.

  • coltsuperocean10 - But he sold it for an AMG Mercedes, then sold that for another AMG Mercedes.

Clarkson has been a Journalist for cars longer than I have lived. Yet even an idiot like me would pick that Ferrari over the GT.

  • I agree completely, the 355 looks beautiful.

  • he already got one. the ford gt eats that out of date ferrari

  • brutedude1 - Actually, he sold it for a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder after the GT's endless faults.

    The Ferrari is a mid-late 90's sports car with a 3.5L V8. The Ford is a modern car with a 5.4L supercharged V8.

Yet, with all the GT's new technology and massively larger engine it's only a second faster to 0-60mph. It would be surprising if the Ford was slower but there still are some 90's cars which are faster (Mac F1 and Jag XJ220 to name a few).

  • he did.... before he bought the ford

  • He owned a 355 before the Ford GT

  • My favorite Ferrari

  • I have one myself! It's amazing!

But it's not all fun & games with me cause i work hard to pay for this car!

Just bought it a couple months ago...

    for $72,000

  • Nothing stays the best. Look at the Dino! You could have bought a nice one for $5,000 USD in the '70's. The F355 and esp. the '99 F1 355 (spyder) in Rosso Red/ Tan int. is just a dream. Even if it is thrown out with yesterdays trash will come back in the recycle door. Mark my words, I have been around long enough to know.....

Like Jeremy and any motor-head with a brain knows, Ferrari is second to non. and for you Lambo guys, I will give you an on par.

    Poor-Boy with many toys

  • Ferrari's are amazing. I had the chance to get a ride in an enzo back in 2004. It blew my mind what that car could do. I do like Porsches too though.

  • i wonder what he would say today about this beautiful car......?

  • im just an average joe i been very fortunate to drive 1 i was in love before i drove it i was in heaven when i got out it's just amazing to think that you can buy 1 today for as little as £37'000 but these are sure future classic's so the price is only going to up but i will own 1 one day that's a promise ive made to myself.

  • i drove one today

    it was fucking amazing!

  • mr2 haha

  • Does anyone know what the name of the song is that starts at :10 and lasts for the duration of the video?

  • 0:44 Jeremy! Something is in your hair! Ooh no wait... that is your hair... Groovy baby!

  • Ah the good old 90s where supercars were smiled upon and look how happy jeremy is. anybody that has seen his v12 vantage review now realizes that cars that give happiness are soon to be a thing of the past.

  • @desimunda116 It is unfortunate, yet true. Vehicles we loved back then are still prominent, but their numbers are thinning .And now days, with all of the Eco madness, the classic cars in some eyes are obsolete and pollute our planet. I say fuck them =D let people enjoy cars that were good, and still are.

  • @lawnkit22 I think of it this way: it's probably less environmentally damaging to drive a nice old car for the remainder of its useful life, even if it runs on spotted owls and creosote, than it is to build a new Tupperware econobox car and run it until the computer dies. Screw obsolescence!

  • @desimunda116 Try driving a Renaultsport Clio 200 if you think cars that give happiness are gone. It's a £17,000 car, and you will not stop smiling for a second if you drive one.

  • @Skylur45 unfortunately in the states we don't get renault but i'm no denying it as a car because i've seen reviews and from what i've seen its pretty good. I have a Civic Si and it didn't cost much, but its nothing but fun. I got the independent rear suspension and limited slip differential so its great in the corners and it picks up well reving magically all the way to 8000 rpm

  • @desimunda116 I test drove a 2009 Civic Type right after the Clio and absolutely loved it. If you enjoy the high revving Vtec engine in your Civic, you'd love a Clio 200.

  • @Skylur45 I do not doubt that I would. I love those fun little cars.

  • not that im saying the f355 isn't a beautiful and landmark car.. it is truly epic. but don't knock the f430 for example. a truly amazing car.

  • But i don't reckon the F430 has nearly as much soul or passion or flare or style as the 355, or the F40, or even the Testarossa.

The F430, the 612, the 599 and even the Enzo to an extent, are just science, and maths, and racing, and technology.

in the words of The Great Prophet Jeremy himself:

"I respect it enormously! in the same way i respected my old headmaster! ... bur we never became friends."

    just my 2 pennies.
