So amazing...I wish I could take vocal lessons from the bass 2! Stellar performance. What was especially great was their passion and emotional connection to the words they were singing, which made the performance all the better! :)
We are massive fans! We hope that oneday we can be anything like as good as you! watch?v=MfiXMoAou7A Have a listen tou our music ant tell us what you think.
the far left is the baritone u can tell at the end because when he is holding that note there are 2 higher notes the main(tenor2) and the Tenor 1 which is the far right but yes this was amazing
@jorcallison No, the guy on the left is the tenor, from right to left it goes Tenor - Fred Farrell, Lead - Michael Slamka, Bass - Jim Henry and finally Baritone - Bradon Guyton. I've seen these guys live, trust me.
@jorcallison The far left (most bald guy) is the tenor. He was best-suited for the long note (post) at the end, so they gave it to him. It's very common in barbershop arrangements for the lead or baritone to come over the top of the tenor as a falsetto part. That way, there is only one falsetto part instead of two, since the tenor usually has the highest comfortable full-voice range. Lung capacity is important, too. Also, if you don't know already, the melody is in the second-highest voice.
What voice part is the guy who hits the ridiculously long note at the end, he cant be bass or main (tenor 2) so he has to be either baritone or tenor 1, i hope hes tenor 1
Dear goodness, that tenor held that note for 20 seconds...with seemingly NO intake of breath before hand! Chills were only the first thing I experienced.
I am working on this tag to put up here, and i must say, it is EXTREMELY difficult. The level of mastery these four gentlemen have shown is simply above none.
I showed this video to the tenor and bari in my quartet, who have between them 13 years of collegiate musical training and teaching experience, and they both refused to believe that the big bald man on our left was the tenor. I had to go to their website to prove it to them.
So, I just timed from the point where the lead and the tenor switch, and the tenor begins the last note till the cut off at the end (this at a fortissimo level). Are you ready for this ladies and gentlemen? ........wait for it.......21 seconds....O...M...G
The person next to me just literary said, "What the heck?! Why are the hairs on your arms on ends and full of goosebumps?!" I replied...umm watch this incredible video haha. That ending was unbelievably epic
how could anyone dislike this? and when you read this, im not just one of those people on youtube who says stupid jokes about the people who dislike videos. i actually dont understand why anyone would dislike it. i can find no reason.
he holds a G# for about 4 seconds before going straight into the F# without breathing and almost no time to breath before the G#, hes one talented guy
@EnergyPimps I agree man, well said. I make it my goal to try to appreciate all forms of music and to recognize talent, whether I like it or not. Lady Gaga did go to Juilliard, there has to be some talent there. However, barbershop will always be my favorite.
I was fortunate enough to be instructed at University Chorus for 5 semesters by Jim Henry at Lindenwood... an amazing experience I really value and I learned so much from! He's an amazing guy and singer!
@eh2erik i do like jim henry as well. my choir group from school went to his program at UMSL college and he was a great mentor. I didnt realize it was jim henry until i researched this quartete group but i did think the face seemed familiar lol
@atboy356 Yeah, when i was in high school he would come help work with us and we would go work with him at UMSL. Great man and he's a great teacher as well.
@eh2erik I Know. Hes the director of The Ambassadors Of Harmony and i saw them in concert. He also taught my choir for about an hour. My grandpa used to work with him. Unfortunately my grandpa died a few years back. Dr. Robert Paul Drummond. He was a great musician as well and taught the choir at a college out in Booneville Missouri.
This is an absolutely beautiful song performed by a great quartet. And the tag...Jim's part make you crap in your pants because your body can't digest that kind of awesome, lol.

streamed this competition live in 2009. i'm on the East Coast and it took place on the West, so i was up really late. needless to say, this song really woke me up!
@WoWintosh its pretty hard to learn individual notes from a song especially when the there are two parts that are blended in to the other two and are unable to be heard individually.
Roll around heaven all daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Video statistics show this is most popular with males 35+. I really hope barbershop doesn't become a lost art in the future when the new generations come in. I really do love it.
These guys are by far the best of the best. I have been an admirer of barbershop music and singing my whole life and have sung with many groups over the years. This group is truly the best Ive ever heard. Their sound is unique and their blend is second to none. OUTSTANDING!!!!!! GREAT JOB.......................Paul
With 27 years as a singer/musician, I would have to say this is the greatest display of pure talent, that I have ever witnessed. I purchased their CD and it is awesome. Can't wait until the next one comes out. This performance has raised the standard to a new level. Absolute perfection!
The best barbershp sound/performance I've ever heard. All the chords ring supremely and you can really feel the meaning of the text through their emotional perfomance. Each voice is amazing alone, but together, it's heavenly.
These are real men singing real music instead of this studio crap and digital voices. Young men take a queue.
