we just got back from the gulf coast. could not believe there was hardly anything left.. we are from SE fla so we know about hurricanes. GOD BLESS YA'LL
i would like to make a correction, the hard rock casino was built before katrina hit but it hadnt opened yet and had to be rebuilt before it had its first customers
We surived Katrina In Hancock County MS which is west of Biloxi for those of you who dont know. We didn't get flooded up north where we live but our mobile home was flipped upsidedown and competely destroyed. We survived with only the clothes on our backs and a lil bit of supplies we had bought. We had no home for 2 months after Katrina when we got a fema camper trailer. We have since got a new mobile home and have replaced our stuff but we lost so many memorys and pictures :(
i am from biloxi and all i got to say is that if yall were to compare this video to what it looks like now yall would be shocked it looks so much better down here...you know that song i get knocked down...that's how it was for us...we got back up again and dusted off..we are coming back and i agree with mosquewatch..we are not victims we are suvivors!!!
Most of the building shown have been rebuilt. The Ohr Museum was being built when Katrina struck. It will be finished soon. The bridge has been open for a year now.
The Hard Rock Casino was supposed to have opened around the weekend Katrina hit.
A great documentary. I'm originally from the coast and have seen it rebound after Camille in 1969 (I was 4). This hurricane was so much more powerful and literally erased landmarks of my youth.
I went back home for a visit in July of 08' and much of the damage that you captured in this video has been cleaned up. Now, the coast is just a "blank canvas".
I truely hope that the good people of the coast can rebuild a decent coast that isnt just a bunch of condominiums for the rich folks.
We drove through Biloxi in '72, three years after Camille. The damage took my breath away. We moved to the coast in '79. The destruction from Katrina makes me sob. Perfect song for the slides. Thank you.
My husband and I just got back from Biloxi 2 weeks ago on vac. It amazes me all of the damages that still remains. We stayed at the Hard Rock. Look forward to going back someday.

my uncle lost everything in katrina. as many pictures you see of the damage, it still doesn't prepare you for seeing it first hand.

Make no mistake about it, we will rebuild, we will be back. We have walked through the gates of hell and survived. We are not VICTIMS, we are
SURVIVORS.
Good video.

Thanks for your response. We were surprised by the lack of progress as well. Glad you enjoyed it!
