  • Great video thanks :-)

  • What if ALL your strings are not having the correct tune? You need to hear the second string to tune the first, but what if the second one isn't correct? Then the third, fourth, etc would all follow out to be wrong. :/

  • @M8cool This is a question i so need to be answered :/

  • @M8cool Like he said, you can tune your 5th string to the A note of a telephone and work your way through the rest of them from there.

  • THE BEST... i now know how to tune my guitar THANKS MAN!!!

  • @TheCunningAndFought Lol i did the same thing, had a guitar all summer, didnt go near it XD

  • @TheCunningAndFought Lmao same here...I was pissed cause it was untuned and left it in my closet XD

  • this was helpful :)

  • i dont get this. sorry:( please help!!!!!

  • thank u! u r soooo helpful!! :)

  • The problem with this method is that if the low E string isn't exactly an E then the whole guitar will follow being a tad bit out of tune. That will of course give you an problem while playing to a song that has the normal tuning (Eadgbe). I See now tho that he explained how to get a clean A from a phone in the ending but i can imagine how many people who are new to this got stuck at the beginning of this video.

  • @PhsycadelicRock Your are right. But still tuned a little (or more) bit out of the exact E, the guitar itself will be good for you to play and sing along. However you said something about the phone.I seek a sound or sounds that will help me tune while away from home. Can you help?

  • @TAGMATAGMATON well one of my guitarist friends told me that the top E string (open) should sound like the first sound u hear in "nothing else matters" by metallica... ull notice once u tune the guitar with a combination of this and what is shown in the video... and when u play the the top, 4th, 5th, 6th, 5th, 4th (all open) u get the opening riff of the aforementioned song.. hehe... hope it helps... :D

  • THANK U!!!! it helped alot!!!

  • thanks !

the video helped a lot xD

  • this just didny work all together !

  • I'm. So. Lost. ahh what the pickle., ill just stick to guitar hero -_-

  • @MadynatorXOXO LOL :)

  • @haha3811 Hehe :x

  • i usually tune mine to a keyboard or a piano

  • but how do i get my 6th string in tune

  • Wow Guy! Thank you so much. What a help for rookies like me. God told me he would help me out on this learning. And your video must've been part of his plan, because it was the first one I Picked and EXTREMLY helpful. GREAT FORMULA btw. 5-5-5-4-5 rocks.

  • Seriously, Im not even sure how this happened but my guitar tuned itself when i was watching this :O

  • @UKSoFPREDATOR God's got your back like that. :D

  • @themeekwin true dat

  • how do you tunbe your E string?

  • Thank You

  • OMG, your a life saver thanks !

  • What if you're in Drop C and you want to go back to standard? This method won't work when you're in Drop C cuz your low E isn't in tune.

  • Awsome

  • My A have long noise it just make me angry. How to fix this?

  • oh my... THANKYOU SOO MUCH FOR SHARING! i knew my guitar was out of tune... sounds much better now... sounds exactly like yours xXx

  • fuck...... my tuning is never right... now got to use a tunner

  • ''skip ad now'' well im not going to watch the sad fuckers.

  • how do we know if our 6th string is in tune

  • thanks for this. NOT. my guitar is now broken.

  • may everyone shut up about 6th string tuning? it doesnot make really much difference if you tune it up or down, the only way to get it right is to play something and tune it by ear, but people who are newbies and know nothing about guitars, how they are supposed to tune it?

  • awesome thinks bro

  • Very helpful, thank you very much for putting this video up.

  • GAY KKK

  • AHMM... stupid///

  • Seems like people aren't creative enough to be playing the guitar if they can't figure out how to tune the 6th string from the information he gives. :-\

  • @SatanistSin WAW! thats such a crock of shit ive never picked a guitar up in my life and your trying to tell me because i cant tune the 6th string i dont deserve to play.... your a fuckin arrogant peice of shit u no that?? how about instead of trying to b clever you either help or FUCK OFF.

  • @mrlegkick666 I didn't say "deserve to play" I said "creative enough to play". Saying "deserve" implies you shouldn't be allowed to play, but what I said implies that you'll have a hard time doing it. By all means continue to play and to learn how. I'm just saying, he gave enough information to tune the 6th string and if you can't figure out how, how are you going to create patterns of chords and riffs for a song? He tells you how to tune the 5th string, just revers the proces from there.

  • I tried to get the sound but I had to tune it so high that on of my strings broke

  • @bmxbuddyboy99 two of mine are broken aswell

  • this really helped me ...thanx very much mr.

  • i wanna play IRIS and i wanna know how to tune it a BDDDDD. THATS IT!!

  • Or you can simply tune your low E to the first E sound he played. Just make your E sound like what he played at 0:33 or thereabout. I am a beginner and I have successfully tuned mine. Sound great.

  • what if a tune my guitar (acoustic) and the first 3 strings almost all of them are REALLY loose did i tune it wrong or something?

  • i coundlt hear any anything,,, no help at all :/ bllll

  • thankyou, this helped me, i can't find my tuner, noooooooooooooo 20 bucks, dangit

  • this was helpful thanks :)

  • uhhh... my guitar is like really really really badly tuned and i like dont really kno what to do?

  • @pinkisador sameeee..:L

  • call me deaf but I just can't seem to to tell the difference :L

  • I AGREE WITH THE MAN/WOMEN UNDER ME!!!

    VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

  • SPEAK THE FUCK UP!

  • tnx for this video bcoz now, i can tune my guitar without a tuner.

  • If you can get the E string right, this is a very accurate method of tuning actually, as you can hear the "crashing" and fine tune until its smooth out. Tuning to another sound source is much more difficult to detect the "crashing" thing, at least to me anyway.

  • He said right at the begining you can tune the guitar to itself very easily. thats all hes doing, relative tuning, doesent have to be frequency pefrect but itl still sound right, miby a semitone or two out

  • lol "your formula".... its not science my friend, it's art.... but good video...

  • i literally just started teaching myself to play guitar and a friend messed up my high strings and this really helped get it back in tune thanks:)

  • but your g strings not tight enough to help u out i usualy finger a minor

  • I still can never get it right.

  • fkin awsum.. Thanks a ton !

  • Students watch this.

  • why are people so stupid that they dont understand this, it may be the most easiest way to tune a guitar without a tuner

  • I cant even see the tuning thingy ... DAMN

  • this is bullshit my friend

  • eh i just got one and meh stepdad messed it up idk really much about notes i getting lessons IT'S ELECTRIC I CAN'T DO THIS!

  • I CANT DO IT! THE FIRST 3 STRINGS SOUND THE SAME!

  • i cant do it!

  • nice tutorial ! tnx a lot !

  • i can never understand this T3T

  • fuck I cant get it?????????

  • Some people are just rude. Thank you:)

  • ty for helping nice this was easy to

  • U are really a good person thank you ..sir

  • cery dissatisfyed

  • thas what i was juss thinkn lol

  • thanks! it really helped :) thumbs UP.

  • you are all noobs...

  • @SPYDDET

then why in da fuck are u here then

  • @xVSxDarkBlazer69 i wanted to find a video for my friend who just got a new guitar, and i looked through the comments and noticed that 99,978% of the comments where questions even my mom could answer

  • wait, howndo u tune the 3rd string? little confused what you mean when you start to change to ur 4th frets.... u tune the 3rd using the 4th string + 4th fret or is it you make the 3rd string 4th fret sound like the 2nd string?

  • @vercifx when u are going to tune the 2nd string(counting from bottom to top) use the 4th fret on the 3rd string, that sound should be equal to the 2nd string.... for tuning the 1st string:touch the 5th fret on the 2nd string....

  • well my guitar is still not tuned much u helped cus it tuned better then it was befor but im not sure the 5th string on my guitar is not right... :/

  • super cool mahn !! thumbs upp !! dint ever thought tuning a guitar wud be so easy !!

  • wow! this really helped me. i have a guitar tuner tho. but then when i try tuning 1E it says 2B. oh yeah. and my friend is asking. his guitar like always gets bumps around it get bumps here and there. can that cause any effect to the guitar? anyone help?

  • this vid is awesomeee !!!!

i dnt no y u guys r complaining ........if u dnt have anything good to say then dnt say anything!!!!!!

  • ???????

  • oh i see you got it with the A string with the phone. pretty ingenious bro

  • you failed to mention how to tune it if your e string is off tune. if your E string is off doesnt that kinda prevent you from using your method?

  • hey youtube. FUCK YOUR ADS

  • So are you suppose to make it that when you play it with ur finger it has to be the same when you play it open or is it the other way around ?

  • how do u know if your top E string is in tune

  • @kenwoodline6 u develop an instinct of how its should sound over time...

  • @AlphaNearBakura13 Thnx, I just found that out yesterday when my cousin came over and we had to tune his guitar...IT SOUNDS AWESOME NOW!

  • @kenwoodline6 glad 2 hear that

  • @kenwoodline6

with a tuner actually, this method sucks balls and so does this fucking video.

  • @levlobotomy U suck to but we don't talk about it out loud!

  • @kenwoodline6 u need to tune the 6th with the 5th

  • Comment removed

  • @kenwoodline6 he isn't using electronic method - either you hear an E or you don't - if you don't , perhaps you should try electronic method to learn the sounds and for jadecbb, the 6th string is the last string on the 5th

  • @OzzyDogborne ooookkkk...

  • @kenwoodline6 the guitar is in tune with itself. it would only matter if playing as part of a band

  • @jimilmilm what does that mean?

  • @kenwoodline6 the part with the phone on the video :))

  • @bugiman18 ok....

  • @kenwoodline6 if you have a keyboard just match the tune to that

  • @kenwoodline6 If you watch youcanlearnguitar's video "How To Tune A Guitar" he says that you should assume the low E is already in tune while you un-tune the other 5 strings and go from there.

  • Thanks! 55545 saved my life XD

  • his 'formula"

  • thank you..!

  • 5 5 5 4 5 helped a lot... thz dude

  • waht do i do if i am missing "A" string? and cannot get another? how will it be tuned?

  • @OrangePenguin527 /watch?v=gzKCgwvv-vw

    here, use this.

  • all guitar teachers are talking about tuning by having the lower E as the string of reference. Here's the question: what happens if that lower E is itself out of tune ?

I know pressing fifth fret on lower E produces an A; Is it always the case no matter how untuned that string is ?

  • @LAmbitieuxNo1 You must have missed the end of the Video...He says you can tune the 5th string to the tone of the Telephone "Dial Tone" Therefore start with the 5th...then match the lower E to the 5th string...then continue tuning using the directions he gave. Good Luck
