You are one lucky young man, to have a dad who is a train driver ( with London Midland I believe ), as you are able to travel anywhere for peanuts. For me to do the same journey would be close on £400.00 for the round trip.

@rachaelmatt the staff are more stricter than London Liverpool Street. Ask sim0ntrains and ianpooletrains and they will tell you what a bad experience they had when they went there back in August.

@rachaelmatt aye. Although when I went last year my experience was a lot better. Firstly I was moved off platform 5/6S but the gentleman was polite. I was allowed to continue taking videos. I just had to keep going on and off the platforms because they have little fences block access to the platforms. It turned out fine in the end because I got what I wanted and that was an HST going through the wash.

That journey reminded me of when I travelled up & down the country for a week with a railrover ticket. My longest journey was Plymouth to Inverness in 1 day, but that was before the XC direct route. How did you manage to do it for £2 whats the catch?

@steamisbest There isnt a cross country service to Inverness these days and as far as I can remember there never has been? Its £2 for me to travel anywhere on any service because my dads a driver so I have a pass.

@steamisbest do you mean aberdeen? there's a cross country service that goes from penzance to aberdeen, and takes 13 and a half hours :P
