How Dino Bravo's finisher became the sidewalk slam only can be explained by the fact Jim Ross called it that and other commentators have just copied.

Recently Michael Cole was teasing Booker for getting the name wrong of a move. It was the alabama slam and Booker called it the sidewalk slam. Because of Jim Ross the move that Kane uses which was made famous by the late Dino Bravo is now called the sidewalk slam. It used to be just called the gutwrench suplex.
