Hot water works! I was a snake hater but now own many and have 5 kids! One big no no is do not feed them in their cage! I own a young ball python, bull snakes, corn and a king! They are fed well but also held and fed in boxes! We do this so they know when we reach in their cage they know we want to hold them! I have only one snake that has ever bitten and I got him on purpose the others have never bitten and give warning when irritatated!
burms are generally quite placid snakes and won't bite when handled. they do however have a very powerful feeding response. any time you stick your hand in their enclosure you're running a good chance of being bit until they realize you're not food. even a burm that eats on a regular basis will still lunge for it's food. this habit can be avoided by using a separate enclosure for feeding. that way they don't associate their house with feeding. or you can just use a big pair of tongs :-)
I ROFL at all the peeps that say they are fine when tamed and wont attack. Just like bears and tigers dont attack when tamed and treated right, I can think of more then one occasion where a usually calm tamed bear and tiger has attacked its trainer/owner. Its not a robot and you NEVER have control over it, it does what it wants and if it gets the urge it will attack.
Its a ball python....she reports in the call! and a burmese in vid the show made!!!!!! big difference! and all she had to do was pour alchol on the snakes face....or submerse the snakke in water!! educate yourself before you buy snake! jesus......talking about over reacting!!!!
Constrictor snakes, honestly in my opinion, shouldn't be pets. They aren't any safer than a rattlesnake or cobra. All these snakes deserve to be in the wild anyways. If you must have a snake, get a corn snake, king snake, or garter snake.
STUPID FUCKING IDIOT HUMANS. I don't feel sorry for her at all. Humans got to stop using snakes and spiders etc as pets. They're meant to be in the wild. Not in a fucking cage. Omg.
I have 5 pet pythons. Never feed them in the tank where they live. If they always go into a specific feeding tank then they dont bite anything that goes in their home tank. When feeding use very long bbq tongs. If the snake misses the food, you don't get bit. Also, have an end of feeding ritual. I drip warm water on my pets after they eat. This calms them and lets them know dinner is over. This way I can pick them up out of their feeding tank and put them back in their freshly cleaned home tank.
Snakes produce dealdy bites and you have to treat them well. I wouldn't take care of a snake that Maggie owned named Popcorn. I wonder if cat scratches are emergencies.
This is exactly why you do not let people that do not know how to handle snakes feed them. If it's a "ball python" it will NOT kill a human. It does hurt like a bitch and it does bleed but it is not going to kill you. At 7 foot long a Burmese python is not going to kill a human. Why the hell would you starve your pet like that? The reason those snake get such a bad rep is because idiot owners don't care for them properly and don't feed them.
the call is about a ball python snake???? in the video says burmesse python....in any way a ball python could make some damage....a burmesse could couse some horror in that kind of people...
Lesson to be learned: NEVER put your hand into a python's cage when you're feeding them and always keep emergency snake procedures & supplies always placed next to the cage. -__-'
One thing I was taught is that if a snake coils itself around any part of your body, pour hot water on the snake if it is available. Another method I heard was to take the tale and bend it back. If you have alcohol available, pour it in it's mouth if you can. The most important thing to do is "do not panic". It's easier said than done, but that's also because most people that this happens to do not expect it, they are caught off guard.
real snake owners should educate their pet sitters who actually know what the hell there doing, not putting their hand in the cage when there in 'hunting-mode'.
My elementary school science teacher had a corn snake named Slither. Whenever we had Animal Time everyone wanted to be in charge of him, including me.
Haha wow iv been reading these comments.... Achol really wont work.... Stabing it really? Would u stab a dog if it growled haha. And a ball python its a fucking burmese python i have a 13 footer. Keep in mind im only 13 and i know more than all of you so far that have commented. Haha wow
I feel bad for the woman, she clearly didn't know anything about the snake when it came to feeding it, and she wasn't given proper feeding tips. She could have died if she would have constricted her airways if she would have continued up and around her neck. Considering she still takes care of the snake, she's pretty brave because that's enough to scare anyone, especially with how large of a python it is.
a python that weighs 70 or 60 pounds could probably crush someone's trachea if they constrict hard enough. Also, if a python is wrapping aroung your neck or arm and wants to eat you, just take it by it's tail and reel it off your neck, no need to cry.
I know the dispatchers need a clear calm person on the other line, but it's hard when you're the victim. Sometimes it's hard to remain 100% calm during most situations.
If she was able to make it to a phone and the dinning room table. She could of made it to the kitchen and grab a knife and stab it. She could have been able to avoid her injuries if she just stab the damn thing. Who in their right mind has a snake as a pet anyway?
I've had things like this happen with snakes before. When they bite and hold on all you have to do is hold their head under water for a couple minutes. Eventually their need for oxygen will overpower their desire to eat your hand and they will let go.

ur a dumbasss, it takes months for snakes to digest the food, even if you wanted to feed them weekly, they wouldnt eat it because they would still be full
If a "pet" python starts to wrap around you or someone you are with you should spray it with alcohol in the face (they hate it and will let go to try to get away) Beer, wine, rubbing alcohol, works great! If not available use a sharp tool against it skin. Stab it if you absolutely have too. It sounds it she had plenty of time to do any of the above.. at least stab it with a knife. I love snakes but this is what to do! Also stay calm, more you scream the less oxygen you will have!
When a snake attacks and wraps around you hold your breath for as long as you can. Because when you exhale the snake will constrict. And never put your hand near a snake if you've been touching food. Then the snake may mistake you.
This just proves that ALL wild animals need to be free and stay that way. I couldn't imagine having a snake in a glass cage at all; they are meant to be free and roaming and slithering around, not just waiting to be fed or let loose by people because they can't care for them in the proper way. I don't mean to sound callous; but leave the animals in the wild as they belong!!!!! Don't mess with wild animals!
@theystillcallmebee ...And don't bring them to Florida! I'm having to kill everyone of them I find in the Florida wilds due to escapement or stupid python owners turning them loose. They're destroying the Everglades. All because a snake owner can't be pleased with having a native species, they must have an exotic for the 'wow' factor (low self-esteem?).
There's a difference between wildcaught animals that are torn away from their natural enviroment and captive bred animals that are 100% adapted to the "cage" life. Breeding animals is vital to preserve species that are being buttfucked by humans, for their selfish toughts ("tropical" leather, wood cutting and so on). Skrew the rest, as long as i get rich! Serious breeders are the reason there's a future for species to exist when their natural habitats WILL be gone.
My neighbor had a python, and it attacked him(he was 57 when it happened now 6FT under)he was feeding him, and it grabbed his arm with its mouth, and made its way to his neck. My neighbor barely was able to reach the panic button on the alarm, but it was to late.
One you DO NOT hand feed a snake especially with your hand at the end of the rabbit where the snake will strike it! And the snake in the reenactment is a Burmese and the caller is saying a ball python. Geez i hate he media they make snakes look horrible!!! And a snake isnt tall it is long haha. This is my husbands account and he and i both have been bitten by snakes over 5 feet long as we own several boas and one Burmese.
I like almost fell outa my chair i jumped so hard when the snake seized her! she was frantic and i was tearing up.... and i dont just cry over stuff like that... but then again ive been watching Rescue 911's for about an hour now so....
Alcohol (as in liquor) works best. Just pour a tiny bit into the mouth and it'll let go! Emergency responders are almost always idiots when it comes to this.
Snakes are not evil!! As long as keep the snake fed and comfortable, there is no reason a snake would want to bite you. Period.
@defjamv89 its hot water jackass...what the fuck will cold water do...nothing.use hot ass water or rubbing or a higher potency alocohol such as everclear or 151
thats what i was thinking too...cold water. and they should be feeding it a lot more then just every 3 months so that it doesnt get as agressive when meal time comes around.
king snakes are awesome. They are immune to almost all venomous snakes that reside in the us, and are also very docile. They are almost as common as pets as corn snakes!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!ITS A BALL PYTHON HOE They dont get 7 feet the largest ever recorded ball python is 6 1/2 feet and there is like a 1% chance it got over 6 feet. It was probably a 5 footer and he couldnt eat you. A bite doesnt even hurt from mine and he is 5'4". They tried to make it look cool by using a burmese pyton.... Dumb tv people
Shatner says it's a Burmese during intro starting at 2:27, and since she obviously didn't know how to feed a snake, she probably doesn't know a Ball from a Burmese to a Boa....that or the stress of having a friggin SNAKE on your ARM can get you to FORGET what species it is...it's not like she could turn around and ask the snake, "Hey, what species are you?" (She doesn't look like Harry Potter to me....to be able to talk to the snake)
Thats a beautiful snake...I am glad that she is still taking care of it being it was not the snakes fault. I would have one if I was allowed to where I live. i love em!
The dispatchers have to stay calm so that they can calm the caller down. If the dispatcher starts freaking out, the caller will get even more hysterical and won't be able to give the necessary information.
@torritornado IF EVERYONE PANICS , NOTHING GETS DONE , SHE HAS TO STAY CALM , ALERT WHOEVER CAN HELP AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, PANICKING MAKES YOU DISORIENTED
First she makes that awful noise when pulling that rabbit out of the bag. then I was like "WTF she just put that rabbit inside that cage with her whole arm, her arm between the snake and the rabbit, WTF" and that with a hungry snake O.o, then I was like WTF she just lets that snake coil over her hand and calls 911 instead try to move it away" then she is like "the snake is moving to my head" while she keeps holding the phone with her other hand rather than try to move the snake away, WTF
You are not suppose to feed a snake in its cage because every time you open the cage they think you are going to feed them that is why it attacked her.
like when parents have huge pythons with their infants and kill the snake when their baby gets attacked , uhmm if you have an infant dont have a snake?! and shes crying bc a ball python wont get off her hand?! pllzzzz the fire dept. have way more important things to do
omg.... ok Im ready for hatemail. snakes arent as bad as they seem. If you take care of it,and tame it? it wont strike. none of my snakes have ever bit me . or anyone at that matter. but as soon as someone gets attacked all hell breaks loose.
snakes cant eat people. They cant get past your shoulders. Their jaws only open vertically not horizontally. You stand a better chance probably of winning the lottery then being eaten by a snake. I am not saying that people havent been killed by pythons though. I have a ball python myself and have never been bit. This incident happened cause the snake was really hungry and animal instinct took over. Keep it well fed and the aggression drops and incidents like this are rare.
when she called 911 she said it was a ball python but then the cop said burmeese python. how could she think it was a ball python they dont even get that big!
This is a different house than the one that was used in "911 Firecracker Explosion". They do use the same house in "Teen Car Crash", "Remarriage Rescue", "New Daddy Crash", and "Hostage Hot Pursuit", though.
My first reaction, besides saying "OH SHIT" would be to grab a knife and stab that snake...most likely I would end up slicking my arm in the process, then call 911.
why do they send fire trucks to medical situations like this which doesnt really need a fire truck, what if somebodys house catches fire, that fire truck could be used to save somebody in a fire, after all thats what a fire truck is for its not an ambulance.
im guessing because they have equipment for a variety of situations and the police don't. although I believe that if a fire truck is called out the police usually follow if they are free.
several reasons. What if the person is too injured to open a locked door and you need to break the lock? What if the person is heavier than normal and you need more lifting power to move the person to the ambulance?
It's been a while since I've had French, but I think it says, "Nature respects nature, it's not a game, in addition to doing a report on the winner, it's ridiculous. If that was a anaconda, she would be dead."
LOL!!!!!!!!!! a Ball python, jesus! Hahaha i love how they use a Berm in the vid that gets 300x bigger, balls dont even have Fangs, a puppy has bigger sharper teeth.
i agree, she was letting herself die by staying on the phone after asking for help, even if she couldnt have got a knife she shouldve strangled it, hit it in the eyes, anything!
what is the point of getting all the info. can't they just tell the address and tell what they need and send the rescuers off?

When this type of stuff happens there's so many things you can do to get the snake off.
1. Pour Steaming hot water on the reptile. They'lll let go instantly.
2. Grab the tail and bend it backwards. It causes terrible pain for the viper and they'll let go.
3. Spray some type pf stinging fluids in it's eyes like alcohol or anything like that.
4. If need be, get a knife if you're able and stab the living daylights out of it until it let's go.
Plenty of options. If you didn't know, now you do.

My neighbor had a python, and it attacked him(he was 57 when it happened now 6FT under)he was feeding him, and it grabbed his arm with its mouth, and made its way to his neck. My neighbor barely was able to reach the panic button on the alarm, but it was to late.
RBuzbee 2 years ago
it was his fault then.
mugtar100 1 year ago
One you DO NOT hand feed a snake especially with your hand at the end of the rabbit where the snake will strike it! And the snake in the reenactment is a Burmese and the caller is saying a ball python. Geez i hate he media they make snakes look horrible!!! And a snake isnt tall it is long haha. This is my husbands account and he and i both have been bitten by snakes over 5 feet long as we own several boas and one Burmese.

she should of just ran it under cold water it would of let go.
defjamv89 2 years ago 4
Alcohol (as in liquor) works best. Just pour a tiny bit into the mouth and it'll let go! Emergency responders are almost always idiots when it comes to this.
Snakes are not evil!! As long as keep the snake fed and comfortable, there is no reason a snake would want to bite you. Period.
HitomiNoRyu 2 years ago
@defjamv89 its hot water jackass...what the fuck will cold water do...nothing.use hot ass water or rubbing or a higher potency alocohol such as everclear or 151
chronicfetus99 2 years ago
thats what i was thinking too...cold water. and they should be feeding it a lot more then just every 3 months so that it doesnt get as agressive when meal time comes around.
instagasm 2 years ago
@defjamv89 I heard cold TEA has the same effect. Cold Water/ Tea etc. Also works for lizards as well.
CarbonSXMonkey 1 year ago
@defjamv89 is that true? would that work on both boas and pythons???

I think snakes r cool. I think my favortie kind is king snake I don't know y though.
anamallover 2 years ago
king snakes are awesome. They are immune to almost all venomous snakes that reside in the us, and are also very docile. They are almost as common as pets as corn snakes!

don't people (even non-snake people) know that constrictors don't have venom?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!ITS A BALL PYTHON HOE They dont get 7 feet the largest ever recorded ball python is 6 1/2 feet and there is like a 1% chance it got over 6 feet. It was probably a 5 footer and he couldnt eat you. A bite doesnt even hurt from mine and he is 5'4". They tried to make it look cool by using a burmese pyton.... Dumb tv people
tko1271 2 years ago
lawlz a ball? shes flipping shit over that but a snake most likly wont bite and keep ahold unless its hungry i just order a burm =P
bmxryd3r 2 years ago
Shatner says it's a Burmese during intro starting at 2:27, and since she obviously didn't know how to feed a snake, she probably doesn't know a Ball from a Burmese to a Boa....that or the stress of having a friggin SNAKE on your ARM can get you to FORGET what species it is...it's not like she could turn around and ask the snake, "Hey, what species are you?" (She doesn't look like Harry Potter to me....to be able to talk to the snake)

i use to have a 6 footer and her bite DID hurt.

i hate how the opperators just stay calm and act like the person callng is annoying! grrrrr t makes me mad!
torritornado 2 years ago 16
The dispatchers have to stay calm so that they can calm the caller down. If the dispatcher starts freaking out, the caller will get even more hysterical and won't be able to give the necessary information.

First she makes that awful noise when pulling that rabbit out of the bag. then I was like "WTF she just put that rabbit inside that cage with her whole arm, her arm between the snake and the rabbit, WTF" and that with a hungry snake O.o, then I was like WTF she just lets that snake coil over her hand and calls 911 instead try to move it away" then she is like "the snake is moving to my head" while she keeps holding the phone with her other hand rather than try to move the snake away, WTF

she said it was a balled python and they showed a burmese? what's up with that?
Stace1319 2 years ago
I don't think she knew what type of python it was!
KWCline91 2 years ago
If that was me, the first thing i would do is goto the kitchen and get a sharp knife or hold the snake above the flames of the hob until it let go.
danagol1985 2 years ago
You are not suppose to feed a snake in its cage because every time you open the cage they think you are going to feed them that is why it attacked her.
asht1888 2 years ago 3
like when parents have huge pythons with their infants and kill the snake when their baby gets attacked , uhmm if you have an infant dont have a snake?! and shes crying bc a ball python wont get off her hand?! pllzzzz the fire dept. have way more important things to do
JessaXzomg216 2 years ago
omg.... ok Im ready for hatemail. snakes arent as bad as they seem. If you take care of it,and tame it? it wont strike. none of my snakes have ever bit me . or anyone at that matter. but as soon as someone gets attacked all hell breaks loose.
JessaXzomg216 2 years ago
snakes cant eat people. Keep it well fed and the aggression drops and incidents like this are rare.
tempo1889 2 years ago
some snakes move very fast like the black mamba which can move up to 15 miles an hour I believe

has anyone else noticed that that house has been used in loads of other rescue 911 videos? it was used in the firecracker one as well..!
pinkislush99 2 years ago 4
This is a different house than the one that was used in "911 Firecracker Explosion". They do use the same house in "Teen Car Crash", "Remarriage Rescue", "New Daddy Crash", and "Hostage Hot Pursuit", though.

My first reaction, besides saying "OH SHIT" would be to grab a knife and stab that snake...most likely I would end up slicking my arm in the process, then call 911.

why do they send fire trucks to medical situations like this which doesnt really need a fire truck, what if somebodys house catches fire, that fire truck could be used to save somebody in a fire, after all thats what a fire truck is for its not an ambulance.
richyloike 2 years ago 5
Firemen are also EMT's, and they have all the tools for breaking into houses and cutting people out of cars and stuff
Behemoth12391 2 years ago
because its the law when someone calls 911 everybody has to come police fire and paramedics.
mastertabla 2 years ago
im guessing because they have equipment for a variety of situations and the police don't. although I believe that if a fire truck is called out the police usually follow if they are free.
TeamStephenson 2 years ago
several reasons. What if the person is too injured to open a locked door and you need to break the lock? What if the person is heavier than normal and you need more lifting power to move the person to the ambulance?

My friend's husband has pythons in their basement. He has to keep them there b/c she has cats upstairs.
IDK about anyone else, but my idea of a pet is not something that can also eat you.
Snakes and big cats-not pets.
Small cats and rabbits-pets.
Why would anyone wanna keep a pet that can also eat them if it decides to?
