The house was gutted by fire on Thanksgiving Day 2010. It has been a regular topic of discussion among Council members. In October 2011, Williams was given 60 days by the Historic Preservation Commission to start repairs on the house. That deadline came after he was given 30 days in August 2011 to submit a certificate of appropriateness. The following month, in September, he presented insufficient information and was given until October 2011. No work has been done on the house.
Old Yellow Pine houses go up fast almost like a old single wide trailer or mail box as I call them. I feel for the folks who live there its not something you need on thanksgiving.
im glad i have 2 fire depts within a couple blocks from me, not that it would do anygood since my house is OLD. all the wood structure is just kindling. well we had 2 fires across the street from my house and both times the fire dept knocked it out in under 10 minutes, but still, ive seen a couple houses right around the corner from one of the fire stations that couldnt be saved and got bulldozed. I guess its all in how quick you discover the fire and react to it.
I live in Nashville TN. My friend is a fire fighter. Yeah we will get big fires from tome to time. The nashville fire fighters get there in 30 secs. no joke ppl. cleveland tn fire fighters take there time while nashvilles are there.

That was a beautiful house in great area owned by a landlord who refuses to maintain properties. He owns many properties in Cleveland, including the house behind the burning one. Avoid Louisville Land Company and anything owned by Joe V. Williams, III.
For over 70 years the portion of Fort Hill Cemetery owned and operated by Joe V. Williams and Louisville Land Company has been in the news for the conditions of the grounds, roadways and burial records.
The judge said the defendant "failed to live up to his statutory obligations and neglected the cemetery and failed to spend the funds necessary to properly maintain the cemetery. He was aware of the lack of records for where bodies were located.
@jrrymia yep lol thats him..my mom worked for him for 2 years any took him to court because he owed her a year and a half of back pay..we need to run that dude outta town lol
Love to see the first engine in hitting the hydrant. WTF was the engine operator doing? Did he get out and tie his shoes? Good job getting the pre-connects off. Then had to wait for engine operator to charge the lines. Pull the pre-connects, charge the lines, then hook up from the hydrant. Anoter example of light weight construction burning fast. Hard to get ahead of this one. Stay Safe.
@tennis1984 That wasn't lightweight construction. That house was nearly a hundred years old. It was solid but poorly maintained. There were two smoke detectors for six rooms. The gas bill for one month was six hundred dollars. The owner was was in trouble with the IRS in 2009, and it is not his first house that caught fire.

anybody know what started this fire..I know its a rental house and the ppl who own it dont keep it up very well. ive seen the women who lives there and feel bad for her..
@amys3kiddies That looks like a Joe V. Williams, III house aka Louisville land. If it was arson it wasn't for the money. He owns most of the slum houses in town, including the one right next to it, and properties in Chattanooga as well-plus Fort Hill Cemetery (the slummy part.). He was probably destroying evidence, or it legitimately went up due to awful wiring. If anyone was hurt the town should be sued as Cleveland is well aware of Joe, his slum houses, and the rest of his shenanigans.
@amys3kiddies Thank your dad for me for what he does. I've got respect for people who put their lives on the line to protect others and they don't get credited nearly enough for that. :)
Nice job...I read the 2009 annual report. Station 5 is the slowest, its a perfect spot for the Firefighter who is near retirement...like me...lol...

Joe probably just put the "For rent" sign right back up in front of the smoldering foundation. "Lots of light!" "Fixxer upper" "Open floor plan."
