  • I love it even more now. XD

  • CARA MIA!

  • Remember disregard everything it says

  • its the opera

  • I knew about the cara Mia addio song but I didn't know the turret sounds came from the cube. Thanks for the info! Olololol

  • Why does compain cube have heart on it ¿????????¿

  • @GiganFTW ._.

  • If the companion cube speaks, please disregard its advice. . . . . . .

Don't listen to it, It will kill you!!!

  • the companion cube is STILL ALIVE!

  • the comepanion cube speaks to the rat man....

  • Its alive, its ALIVE! MUUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA*cough*

  • Its advise advertises love...

  • plz disregard it's advice

  • THE COMPANION CUBE CAN ONLY LOVE SO IT SING FOR YOU.

  • weird whenever i did that test chamber i thought i was hearing things...

  • I found this a couple of days ago but I can't take a video of it... Looks like I am not crazy I thought the cube was singing cara mia on tune with the level music...

  • Y U GO IN CUBE!?

  • its the same song that is played when u beat the game.

  • ;-; i LUV that song...

  • its the turret opera but companion cube version

  • it siings! it realy IS sentient!

  • it sound like companion cube is saying:Meoooow,Meoooow,Meoooow

  • @AydenMize cat cube!!

  • omg ratmans not crazy the cake really isnt a lie.

  • did you noticed that the background music, not the cube's music, match with the cube's sound?

  • That's part of the soundtrack. It's just designed to play that song, which is really sweet, when you're closer to it so as to give a more warm and nostalgic effect.

  • WHAT!?!?!? No top comment!?!?! Say something, quick! THE CUBE IS ALIVE!!!!!!!

  • they say disreguard it' advicebecause it told ratman what to do and he perty much is the whole reason portal's events even happened.. so yeah...

  • ಠ▃ಠ I'm marrying it.

  • Its cara mia.

  • @TheConservativesrock, Its actually a song called 'Love as a construct' and is in the official soundtrack... but yeah, its a varation of Cara Mia.

  • @TheConservativesrock HOLY CRAP IT IS CARA MIA!!!!!

  • Not an easter egg, but it's still very cool what they did. Valve got clever with their music team and had objects important to the progress of the level play more parts of the score, until once you solved the level the entire song had played, more or less.

It's most apparent on that Faith plate level, where you need to unlock 3 faith plates to get to the end, and it plays a different synth as you bounce off each plate.

  • no this sound more like cara mia in some parts

  • Hey, isn't that the song that the hidden turrets play inside one of the Ratman dens?

  • it..can speak!? YES!!!

  • Dude...And your ASHPD???

  • Cara Mim: CC Remix

  • It's the turret opera. THE CUBE IS A SPY! DON'T TRUST IT

  • Companion Cube:Meooooww.... Meoowwww... Meow Meow Meooooow... Meooooooow... Meow Meow Meow...

  • This would awesome slow dance music.I see why they call it "The Companion Cube" now... :3

  • The companion cube is A TURRET?!?!?!?!

No Really, Its Playing Turret opera.

  • so that's where the music came from

  • wow... u didn't know that it plays music?

    ...sad...

  • The name Of this music is "Cara Mia", witch mean "My dear". Make the relation with Ratman, the hidden Chell experience at the parent/children day (where there are the potatoes battery) and GLaDOS and you have a BIG mystery about Cell who can be the daughter of Caroline and Ratman ... maybe just my imagination ...

  • This explains why Ratman thought the cube spoke to him!

  • I just love how they have it match up with the main background music. I think they do this by playing multiple variations (or "moods" as I like to call it) of the same song playing at the same time, fading the volume on one version and raising the volume for another as needed (I think Need for Speed: Most Wanted did roughly the same thing, but Portal 2 seems to be smoother with it's transitions between versions).

  • hooray no dislikes

  • @Hazzonic You jinxed it.

  • @ReachIsBeast dammit, i thought that might happen... oh well, worth it

  • Cara Mia!

  • i found out that before this video was posted i just didnt have a camera or a youtube account

  • If you listen to the BG, it slightly resembles "turret opera" in all that mixed noise, and being near the cube amplifies that feel by entering it's own matched tune. close your eyes and listen to the cube and the BG at the same time. You'll hear what I mean.

  • Its not an easter egg. It plays on every cube -.- Figured it out the first time I saw one.

  • translation: DONT COMPLET THE TEST YOUR GUNU DIE!!!! PLEASE DONT!! (five minuts later) fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu..(flams burn cube)

  • IT PLAYS CARA MIA!

  • lol, i heard this music before but i thought it was just the test chamber music.

  • Nah. It's not really an easter egg.

Each individual 'artifact' has its own theme.

The companion cube theme just happens to be that song.

  • I'll never get over putting it in the incinerator. I'M SORRY COMPANION CUBE!

  • I think it's trying to talk to you not play music but you don't have the pills to here it's voice

  • cara mia, the end song in portal 2, turrent opera, call it anything you want

  • Physics is fun.

  • I didn't know it played music? Oh my God it's even more cute now <33

  • Almost everything in this game has its own musical cue or signature, which is what I love about its expertly composed soundtrack. GLaDOS has that BOOOOP BEEEEEP BOOOOP cue, Wheatley's is DUUUN NAH NAH NUUUUH, and even the Companion cube with its little song Love as a Construct. I noticed this same little song briefly in the beginning of Caroline Deleted, it plays since the companion cube makes a brief appearence...

    DAT DETAIL

  • 0:25 I love how you just started rocking out there X3

  • That song is the Italian song that the Turret Orchestra sings! This links up with Rattman bringing it there in the first palce and (probalbly) throwing it at you when you finish the game and get set free! Just a theory but worth thinking of...

  • When I Read The Title I Immediately Thought Doctor Who.

  • I've heard that before

  • Wait nvm

  • Anyone notice its the ending song?

  • 1:25 Yay! 4 cube :D

  • is it the portal2 turret finishingh song...?

  • Its saying I love you

  • @ajperry1995 Oh, also. It's Cara Mia moron. They don't say 'I Love You'. And if you cried when you abandoned it, well, that's just pathetic.

  • @ajperry1995 *GLaDOS

  • @stormtrooper513 *turrets

  • "Like"..."Dislike"...where is the love button?!

  • thats the ending sogn!!!!!!!!!!the one with the turrents!

  • Creepy as fuck.

  • @ajperry1995 You don't have to leave it, there's no emancipation grill.

  • Its just the turret opera

  • companion cube opera

  • @ajperry1995 lol ill think youll find it is

    albeit alot slower

  • FFFF I knew it played music, but this confirms it plays the turret opera.

  • Thumbs down if you hate the Companion Cube! ;)

  • OH THAT WAS THE CUBE. I thought it was the lasers making the music. /fail

    But that's kinda creepy... xD

  • When GLaDOS closes the portal on the moon, and you faint, you can hear this faintly in the background.

  • They ARE sentient of course. We just have a lot of them.

  • the song its playing is called love as a construct, it isnt the turret opera...

  • @soopercool3 Love as a Construct = Turret Opera song name..

  • @soopercool3 the first part is the turret opera. Right before all the turrets start singing and the lyrics start.

  • FUCK I thought I was the first to notice this.

  • Am I the only one where in the first game, GLaDOS was like "the enrichment center would like to remind you that the weighted cannot speak, therefore it can't threaten or try to harm you" an while she's still saying that, another memo pops up "the enrichment center would like to remind you that the weighted companion cube can speak. Please disregard anything it has to say" and so I had to completely different messages going at the same time? @.@

  • @Insomniacwithnolife There should be two different messages one after another, the first is "The enrichment center would like to remind you that the weighted companion cube cannot speak and will never threaten to stab you". The second is normally played straight after as "In the event the weighted companion cube does speak, we advise to disregard it's advice."

  • @compact105 I think she was talking to Doug sometimes. Like when she says "In the event that the cube does speak please disregard it's advice"

  • Lol turret opera

  • i got the music on my ps3 :D

  • GLaDOS' : "Please disreguard music from the Companion Cube...It has nothing to do with the suprise I have planned for you---I mean LOOK OUT! Compainion Cube tried to stab you! I can't believe he tried to do that...!"

  • The enrichment center wants to remind you that the waited companion cube can not speak, but can hum.

  • i knew it i was playing the level and kept hearing that music

  • I thought this was the Chamber's Music

  • ive just realised its playing the turret opera

  • @kryolite the turrets are singing an opera version of the companion cube song, man...

  • @kryolite just what i thinking to comment

  • @kryolite Yeah, this version is called Love as a Construct, and the only reason I know that is because I listen to it a lot

  • @kryolite your right!

  • The meter's a bit messed up, but if you listen carefully you can hear that it's the

*SPOILER, DO NOT READ FURTHER UNLESS YOU'VE BEATEN PORTAL 2* turret chorus song at the end of the game.

    *END OF SPOILER*

  • this game has dynamic music, it changes depending on what happens

  • A lot of stuff in the game play tunes. The laser sockets, lightbridges, the blue/orange tubes, aerial faith plates (when you are in the apex of the flight path) are just an examples.

  • @Meehuuu Ah yes, I noticed the aerial faith plate tunes too. It's quite a nice touch but I never noticed the cube at first.

  • @Meehuuu Aerial faith plate music is the best (jams to Friendly Faith Plate)

  • @Meehuuu the cube is completely different. Its not supposed to play tunes, this particular cube happens to. Because valve said "why the fuck not?". I love you valve.
