He didnt dodge because at that moment he realized that ichigo was stronger then he thought, seeing how he ripped through his strongest attack. Thats usually how it works in these anime, if you use your strongest attack and the opponent can either counter, evade or block it, they usually come to a realization that continuing to fight is pointless.

Well, I agree that it was more interesting when they went to SS to rescue Rukia, but on that same token, the who hollowfication idea wasn't bad at all. But, all in all, I agree with Strifer when he said that this is not as good as it was early on.

It's simply missing some elements that the early episodes had.
