@FuriousPixel Yea, my first attempt lead to a jam. Had to stop recording, took out the ear plugs..etc.. Went to go for take two, forgot about the ear plugs until the first shot. You can notice the slight delay after that shot. lol But I was tired, was on my last few rounds of ammo so I went with it anyway

@MrHalo3elite Well it depends on your prior experience. If you have shot a hunting rifle in .30-06 then the Garand will have much less felt recoil. Just to give you an example, I shot 80 rounds in one range trip with my Garand. But 15 rounds out of my Mosin had my shoulder sore with red marks. lol Just remember that the weight and the gas system of the Garand helps reduce the recoil that you feel, where as on a light bolt action rifle...you get the full force

Yea, the first time I went to record the video the carbine jammed. I had forgot to put the ear plugs back in after shooting the first round, but since all the ammo i had brought was in that magazine, I just kept shooting. Thats why I paused after the first shot, it surprised me. lol

Not the smartest thing to do, but it's not like i make the habit of doing that

Response to deathship700: CMP refers to where he purchased the rifle. The "Civilian Marksmanship Program" is a program whereby civilians may purchase select fire arms and accessories at a discounted rate. Prices range from about $495 to $1300 or so depending on the quality of rifle you purchase. Google search "Civilian Marksmanship Program" and click on the "Sales" link.

The reason your camera didnt record the sound is because ypou zoomed in, and most camera's do that.

No, the camera doesn't have trouble with recording anything else when zoomed in. All it was is that the camera's mic has trouble with really loud sounds. This is a digital camera after all....and not a video camera

You must be a fellow Californian with that 10 round mag. On the Garand pull the slide back and on the barrel under the slide should be a date. It should be stamped there. This does not mean it's the rifles mfg date as it could be a replaced barrel. That Greek ammo is good stuff by the way.

Most of the time, no, you're probably not going to get hit by hit. Most of the time it will come back down on the top of the rifle or just off to the side. If the spring is new and strong it could eject the clip high enough and it could land on your head.

But if you wear safety glasses, like is recommended during shooting, then you should be safe..even if the clip was to come back at your face.

Well the recoil from the Garand is much less than that of a bolt action of the same caliber. Due to the weight and the semi-auto action of the Garand, the felt recoil is reduced.

I mean, think about it. A light 5-6lb bolt action hunting rifle is going to move a lot quicker during recoil than a 9.5lb Garand. Also, the force from the shot is being sent straight to the recoil, instead of some of it being used to push the bolt back and chamber another round like on the Garand.

the garand was way better than the carbine. it fired a heavier round faster and could hit targets well beyond 1000 yards. the bullet from the carbine wouldnt kill someone in heavy clothes at 300 yards. just because you pwn with it in cod5 doesnt make it the best.

You have a second production carbine, very late WWII...or made by universal...it has a bayonett lug so id say this was assembled after the war for korea...just saying haha, not accurate for June 6th

I got it from the CMP. Made by Inland. I had a CMP forum member to check the receiver date. The Carbines were sent to Italy after WWII. The probably saw a gunsmith after the war or when they were sent off. The parts were mixed, so a late barrel band w/ bayonet lug is not so hard to imagine it having. Either way the Carbine was a weapon used in WWII and during D-Day so that's all that matters.
